  1. That was a good time for the bunt attempt, just a tough pitch to bunt.
  2. f***ing nice f***ing inning f***ing Gavin.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 08:55 PM) Jack McDowell is probably the closest thing to a "big game" pitcher the Sox have had since I have watched them. Garcia comes to mind for me. He was always on when e faced a good team.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) It would be interesting to see if the Tigers start Max over Verlander in game 1 of the playoffs if they make it. He's clearly the better pitcher right now. To set Verlander up for a game 5 if necessary?
  5. Come on Pepsi Presents New Zanzibar...
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 08:15 PM) You tend to have a better eye when bunting then you do when hitting. Longer time to react to the pitch when you are bunting vs. trying to get a hit. But for a guy who has literally never bunted once, the odds of him having practiced it are just none.
  7. f***ing nice f***ig inning f***ing Gavin.
  8. I like this standard. Any time anyone, anywhere, does not endorse the opinion of everyone in the country, they're apologizing for America on behalf of the president. mitt Romney apologizing for America. "Mr genius, do you think that all black men should be castrated"? "No, I believe that would be slightly unnecessary." -Mr Genius apologizing for America Mr president, do you support or condemn the opinion of Tigers fans that they need to win the central" "of course i condemn it" -president Obama apologizing for America.

  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 08:23 PM) How is Detroit not running away with it with this starting pitching of theirs? They dominate us and all their starters are studs. Leyland should be fired. With that staff along with Cabrera and Fielder how can they not be running away with this? They can't catch the ball.
  11. Decent work G, just get Jackson next time.
  12. Nice pitch. How Jackson didn't take 2nd there I'll never know.
  13. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 06:42 PM) Obama ordered the US embassy to apologize for a youtube video that hurt Muslims feelings. First of all, here's the actual statement that the embassy in Cairo sent out last night before the killings in Libya happened. Calling that an apology might seem silly to....anyone. Secondly, do you really think that even the secretary of state approves every communique sent out from every embassy in the world, let alone the President?
  14. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 06:23 PM) he apologized right when the rage began. frankly, he looks like an idiot for apologizing about a youtube video. The President did not issue a statement last night. His first statement on the matter happened this morning. Here is the text of his remarks and Secretary Clinton's remarks. Please point me to the apology.
  15. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 06:19 PM) Obama did apologize. When?
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 10:53 AM) The pastor with the moustache in Florida who did the Quran burning mess a year or two ago. Apparetly this post of mine earlier is incorrect, that pastor had nothing to do with the video despite early reports to the contrary and it's basically someone under a pseudonym who no one really knows, who produced the original youtube videos.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 06:00 PM) Yes and he pulled away thinking it was a ball. If he were swinging, he would have taken the pitch for strike 2. Not necessarily. He's changed his eye position by squaring around from where he's used to seeing the ball to a different spot. Especially in the case of a guy who is very used to seeing a pitch from a certain, and let's say "Unique" perspective, changing the eye location will have a big impact on whether or not he thinks its a strike. Whether it's a pitch he thought he wanted to bunt at and whether it was a pitch he'd have taken/swung at normally are 2 different things. That pitch was middle in, just below the waist, which actually happens to be in one of Youk's hot zones if you believe Yahoo. Heck, if the pitcher thoguht he was swinging, he probably wouldn't have thrown that pitch.
  18. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 05:13 PM) There are ways to figure out if teachers are good or bad, use them. Colleges do it, private schools do it...get it done. Or don't...and let the kids grow up in a world where they have no chance to even be middle class. And how many of them do those evaluations based on the students performance on standardized tests? I haven't seen a college do that. Know nothing of private schools. The colleges I've been through evaluate such things in house. They take student comments into account as a portion of it, then they have people within the same department do the evaluations with some outside guidance as to the person's scholarship or performance. But applied here, that'd be "Teachers evaluating teachers" which is considered unacceptable in this case.
  19. QUOTE (balfanman @ Sep 12, 2012 -> 05:06 PM) I think that this is for the best. I think that Wise plays shallower in CF, according to D.J., and can get to balls that DeAza plays too deep for. I believe that a ball fell in front of DeAza again last night. OTOH, I've seen balls that De Aza has barely caught that would have been over Wise's head.
