  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 20, 2012 -> 11:31 AM) I think the Bulls can win the first series without Rose and would probably be even/slight advantage against the Celtics if that was the round 2 match up. I think against Philly or Milwaukee they could win it without him, but that's going to be a major fight, and if they lose a game because he comes back and has to shake off rust, things are even worse. I think Rondo would torch the Bulls without Rose in there, and that would be the difference in that series.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 20, 2012 -> 11:11 AM) I love Wilbon, but Christ does his Cub-fandom come out sometimes: http://espn.go.com/chicago/nba/story/_/id/...g-chicago-bulls The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Everyone run for cover! I'm not sure he's wrong. Without a healthy Derrick Rose, this team would have a rough go even just in the first round. If they get the Celtics in round 2 and they have a 75% Rose or worse...they're going to lose that series.
  3. Can I ask what happened yesterday to prompt this? Missed game.
  4. Ok, thanks steve, could never keep that rule straight.
  5. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 20, 2012 -> 10:02 AM) That can't happen. Bulls will play Sixers/Knicks (or long shot Bucks) and then either Boston or Atlanta. Bulls will get the Pacers in the Finals if both get there. It's interesting that both the #1 seed and the #2 seed have difficult and "easier" 1st and 2nd round matchups. In the first round the Sixers stink (easier) but the Knicks (harder) have the potential to pull off the upset. In the 2nd you'd have either Boston/Atlanta (harder) or the Pacers (easier). Wait...isn't it the case that the #3 seed in the conference is going to go to the division winner in the East (The Celtics)? Or have they re-edited this rule again?
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 11:36 AM) Could the government give you some kind of tax credit if you actually serve on a jury? Of course it "Could", but that would be expensive.
  7. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 12:31 PM) Obviously no way we bring him back at $22M for '13, but I see another possibility. Jake has talked about and acted like he feels "guilty" for not performing better for the Sox for the money he's made in his time here. I see a Kerry Wood-like Hometown Discount in our future. We'll see. With the Sox's recent history, I'm not sure they'll want him back. They're so aggressive with minor leaguers...they're probably hoping Molina can take a rotation spot next year.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 10:50 AM) Especially a face of the franchise guy. That stuff needs to take place in the locker room if at all possible. Maybe months down the road, after everything else has failed, then you go public, but not now. I could see motivations that could work for going public now, if you think there's a serious problem (and that clubhouse...that might be the case)...but then you better be ready either to explain the statements or to stand by them when you get called out by the rest of the team. More likely here, his brain is still just in ESPN Analyst mode.
  9. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 10:41 AM) Sunday lineup may be better than the everyday lineup. MVP Candidate AJ Pierzynski disagrees.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 10:36 AM) They have no flexibility, as they are trying to avoid the new cap restrictions. Yeah, they dumped Scutaro to get under the luxury tax this year, regardless of whether it lost them games. They're a mess right now for the next couple years financially.
  11. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 09:52 AM) Honestly, the Red Sox just need to break that team up if those comments have been that big of a deal, bunch of guys who haven't matured past elementary school. "Breaking up the team" might have been a reasonable response to how things went down last year... Except for the fact that Theo has left them in an absolute mess of a financial situation, and their ownership group won't tolerate a "multi year rebuilding" process.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 09:38 AM) I swore Dunn had a hit off a lefty in one of the first games of the season... Nope, it was July 4. I was there in person. He got a standing O.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 09:40 AM) Also, Robin has shown a pattern so far of getting bench guys work, but NOT running out the infamous "Sunday Lineup". I don't think I've seen him play more than 2 bench guys at once yet (at least to start the game). I think there are 3 in the lineup today.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 09:35 AM) Or a month down in Charlotte. Again, I'll leave this one in Manto and Ventura's hands to decide. If they think that's the right move, I won't be mad. He's simply not the same hitter he was at any point in his career. He's normally a ~75 strikeout/600 PA guy, through the minors and last season. Right now he's on pace for >250.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 09:33 AM) I just don't see the value in those products. You said this was a lifestyle change...so are you willing to buy these products for the rest of your life, too? I just really hesitate to use something that will boost my ability to workout more if I take it than when I don't, because then what happens when I don't? Will I feel as though my workouts are subpar? I'll go about as far as protein shakes, because I do believe they are a convenient way to help repair damaged muscles as a result of frequent exercise. Other than that, I just try to keep everything as maintainable and natural as I can (diet, routine, etc.). That way, I have the best chance of continuing these habits as time goes on. Having more muscle on your frame does enable you to burn more calories in a normal day...so if some product were to enable you to either build that muscle or to recover more rapidly from your early workouts after starting a new routine, it could make the shift in long-term behavior easier. That's all very vague obviously though. One thing you could do is buy them for the rest of your life as you noted and just have that be part of the lifestyle change.
  16. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 09:24 AM) Lilli, take advantage of the opportunity, and do some work in the 2 hole, please. Everything in this post sounds dirty.
  17. Bulls @ Heat tonight. KC says Deng likely to go, but almost certainly no Rose. Bulls have 2 games on the Heat in the loss column, so losing this one just means they have a little longer to go to clinch the East, but they only have 1 game in the loss column on the Spurs (Spurs have more games to play), so a loss tonight means that the 2 teams would effectively be tied for the #1 overall. Magic # for the East is 3.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 08:51 AM) Depends on the season. If we are out of it, the playing time will shift for sure. I hear what you're saying, I just don't feel like AJ's going to be a guy who will give up his playing time even on a losing team. Especially with how he's started. If Tyler is going to get enough playing to to tell whether he's failing or not as a regular, AJ might have to be traded.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 08:49 AM) Wait until we invade Kentucky!
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 08:48 AM) Unless Flowers absolutely bombs, I can't see AJ back. It's hard to see Tyler getting enough playing time to really have the chance to be great or bomb.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 19, 2012 -> 02:03 AM) A 31 year old journeyman pitcher is going to block Rienzo. Seriously? "Guys getting held at a lower level where they start piling up numbers" has been one of the things KW does right before he trades a guy.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 10:13 PM) Poor Brent looks to be the only whipping boy after tonight's game. Beckham had a key RBI, Rios is getting on base, Dunn with 2 walks and the bases clearing double, Peavy looked strong again... Whereas Brent had one of his two worst games of the season (the other was in Texas where he had 4 K's, an error and then messed up the potential double play that led to the winning RBI from Michael Young). The thing that bothered me was that after Brent's last K, you could read on his face how dejected he was. That's when the kid needs a day off.
  23. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 11:19 PM) Lillibridge at third, Escobar at second, flowers catching thurs matinee - Daryl Van Schouwen Seems reasonable and necessary.
