  1. he's done jack s%*#. just like getz has done jack s%*# for our overall draft and development efforts. all these guys are just cashing checks.
  2. I would broom pretty much the entire FO and coaching staff. Start over from scratch. Pay Dombo or Theo whatever they ask and let them go ham.
  3. I honestly think they thought it would turn the season around.
  4. Because it's the Sox I expect him to basically turn into JD Martinez over the 2nd half of his career. His statcast data is pretty incredible. If he ever does figure out some plate discipline he could be what Eloy was supposed to be.
  5. They did a great job rushing him back. JFC.
  6. Moncada is the third rail type for certain fans. Got a contract he probably doesn't deserve, likes to party and isn't shy about it, is frequently hurt and so on. I don't really get angry at individual players any more I'm too old for that, blame the dude that signed him to that deal and traded for him.
  7. He's white, chubby, and battled back from adversity. Pretty much the perfect candidate to be emotionally more important to the fan base than on field play would warrant.
  8. Basically a full WAR. I'm not going to sit here and argue for Moncada either as lord knows he's frustrating but you can't hand waive away defense.
  9. It's a silly argument but hey, it takes all types of fans. Not really a hill I'm going to die on. That said, I can't imagine too many fans, casual or hardcore, coming out to a .400 club to see Jake Burger.
  10. Fairly small sample but FG has Jake at -4.3 runs in the field, even with the 3B adjustment he gets. He's just the latest in an endless run of DH/1B types that Chicago has tried to move the wrong way on the defensive spectrum.
  11. Kopech had major red flags attitude wise right off the bat, then suffered TJS. You need to stockpile pitching prospects, because the vast majority flame out or turn into relievers. Other than perhaps in the late 90s the Sox have done a poor job stockpiling enough arms to where you have depth when the inevitable flameouts happen.
  12. This is what I'm complaining about. Burger is like JAG. We are just so starved for any success we have some mixed feelings about losing a DH? I understand liking his story but we root for the laundry no? The Sox are going nowhere fast, with or without Jake. Getting a good SP prospect makes the next relevant Sox team a little closer.
  13. Says something about something that many Sox fans either don't like the trade or would just prefer to have not made it. This is a franchise that has starved the fans, in some cases into clouded thinking.
  14. As much as I like all these moves the much bolder move would of course to have made them last year. But better late than never. I was clearly wrong about the value overall of rentals and otherwise mediocre players. The playoff rules have changed what "going for it" means and seems most years it's going to be a seller's market.
  15. A. But an A on the midterm is meaningless when you flunk the final. Doesn’t change his overall performance one bit.
  16. Wow we sold high for once! On a DH! Wow!
  17. Cool narrative, but horseshit players and teams fail between the lines first.
  18. Yea I guess so. I think the scouting turned out fairly accurate on him. Maybe he can have a couple nice years as a setup guy. We jerked him around so much it's hard imo for relievers to thrive like that.
  19. I hope he thrives. always liked him he kept his mouth shut and as the third piece of the Eaton trade was a fine piece.
  20. We have one position player that is on pace for more than 2 WAR and that is Robert, who will probably finish around top 5 in the AL at 5.5-6.5. Jake might be able to squeek over 2 if he can stay healthy and keep his wRC+ around 120. Our biggest signing ever, Benitendi, is on pace for 1.3 fWAR. The rest of our "core" like TA, Moncada and Eloy aren't even worth mentioning really. They all, for various reasons, are barely even 1 WAR players anymore. Just a really shocking turn of events for guys that looked like "can't miss" players just a few years ago.
  21. We really ran into a lot of bad luck with all the tommy johns. Tommy john isn't a miracle cure and at least 1/6 or so guys never really makes it back fully. With his other lower body injuries on top of his arm issues Kopech as you said, this is not the same guy.
  22. I missed the game. Looks good in the box score. Raise that trade value boys.
  23. That doesn't seem very white sox.
