  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:46 AM) Well the loss last night sucked, but it will be interesting to see how this team bounces back, to see what the mental make up of this group is. Ozzie would have had a hissyfit last night about something. Maybe 5 years ago. Last year's Ozzie would have done nothing.
  2. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 07:54 AM) If they keep playing those guys, people will stop coming to the ballpark. No one anywhere should care about this.
  3. Said the whole offseason that this year was about "Development". Developing these guys, except maybe in Beckham's case, means at bats and dealing with the struggles. Play the guys and stop complaining.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 10:38 PM) Well at least we know that the Wiz are just an MVP and an All-Star away from being a decent team. I'm this close to losing hope with the Bulls this season and calling them a first round knockout. Think of it, if you're playing the Bulls in the first round, the formula is pretty simple. 2 hard hits in game 1 on Derrick Rose and he misses the next 3 games. Then, you start swatting at Deng's wrist.
  5. QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 17, 2012 -> 08:30 AM) I really dont watch the NBA until the playoffs but is it mostly the scheduling that is a big reason for all these injuries? So many stars are missing significant amount of time. Why couldnt the NBA just do a 50-55 game schedule like they did for the last lockout? I'm guessing tv contracts/$$$ is the main reason for 66 games in 4 months time? Exactly.
  6. Nice recovery philip! Lotta runners stranded, that's his night though.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 09:35 PM) Tied for 26th with 18 walks. Pittsburgh last with 13. 25th in OBP at .291 Again, Texas and Detroit...not exactly slouches in terms of pitching.
  8. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 09:04 PM) I did, but once Morel has 2 strikes on him, there is no fight whatsoever. The umpire gave him no shot. It was the same pitch that was thrown 8 inches off the outside corner but called strike 2. Vlad Guerrero would have struggled to make contact on that.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) And now people will complain about Morel when that one was a strikeout on the umpire. Like i said, lots of random complaints about Morel, no one other than me mentions that the ump gave him no shot.
  10. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 09:01 PM) #)(%*#@%)%#@ damnit Brent Morel, what the hell? Did you see the called 2nd strike 8 inches off the outside corner? He had to try to slap at that ball because the umpire already called it a strike that at bat.
  11. And now people will complain about Morel when that one was a strikeout on the umpire.
  12. That's quite a bit bigger of an outside corner than Humber got last inning.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 08:56 PM) With how the AL Central looks so far, not sure that's saying much. Overall, you'd absolutely have to take Verlander/Scherzer/Porcello and a healthy Fister, but they definitely have some issues at the back of their rotation for the time being. There's a lot of talent sitting in their 5/6 starter spot though...hard to know what that will mean long term of course, but they've got the kids to fill the role. Of course, if Porcello throws the whole year like he did yesterday, the 5th starter spot isn't going to cost them too much.
  14. Good job of hitting there by Davis, that was an inside corner strike that he got around on for a single. That pitch would put a lot of guys away.
  15. These guys are fouling off a lot of pitches so far.
  16. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) Rios looking...smart. Arietta wasn't paying attention to him so he went on first movement and forced a bad throw. Solid running.
  17. QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 08:40 PM) Wrong thread. Crud.
  18. QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 08:35 PM) At what point do we seriously consider shutting him down, his career is more important then the title. Hopefully these aren't "Related" injuries. If they are then you'd be right. If not...then this might be something we start seeing forever, that last year was his best season because his body can't take it. He wouldn't be the first.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 08:15 PM) Phil bringing the heat. I don't remember him consistently throwing 92-93 MPH in the 2nd half last year. Still has that dreaded Uncle Charlie, too. Hard to blame the fans too much, it's the Orioles, after all. They showed up this weekend, especially on Sunday. But April games (weeknight) are always difficult. His average fastball last year was 90.6, but almost every game he got some up to 93.
  20. Orioles announcers just thanked the White Sox broadcasting team for supplying them with some delicious chocolate and caramel turtles.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2012 -> 04:07 PM) I was having the discussion with someone at work today, that the team already seemed smarter. I haven't seen any of the baseball IQ blunders that plagued this team in the last few years. Guys aren't throwing to wrong bases, missing cutoff men, running into outs, or screwing up rundowns this year. I know it is early, and this is small sample size, but is anyone else seeing it? Rios did have that bonehead drop in the OF the other day, and De Aza had a complete misplay yesterday that cost a run. Don't know if those count or not, but that's what comes to mind so far.
