QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 06:10 PM) 21 consecutive retired by Danks. Danks: 8 IP, 3H, 1BB, 6Ks. 96 pitches, 60 strikes. Can we please score in the 8th and win like a normal team can. This game has extras written all over it.
-
Not quite the best, but that was one of the 10 or so best games I've ever seen Danks pitch.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 06:02 PM) He was just saying Neshak is a RH Wunsch Ah, thank you.

COME ON FLOWERS, MAKE YESTERDAY BE THE START OF SOMETHING BIG.

Man, aced Gordon there. Wasn't a bad at bat, but that was a solid change to finish it.
-
Wunsch is still in the big leagues? Whoa.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 05:54 PM) Octavio Rodriguez, LHP, Franklin HS, HS, 6'04" 185lbs DOB: 04/04/95 @tavs27 "As a 6-foot-4, 205-pound lefty, Rodriguez has the prototypical pitcher's build. He can already hit 93 mph with his fastball and should see an increase in velocity once he fills out. His changeup and curve could also be above-average in the future. He is still somewhat raw, however, and needs to show better command of each of his pitches. Rodriguez is committed to Oklahoma and is considered a very tough sign. If he goes on to college, he has the potential to be a first-round pick in three years." Scouting video - http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?topic_id=4039549...ent_id=27714739 This appears to be where we will put a lot of our money saved from the last 15-20 straight college players we have drafted. We won't sign him unless someone in the top 10 surprises and won't sign, but at this point, you keep him away from other teams and start getting to know his family and such if you want to draft him in a couple years.

BEAUTIFUL CURVE TO CESPEDES. I vaguely remember this guy.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 05:30 PM) The Sox pitching staff can keep up with just about any in the AL And that's with 2 starters on the DL.

You're Hahn, who are you looking to trade first?

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 05:11 PM) Agreed. That and Danks hasn't fully recovered yet. You have to be patient with should surgery guys as it takes 12-18 months to fully recover. I think we can start judging Danks about this time next year. I wouldn't be a shocked if he had a season similar to '09 next year. Danks has looked pretty f***ing good today. -
Danks found his control after the first and just looks filthy right now.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 05:18 PM) Was there ever a warning about Hudson's delivery/mechanics? Coop never liked it.

Danks suddenly has a groove.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 04:48 PM) My goodness, that's a lot of $$....I was thinking we'd need to trade off both Rios and Peavy to make signing Granderson and Morales possible. Looks like they can make that happen regardless.... The one problem this offseason will be that the Yankees will have like $80 million to spend. -

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 04:41 PM) Trusting you on that number but add 25 million to the current payroll and we're 144 million. Hypothetically speaking, say we keep Rios and Peavy and let all the FAs walk. Payroll 119 million - 36 million in expiring contracts (PK, Floyd, Thornton, Crain, Lindstrom and Wise) = 83 million in guarenteed contracts. Factor in +10 million in increases and arbitration and we are at 93 million. Sounds insane but that could leave 50 million dollars to spend. Hahn was always noted as a money guy too. There will probably be some additional erosion of season tickets following this flop of a season, and that $25 million is going to every team in the league, but yea, there is already a lot of money to spend just by deals ending, and if Peavy is moved (and since we have 6 starters with EJ on the way...someone's got to move), there is a ton of money available. -
DUNN DID SOMETHING RIGHT!

QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 04:32 PM) Something we have to keep in mind: Contracts coming off the books: Konerko -13.5 million Floyd - 9.5 million Crain - 4.5 million Thornton - 5.5 million (1 mil buyout) Wise - 700k Lindstrom - 2.3 million (500k buyout) That's 36 million off million off the books. We could also possibly trade Rios (13 million) and Peavy (14.5). If we trade BOTH Peavy and Rios that's 63.5 million off the books. If we trade just Peavy that's 50.5 million off the books. If we trade just Rios that's 52 million off the books. There is money to be spent. And just so it's said again, throw in the $25 million additional from the new national TV deal. -
QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 04:30 PM) This lefty reminds me of a lefty the royals had a few years back that sucked but looked like cy young against the sox. Anybody remember his name ?
-
QUOTE (JoshPR @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 04:28 PM) WTF was Rios waiting for? He wasn't going to be beaten on the changeup. He wasn't.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 04:19 PM) I just don't see him lasting the season with the Sox. Wouldn't shock me if he gets dealt. What hte Hell happened to him out there?
-
Took less than 0 outs to have 1 error.

Just so someone says this...slight topic change.... It would be criminally stupid to make a major deal until someone is certain what is going to happen with the Miami Steroid Suspensions. That could/would blow the market up for players. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) Would you trade Adam Dunn for Andre Ethier? Straight up? Not a chance. If they add in $40 million? ok. -
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 12:43 PM) Conor Gillaspie is not the first person to hit a ball to the fence and have it caught. Nor is he the first person to have a poster decide to jump to conclusions based on a very small data set.
