LOL Eaton just took it!

LOL was that a fan falling out of the seats after that ball? Edit: even better, dancing security.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 07:03 PM) How bad are the boobirds about right now? Samardzija and Sale need to stop the bleeding or there will really be blood in the water. Hard to imagine a more horrific start. Honestly I haven't heard any, but I also have barely heard the crowd at all since the game started.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 06:51 PM) We have 0 quality starts and 4 guys we're counting on for offense (Eaton, Melky, LaRoche, Alexei) with what, 4 hits combined? I'm finding it very difficult to blame Robin for this. So be honest...you feel this team was adequately prepared for the season coming out of spring training? They were ready to go on day 1?
-
QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 06:46 PM) Umm...Robin? Yeah I gots no clue either.

QUOTE (Vance Law @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 06:43 PM) You've got to like Ventura calling for the double right there Clearly you agree that his failure to do so throughout the rest of the game is a fireable offense right? Either that or you're going to stop this?

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 06:09 PM) At some point we need to change the way we run spring trainings. Either relegate more of the minor leaguers to minor league games and get more time for the vets. The team does not look ready. Its almost like this is still spring training and we are waiting for guys with numbers that start in the 80s to roll out of the dugout for their work. And it's been like this 3 of the 4 years of this manager. The only time it wasn't was in his first year - they came out ready to play from day 1. The next 3 years they seemingly overslept after ST.

2 key wild pitches, yeesh.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 05:32 PM) I really love my MLB.TV "Park" audio option.... Where is that? Is it on the computer version?
-
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 05:28 PM) LaRoche better get his s*** together or he's gonna get absolutley buried in Sox fan-Adam Dunn vitriol territory and that's a place you never climb out of. LaRoche shouldn't be playing against lefties. I can't blame a guy for doing something he's not physically able to do. If we put LaRoche on the mound and he gave up runs I wouldn't be mad at him for doing so, I'd be annoyed at the guy who decided he was that day's starting pitcher.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 05:15 PM) It really shouldn't be that surprising, he was horrible on the bases last year though. Rookies, especially rookies who you can convincingly say could have started the year at AAA and spent most of the year there, are going to be rough on the basepaths and make mistakes. I'm expecting that. Monday's putout at first, completely what I expect. Getting picked off stealing 3rd...he should only IMO be going when there's a "Go" sign from the dugout.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 05:14 PM) There's a place for agression on the base paths and then there's stupidity. Micah's been f***ing stupid every time he's gotten on. I'll give him a bit of a break since he's a rookie, he shouldn't get to decide on the green light on his own.
-
And there that goes.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 05:09 PM) Gotta wonder what the hell we were doing in Spring to start out this anemic. I've been trying to figure that out since 2013.
-
Nice work Micah
-
Well there's a quick 123 inning and 5 strikeouts through 3 isn't bad.
-
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 04:57 PM) Was LaRoche every platooned in his life? Doubtful, but he's also not the same hitter he was his whole life. In his career against lefties he's put up a .719 OPS, but the last 2 years that has dropped to .566 and .620. He didn't need to be platooned against lefties until he got to his 33-34 year old seasons. It happens. That should have been plan A when he was signed - treat him as a platoon player and fill in the bench with a few versatile righties so that we can do so. Hell, our GM even did his job in that regard.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 04:55 PM) I agree with you but I know there would be guys on here complaining about the lack of power in the line up lol LaRoche playing against a lefty IS a lack of power in the lineup. And a lack of OBP, and everything else.
-
QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 04:51 PM) [nothing too good to Mauer here Do you really, honestly think that Mauer will not knock in this run? I'd like to be proven wrong but we've watched Mauer drive in this run for like 10 years.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 04:50 PM) So against LHP we want: C-Flowers 1B- Abreu 2B- Johnson 3B- Beckham SS- Ramirez LF- Melky CF- Eaton RF- Emilio DH- Avi You can fiddle around with it, put someone else at DH for a day off or whatever, but yeah, that's basically who I'd have out there as the lineup against lefties. It takes out your 2 terrible platoon split guys.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 04:45 PM) I agree but how many people are going to be pissed if you see Beckham or Sanchez playing DH? You don't want Emilio in the DH role because he has versatility. You don't want Soto DHing because of the lack of bench catcher. So you have Beckham or Sanchez and I expect Sanchez to be gone here soon Edit: I guess you can have AVI DH and Emilio play RF I will not be pissed if Beckham or Bonifacio are DHing on days where there is a lefty starter. We have multiple ways that we could still make the lineup work even if Sanchez is sent down soon and even if someone gets hurt. But yeah, Avi DHing works just fine those days too.
-
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 04:41 PM) Especially if Robin is just going to play Beckham against lefties. We have 3 righties on the bench, they all should be used on days when there's a lefty on the mound. Gillaspie and LaRoche should flat out not be playing when there's a lefty on the mound. We even have a roster built to do this, yet the fact that it's not happening with LaRoche was completely predictable in early December.

QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) Rodon needs to keep his bags packed Because he can play 8 positions?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 04:17 PM) Well, the Captain of Attitude approach is giving up runs like crazy. I have no idea what that means?

Cool, Hector wearing a kevlar-lined hat today.
