Well, that's one way to get 2 quick outs. A quick walk and a quick DP. -

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) Is Robin going to the pen this inning? I'd like to protect this lead. Liriano hasn't given up a hit yet right? -

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 02:29 PM) under $4M no more I'd rather try some more of the kids from the farm if it cost more than that. I'd take him at that price. If I were the Dodgers, I'd also happily offer him 2x that. -
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) In that study, the Chicago charter schools outperformed the traditional public schools. Charter schools are a really complex issue. The evidence is that some of them do seriously outperform, but some of them seriously underperform, and a lot of it depends on how you set it up. If you set it up so that the Charter School is something that people want to get into, where there's a lottery and the parents of the kids actually are the ones most willing to be involved, they wind up being great successes, but you can't tell if that's because of the school or because of the fact that you selected the kids whose parents wanted to be involved. If you set it up so that there's no rules on them, they're just a way to save money, you wind up with schools that teach that the Trail of Tears was a way to bring the Native Americans to Christ (See: Louisiana) and no one cares about anything except stripping the money out. They're worth exploring, there really are benefits to having private run ones as a "reward" for the people who are involved heavily in their kids lives but are stuck in poor circumstances, but it's not a magic solution to make every education system better, and "competition" doesn't magically make the nearby public school system better if they wind up losing resources.

QUOTE (RZZZA @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) Day games bring out the b****iness in people. Probably because we all still got stuff to do and none of us can kick back and drink something/smoke something while watching this game I just finished a Sierra. -

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 02:23 PM) I'd still take a chance on him next year with Coop working on him in ST. You can only do so much with a staff mid season. I'd take a chance on him sure...but how much money are you putting onto that "Chance". You ready to take a $10 million chance on him? -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 02:20 PM) He complained about the trade a lot. Unfortunately, now, Stewart/Lilly= YOUK Harder to argue with that if the Sox make the playoffs. It's still easy to argue with that trade. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 02:19 PM) Liriano only has 60 pitches through 4. Working fast does a lot for pitchers with control issues. When he keeps his pitches down he's an ace. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) Highest dollar figure of a contract ever given to Latin American player under age 20. The guys the Cubs signed weren't under 20? -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 02:05 PM) A very clear trend/pattern/non-anomaly. I think he dislikes him because it was a Kenny Williams signing and if he becomes a monster, it becomes a great Kenny Williams signing. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 09:30 AM) Only if we can institute a food tax on you city dwelling bastards. How about the people living in the city just pay property and sales taxes and the people commuting pay tolls on the roads and train ticket prices?

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 05:53 PM) I hope Viciedo is benched when Dunn returns. Say this again, Dayan finally had some solid AB's yesterday.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 15, 2012 -> 01:54 AM) Meet Your 2013 AL champs: The KC Royals? Why not them? Aren't all their pitchers coming back from Tommy John Surgery this year? "Getting back to where you were beforehand" tends to take 18 months. And Hosmer...

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 10:22 PM) He made it a golf trip to kill two birds with one stone. "Now watch this drive"

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 10:21 PM) Juan Marinez is ready to pitch too Good. A 5 run lead is a good time.

QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 10:15 PM) Crain/Thornton Myers Reed Unless we add to the lead Can we avoid using Meyers for another day or two?

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 10:07 PM) 1) not mad at you. 2) You compared 200 ABs over three years (Johnson) to 400 ABs over three years (Wise). Those sample sizes are so small that you can't gain any insight out of that. I can't believe you seriously think Johnson hitting 3rd is a good idea.
-
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 10:03 PM) Way to list THE two exceptions to the rule in the past decade, brah. Great. Name the low Obp sluggers you're talking about that the sox have piled up.
-
QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 10:03 PM) And Dan Johnson has averaged 66 ABs/year over the last three years. It's like no one on this board knows anything about statistics. Batting Johnson 3rd is dumb. But he should have been starting against every RHP while Dunn was out. Now that Dunn is coming back soon, the point is moot. Then why are you all mad at me for saying that Johnson playing third is the same mistake as Wise hitting there?
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) I'm not saying start him over Dunn when Dunn returns. Just seems like while he's giving you good ABs, you might as well find a spot for him in the lineup with so many others are struggling. The person I was replying to, and who you backed up, wanted him hitting third. I won't be angry if he hits 8, but saying "wise is unacceptable, play Johnson" reminds me of the person who wanted Cutler traded after last night.
-
QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 09:59 PM) Most of our lineup swings at everything and anything. That's why we have such a low team OBP, which therefore leads to inconsistent run production. It isn't that difficult. Low OBP sluggers have been the model since KW took over. Yeah. That'swhy we traded for Thome, signed Dunn. Because those guys suck at Obp.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 14, 2012 -> 09:58 PM) Lastings Milledge is tearing it up in Japan. Just sayin' He'd be just as good a #3 hitter as Johnson. I'm in.
