  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 07:05 PM) The problem is that EVERYONE'S confidence in Reed is shrinking by the day. We can make the excuse that Danks lost that ball, but you really think Mariano Rivera would use that as an alibi if he managed to blow a 3 run lead in a similar situation? I don't think so. No...Rivera wouldn't....but Reed also didn't blow a 3 run lead.
  2. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 07:03 PM) I know according to Hawk, Danks is the "best defensive outfielder in the organization" and I don't know, maybe he is a good defensive centerfielder, but from what he's shown he is not a very good defensive left fielder. At this point in time, replacing Viciedo with him is actually a defensive downgrade. He will be a very good defensive OF...but when you put a rookie into a new league, new ballparks, and have him mostly coming off the bench, rookie mistakes happen. Doesn't change what his long term defensive prognosis would be, but one does need to take experience into account when using him as a replacement.
  3. Chris Sale good. Everyone's annoyed at D2 and Reed and Myers.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 06:59 PM) If not for the great defense by Viciedo/Ramirez in LF, it would be a tie game. Of course, if we could actually get one good swing with the bases loaded and stop freaking hitting pop ups, then we would have been able to use Veal/Jones at the end of the game. THen again, if not for a play by Danks, the game is over with a 123 9th.
  5. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 07:00 PM) BTW how did Sale look today? Control was iffy early but then settled in after a close play at the plate/Mark Parent ejection, retired his last 10 batters, could probably have gone more but good choice to save his arm by going to the pen.
  6. How many iffy outings in a row did Santiago have before he lost the job?
  7. Crain in! Good call Robin, even if it winds up not working.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 05:54 PM) Tonight sets up as a HUGE game in that Angels/Tigers series. CJ Wilson vs. Verlander, and then Greinke Sunday, who has been about as hot as any pitcher in baseball the last 4 or so starts. Angels win tonight, the sweep definitely happens with how the Angels have been playing the last 10+ days. Flowers now with 9 walks, 49 K's. There is no such thing as "Definitely" in baseball.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 05:48 PM) Struggling Francouer, Lefty Moustakas, Switch Pena Ventura will DEFINITELY be tempted, since he's put down 10 in a row. With no offday in here, expanded bullpen, and Detroit coming to town...I definitely stop Sale here...but that's just not how Ventura's handled him this year.
  10. Well there's a Konerko Kontribution.
  11. Good quick 6th for Sale. 101 pitches through 6. Retired his last 10. Personally I'd pull him now because of who we face next time out, but Robin probably has him start the 7th.
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 05:41 PM) Except Lilly really faded in the 2nd half of the season, and Tyler's been a breath of fresh air defensively as well as the fact that HOPEFULLY we'll be in the playoffs at the end of this year, whereas last year in many respects was even worse than 2007 for Sox fans. Lillibridge's 2011 splits: 1st half OPS: .816 2nd half OPS: .898 Hit 6 HR in August.
  13. Heart of their order this inning...be big for Sale to get through this unscathed then hand it to the pen.
  14. 91 pitches through 5 for Sale. 7 in arow retired since that play at the plate.
  15. Quick inning for Chris. Hoping for, that is.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 05:02 PM) Very questionable ball/strike call there against Escobar which caused a 10 pitch AB and then the call at the plate. Sale at 66 pitches. Will be lucky to get through 5. Which exposes the Sox bullpen while Chen cruises through 7 and 8 and they can save their 2-3 best relievers. Chen is throwing a lot of pitches too.
  17. Good at bat by Escobar. Royals working Sale over.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 04:35 PM) Got a fastball up to 94. Not many swings and misses on Sale pitches today. Almost all foul balls, maybe one swing and a miss, heading for 40+ pitches through 2. Thankfully tailor-made DP 6-4-3 gets them out of the inning. Sale's "weariness" and innings pitched seems to be the topic of conversation with all scouts regarding Sale/Strasburg. The 37pitches is caused by him having thrown 16 balls and 21 strikes. Too many out of the zone.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 8, 2012 -> 04:29 PM) The problem is that Marty34 will use this as further evidence that Viciedo should ONLY play against LHP. 20 HR, 60 RBI's for Dayan. Heading for around 25 HR, 68-74 RBI's. Certainly not a bad season, and some of those homers have been huge. With how Wise is hitting right now...I'm not sure even I'd be mad about platooning DV for a week.
  20. If you're blacked out, please go to MLB.com, find the "Contact Customer Support" link and send a brief complaint email. It can't hurt.
  21. Anyone who felt the urge to do some rudimentary PBP in here, it would be appreciated. Sending usual angry emails to Fox and MLB about their stupid ****ing blackout rules.
