  1. We need to stop walking Hicks. But otherwise, great first 3 innings for Floyd
  2. So far Gavin is throwing great today, he just needs to lay off the cutter
  3. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Apr 21, 2013 -> 12:47 PM) The real question is....Will Floyd retire Mauer at least 1 time today? Mauer absolutely OWNS him. .486 with 3 homers. Got him once!
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 08:18 PM) Awesome start to the NBA playoffs. The Warriors/Nuggets game was a lot of fun. Torn hip flexor for David Lee, out for the duration of the playoffs.
  5. QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 21, 2013 -> 01:55 PM) I don't recall seeing him far from the plate. If it's true that he's standing pretty far from the plate, could it be that he has already started trying to make the adjustment I described, or has he always stood off the plate? I'll pay close attention to that today. Thanks He's always stood far from the plate. Here's him with the Reds, his foot is close to the back of the box. I think he might well stand fartehr from the plate today. Adam Dunn is a HR hitting lefty with an uppercut swing. He doesn't go the other way, that's not where his power is. When he tries to go the other way, it saps his power because he will lose the uppercut.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 21, 2013 -> 12:46 PM) 67 pages and still not bustered, Well done, Soxtalk. Well done I strongly disagree with the number of posts you view per page.
  7. QUOTE (IowanSoxFan @ Apr 21, 2013 -> 01:32 PM) The White Sox should draft the best player. It's usually quite rare that there's an obviously best player available when you draft at any spot other than the top couple choices. More common is you get to choose from a handful of roughly equal value picks. The last time I can remember the Sox having a clear best player available to choose from, it was this guy name Chris Sale.
  8. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 21, 2013 -> 04:39 AM) Boom. Who gives a s*** about 3 decent starts, one guy is CLEARLY better than the other, so let's go with what history tells us, not what last week tells us. I'd start Porcello next week over Axe, and Porcello gave up 9 ER today in 2/3 of an inning. That's an ERA of 121? Yeah, I'll still take that guy. What about Porcello tells you that he's clearly better than Axelrod? Porcello has a higher career ERA than Gavin Floyd does. Throw in the ballpark effect, Porcello's career 4.67 ERA probably is around 5 if he's pitching in a normal ballpark and higher still at the Cell.
  9. QUOTE (Lillian @ Apr 21, 2013 -> 01:04 PM) It doesn't matter what he's thinking. The point is whatever he's thinking, and whatever he's doing, isn't working. My question is; Would it be advantageous for him to back away from the plate, in order to both neutralize the inside pitch, and increase the potential for hitting strikes to the left side? I'm still waiting for someone with a high baseball acumen to comment. Have you actually seen how far away he stands from the plate? He's so far back it looks like he's outside the batters box.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 07:54 PM) Any news on how this jag is doing in the hospital? Serious condition, was shot at least twice, once in the leg and once in the neck, may currently be unable to speak.
  11. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 06:28 PM) No one ever talks about Ryan Kussmaul at B'ham. He gets people out but soesn't seem to pitch more than once a week or so. Of course, I have never seen him pitch, and no other team drafted him last off-season when they could have.... ERA still at zero. Righty with a funky motion/sidearm, topped out around 90 mph.
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 06:31 PM) runner scores from 2nd He was already at 3rd, went to 3rd on contact safely.
  13. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 06:28 PM) Someone fill me in on what happened, I'm FOX'd out of viewing Alexei throw in the dirt, Keppinger bobbles/misses/whatever, goes after the runner at first, meanwhile runner scores from 3rd.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 06:27 PM) Incredibly awful start to this season. At least with Viciedo and Beckham, you had some hope they could show development. This team is the worst coached team I've seen since the Bevington era. THis has the 2011 season written all over it so far.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 06:25 PM) Yep, good thing we have Keppinger over at first base now. Ventura is just killing us. konerko picks that.
  16. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 05:59 PM) Addison Reed and Santiago are the only ones left in the pen, right? This game better not go too deep in to extras.... I think Robin is willing to go through his pitchers pretty quickly right now because he knows he has Santiago if it goes long.
  17. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 05:42 PM) wow. playing with fire. tell me again why Veal is still on the team? We've seen how effective he can be if he can get his mechanics together.
  18. Holy Hell....somebody drive home a bloody run after that
  19. It'd be really nice to make that mistake count.
