Nicely done Dayan. Early lead against these bleepers.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 19, 2012 -> 07:21 PM) I didn't mean to argue that they are ineffective, trust me I know what they do. They affected the game and still do. Baseball fans tend to think that certain players are competely ineffective vs all-star minus steroid use...I don't think that's true. There are possible exceptions but generally speaking. Frankly, I think that might be the case for the worst abusers. I'm not sure Giambi, Palmeiro are ever all-stars without them.

Viciedo still going after the high fastball.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 19, 2012 -> 07:24 PM) Yeah, I'm stuck with Red Sox/Phillies I get the Fox game so rarely I really want to sympathize with you.

Come on DV, plate something!

Like the line drive there Becks, just not enough distance to get past the RF.

QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 19, 2012 -> 07:19 PM) I truly hate Fox Saturday baseball...Farmio and Darin again for me. At. Least. I. Get. The. Game.

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ May 19, 2012 -> 07:18 PM) Thought that was due to Flintstone vitamins.... That was only what they testified.

Beat them senseless John.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 19, 2012 -> 07:12 PM) Chance everyone will get to hear the beautiful voice of Hillary Clinton. Oh Hell. I loved watching an "Americas coal companies" political action committee ad including footage from Occupy Wall Street rallies.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 19, 2012 -> 07:10 PM) Most baseball fans overestimate the usefulness of steroids. Have you watched the last 2 decades of baseball at all? 2 different 30/30 hitters multiplied by 1.5 in size and hit 60-75 HR a year for a 5 year stretch.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 19, 2012 -> 06:52 PM) Orlando Hudson To Sign With White Sox By Zach Links [May 19 at 4:32pm CST] Free agent Orlando Hudson claims that he is set to sign with the White Sox, according to Peter Gammons of MLB.com (via Twitter). The second baseman was released by the Padres on Thursday afternoon. The veteran was hitting just .211/.260/.317 in 35 games for San Diego this year and wasn't terribly helpful in grooming the club's young talent. Hudson will earn $5.5MM this year as well as the $2MM buyout he is owed for the 2013 season. There's a rebuilding team eating more than $6 million...albeit they were going to lose the $2 million regardless. So that's perfect, KW is signing a veteran player (see AJ) who may or may not be the most helpful in working with younger players (see Morel) in a rebuilding effort. Win now, baby! Forget about all the rebuilding/development talk. This organization is so bi-polar. Seems like we're doomed to win between 75-83 games every season until we're all in the grave. I'm probably Morel's biggest fan and I have zero issue with this. The dude flat out is not healthy. He had that cortisone shot last week, came out, and immediately looked better for a couple days with the bat. Legit line drives again. Then he went right back to struggling with his back, striking out, having his defense suffer, and now we're talking about him going to the DL after missing games. Eduardo Escobar is not going to make anyone believe he deserves to be the starting MLB 3rd baseman for the next 2+ weeks, maybe more if this is a serious rehab back problem. DL Morel, get him legitimately healthy, and then we can worry about developing the 3b. Playing Escobar every day at the big league level isn't even a development move.

Oh, one more Trib blurb:

QUOTE (Jake @ May 19, 2012 -> 06:30 PM) Wait, we're not picking up his contract right? Here's the phrasing: If the Sox were picking up his contract, it would be termed "Claiming Hudson on Waivers". The fact that he's being "Signed" means he's cleared waivers, had his contract essentially guaranteed/bought out by the Padres, and the Sox can sign him for the league minimum. So, short answer, no.

One day after giving up Twitter, Ozzie Guillen rips Dwyane Wade.

Just go away. Seriously. We have enough trolls in PHT.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 19, 2012 -> 05:42 PM) The Padres would rather pay the O Dog NOT to play for them than play for them. The PADRES. The O Dog probably can outperform the current version of Morel and he's probably slightly better than Escobar at this point, but he's no savior. I really wonder about Morel's back. The difference in his swing the 2 days right after his cortisone shot was palpable. Then it went away rapidly, and within a few days we're talking about his back again. His back has to be in bad shape right now.

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 19, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) That's what I keep thinking about...is when Mark hit Hafner in the face with a curveball or whatever...I couldn't remember if they drilled one of our hitters or not, but had they, unless it was like 100 mph at the head, I would have sort of chalked that up to them having to protect their hitters. Since then, it seems like we've hit Hafner a million times. I am always worried one time he is just going to say enough is enough and charge the mound and kill our pitcher, regardless of who that might be at the time. Once the Sox got to 2 outs, nobody on the next inning, I think they plunked Dye in the back. He then stole 2nd and came around to score.

QUOTE (That funky motion @ May 19, 2012 -> 05:33 PM) Can he play 3rd? He hasn't in the bigs, but I'd assume that has to be part of the m otivation for getting him.

Well, Kenny always gets his man.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 19, 2012 -> 04:56 PM) It clearly wasn't the same Manny Ramirez, and clearly wasn't going to be the same Manny Ramirez. Some people here were hoping that he'd do the same thing he did when he first came to the Dodgers, come out motivated for several weeks and really make a difference. I still hated the move, but I hated it because I hate acquiring roiders. I got the concept, but the roid factor really jumps the risk (suspensions, injuries, struggling without the drugs, selling your soul).

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 19, 2012 -> 05:03 PM) I don't get that either. I saw Mitch Williams on the baseball network calling the pitch at LaHair "stupid" also. Was the LaHair pitch at his head? That'd be the only thing I'd complain about. I got no problem throwing at a guy if the situation causes it. The Indians hit a Sox player after Buehrle plunked Hafner in the head once, no one thought it was on purpose, but a guy on the Sox was going to get hit and that's how things should happen. Just don't throw the purpose pitch where a slip could make it hit a person's head.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ May 19, 2012 -> 05:16 PM) And then give up 24 straight points in a quarter to the Spurs. I'm not sure which takes more effort and skill.
-
Apparently, you can pull off a 33-11 quarter against the Spurs.
