  1. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 04:05 PM) Perhaps, but Williams and Anderson both look like pretty good LBs...At least going off of their # of tackles they put up. Not sure how they are in coverage which is probably a key if they stick with the cover 2. Worth noting that very few MLB's stay on the field for both running and passing situations.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 04:09 PM) The downside is the bullpen being pushed to get 12 outs isn't exactly a recipe for success. Let's just hope we don't see Thornton or Veal...but the odds of that happening are about 1.8% Despite recent setbacks, the Sox bullpen still has the 4th best ERA in MLB (2nd best in the AL).
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 02:31 PM) It seems they're a lot less scared of him. Something I've noticed this year is that he's hit a decent amount of deep fly balls that didn't make it to the warning track. Last year, those went over the fence for the most part. You've been writing this about him for 3 years.
  4. QUOTE (napa_soxfan @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 02:30 PM) How is he being pitched to overall? I rarely get to see a game, rather listen to them -- imagine with how sh*tty he's been that pitchers must be just attacking him gleefully. But are they going mostly inside/outside/high/low? Or all of the above?? Agree that he's become a pitcher's spot in the order. Pathetic. I feel like his biggest problem has been that pitchers are elevating the ball to him and he's swinging at stuff no one can catch up with.
  5. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 02:24 PM) Yeah, I see that, my feed is full of him retweeting people mentioning his 6th HR. I really think he might be a little full of himself. Is he doing that during a game or might someone else be doing it for him?
  6. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 02:10 PM) If the Bears have Patterson ranked as by far the best player on the board when they draft, I bet they would take him. They have lots of needs, but if they think Patterson is the next Julio Jones, they will probably take him. A lot of Patterson's value ought to be in the fact that he's a kick returner as well. The Bears already have substnantial cap invested in that spot.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 09:39 AM) That's really bad though too. I can only imagine what kind of bad habits he's learning doing that. If this is some kind of drill, which I'm guessing, they're probably doing it to try to alter some other bad habit of his.
  8. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 08:32 AM) I thought Manto said they first want to teach their minor leaguers how to hit and make contact, which requires them to be ultra aggressive initially. Once they've worked out any flaws and have mastered their swing, then they want them to become more selective. IIRC, he seemed to imply that it's hard to make adjustments if you're taking a ton of pitches and never swinging the bat. Not saying I agree or disagree, but I thought that was his approach to developing hitters at the minor league level. Also, Mully & Hanley just said Hawkins has taken 1 pitch in the last week or 10 days. If that's true, it's explains some of that 60% K rate. That means right now they have him literally doing some sort of intriguing drill in game action. Not sure I've ever heard of that being done before.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 01:49 AM) You'll definitely end up using it for #1 as opposed to #2. And I don't think a new one is coming out for at least 3-4 months. They released a "new version of the ipad" last fall with no fanfare at the same time they released the iPhone5. It was an incredibly minor upgrade at the time and since they stopped adding model numbers with the 3rd release, they didn't push it at all.
  10. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 07:41 AM) That has to be the record for longest impact on a rotation due to a single rainout. Didn't the Indians have about a week snowed out a few years ago?
  11. “@CST_soxvan: McAllister v Quintana Weds 1:10 Rays@ChiSox matchups Thurs: Hellickson v Sale Fri: Hernandez v Peavy Sat: Moore v Floyd Sun: Price v Axelrod”
  12. “@Skilling: It's official! April 2013 is now the wettest in 143 years of official wx obs. It's blown past the 66 yr old prev rec for Apr 8.33" in 1947.”
  13. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 04:43 PM) I'll make you click the link to see what they named the new college football playoff: http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/...playoff-sources Jim Delaney: ""I'll be happy w whatever. Obviously I'm not great with names." LMAO. Oh come on, it's only named that until they sign the contract. Soon it will be the Capital One __________.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 04:50 PM) Disgusting. They should really make it a crime for school officials to actively prevent/stall investigations or try and talk victims out of reporting someone. I'm surprised that girls father didn't beat the s*** out of the principal. If that was my daughter and I was being told that we should be quiet to keep a rapists scholarship options open, well, I'd probably be arrested myself. Welcome to our nation's rape culture.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 04:14 PM) Those would likely be the only people who could really show damages. That is the other part, people actually have to be damaged. Generally internet nonsense doesnt result in tangible damages. But in this case, being alleged to be a terrorist, actually being brought in for questioning, I think most would agree that is going to damage your reputation. That is why most of the time (maybe even 90%+) it doesnt matter. Its just when it comes to matters like this, you need to use a bit more tact/common sense before you parade around like you are the next Sherlock Holmes. But wouldn't the only reason why someone would be brought in for questioning be that the police wanted to question them, not that the police were watching Reddit? I can see how the guys who had their picture on the NY Post could make a case for damages if they weren't being brought in for questioning, but if a random person's picture showed up on Reddit and people speculated that they were looking the wrong way, that's a rough case to prove damages.
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 04:07 PM) Y2hh, The part you seem to be missing, is that those unknown idiots would be liable if they walked around the town making defamatory statements, etc. Its up to the individual to not start the witch hunt in the first place. Those are the people who are most responsible. But every other person who shared it, linked it, and disseminated it, also shares in the responsibility. Now the responsibilities drastically are reduced when it goes from publisher, to re-publisher to disseminator. The question for the future is who is a publisher, re-publisher and disseminator when it comes to the internet. Does anyone actually have standing to bring a case against anyone here other than the guys who were featured in the NY Post?
  17. QUOTE (joeynach @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) I see six of the nine players in this lineup with career OBP of below .340, what I would call league average. League average OBP this year so far is .317, last year was .318, 2011 was .320. League average OPS last year was .724.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 03:24 PM) That is unless he pitches like John Danks, than that deal becomes a bargain. (Or it's partially insured).
  19. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 03:08 PM) Its up to the owner of Reddit/Facebook to handle their own content. At the end of the day, they are making money from the hits, views, advertisements, they have a responsibility. Just like a newspaper has a responsibility for an op ed. At any point the owners of Reddit could have closed or deleted the thread. They are responsible. If the crowd-sourcing had actually picked the right person, you better you better you bet they'd be all over that too.
  20. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 02:42 PM) suspect was released http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/23/us/ricin-sus...ased/?hpt=us_c2 Great. So now we have no idea who committed either of the 2 terror attacks involving processed biochemical weapons and the US mail.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 01:18 PM) Apparently APs twitter feed got hacked, with some story about a bombing at the White House going up, panicking the markets into a 1%+ move almost immediately. The markets are now back to where they started. Crazy few minutes. So you're saying that if a person knew this was coming they could have made a fortune?
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 01:35 PM) I don't really understand the summer/christmas movies concept. If you release a Blockbuster in October or February it's going to KILL with the lack of selection. I'm hoping this Mark Wahlberg movie coming out Friday gets a decent enough review that we can go see it Saturday! When Kids are in school, they will go to fewer movies. Simple as that.
