QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 09:29 PM) lol what? So youre saying that they are offering him 0 incentive to plea? Why does the US govt even want to put him on trial? Its only a chance for him to be on stage and become a martyr. The government would do that to get the death penalty. This guy blew up an 8 year old kid.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 09:16 PM) He is gonna plea guilty to avoid the death penalty. I feel bad for the federal public defender who represents him. The Feds may not want to take the deal unless he has a good story to tell and cooperates.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 09:06 PM) Awesome news. Congrats to everyone in law enforcement there. Now it is up to the judicial system to put this guy away forever. Somehow I don't think this will be the most difficult conviction.

QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 08:50 PM) Is it confirmed these guys are Al Queda? Geraldo saying they are No, but the dead one has posted some variety of pro al Qaeda links on a social media page at some point.

Loud applause on the scene, ambulance that had been sitting there started rolling.

If I flip to CNN are they denying he's in custody?

Someone is using the phrase "a successful recovery" on NBC

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 08:27 PM) I hope these people get a new boat out of this. They'll probably be able to sell this to a museum eventually.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 08:25 PM) Msnbc reporting the kid had previously tweeted "lol those people are cooked" in reference to the marathon. I think that was about a previous years marathon right? If its the right account he did a "stay safe" kinda post on Monday.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 08:24 PM) Some guy on the police scanner, yelling to make sure they don't divulge anything important over the air, because of everyone listening. He's yelled WATCH YOUR MIC at least 20-30 times, adding YOU'VE GOT AN OPEN MIC! a few times. I have to imagine there will be a movement to make it harder to listen in on police chatter after this.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 08:23 PM) watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic watch your mic ????

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 08:21 PM) WATCH YOUR MIC! ?

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 08:11 PM) It's the helicopter's big light I would imagine. NBC again reported that they lit up the boat and could see him covered in blood.
-
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 08:16 PM) Did I hear that correct on Fox a little while ago, in that this area was outside the area they searched earlier? Or did they mean he was outside the area and may have come back in? The inner perimeter line was 1.5 blocks from here per NBC a moment ago. He's jut outside the hard perimeter line.
-
QUOTE (Knuckles @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 08:06 PM) It's been reported that he's been injured since the firefight last night. The latest statement was that the woman who called in the boat saw a blood trail.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) I have friends who go to Harvard and MIT. They seem to be fine, just very bored and watching the news for like 20 hours straight. No one I know has used the word "bored"

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 07:43 PM) That press conference was sure something. Told people to be vigilant. Minutes later they find him. NBC said something about possibly a rapid tip from a local woman. Maybe she went outside right after that press conference when she was told it was ok and ten saw somethig at that point.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 06:44 PM) they were describing them as grenades, so not similar in scale to monday Ok, well another statement described finding up to 7 explosives similar to the ones used Monday.
-
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) That's a good point, I just don't think they actually have a good idea. Otherwise they wouldn't have had so many resources going in Watertown and have nothing turn up. The one thing I can't imagine them doing is lifting the "Stay indoors" warning if they thought he was still in the area, and they've lifted that.
-
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 06:30 PM) That's how it went down? That seems easy to get around. "I'm going to hold your 4 year old here in the basement while I watch the news. If you tell the police you want a search of the house, I kill her, so tell them everything's OK." Clearly, the people who refused the search wouldn't just have the police say thank you, have a nice day.
-
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 06:23 PM) This has to be it, he either drove out of town or ditched that car somewhere and got away on foot. Hell he could have had someone pick him up. The gunfight involved several hundred rounds being fired and explosives similar in scale to the ones used on Monday being lobbed at the police according to this briefing. Given that the chase seems to have covered a good fraction of the metro area, it's plausible he got out during the confusion. I'm wondering if he found a way to grab a different car. That'd be the best way out he could get.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 19, 2013 -> 06:22 PM) That would be my guess. Are the police physically searching every house? They stated that they went door to door across this community.
