  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) Not only was he bunting, but on a 2-0 count. With nobody out.
  2. Rios would have been caught off 2b if anyone had been covering the base
  3. QUOTE (almagest @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) We are hammering Perkins this inning. Not sure why Lillibridge is squaring around. Probably because it's Duensing on the mound, so bunting off Perkins would be difficult.
  4. 2 free outs today in places where we shouldn't have been bunting.
  5. That was a solid swing by Rios on a ball that wasn't easy to hit. It wasn't elevated like last night's 2b.
  6. That facade is in play? I'm surprised.
  7. Lillibridge thinks that HR was wimpy.
  8. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:58 PM) what can't lillibridge do? Start
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:52 PM) Did the Sox announcers even talk about it? I know the Twins announcers showed the replay and were like, wow, that wasn't even close. Not like Hawk sometimes obsesses over calls.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) C'mon Morel. If you're going to have a 585 OPS, at least MOVE THE RUNNER to 2B. That's all we're asking. Not a double, not a homer, just a productive AB. Then don't ask a guy who isn't a great bunter to bunt. He's good at putting the ball in play, he doesn't strike out a lot, why not hit and run?
  11. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) If JFP has a great 2012, he should sign for the league minimum with us as a way to pay back all of the money he stole as a member of this ballclub. Just sayin. And the White Sox should return that money to the insurance company too. After all it's only fair.
  12. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:42 PM) Peavy's stuff has been nothing more than ordinary this year. Considering that he has been pitching on 6 days rest most of the year, I don't know that it will get better over the offseason. Why on Earth wouldn't it? If Strasburg comes back in late September and is throwing 91 in a start and doesn't have the great changeup, will you say that his stuff wouldn't get better over the offseason?
  13. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) How many career HR is Thome sittin on? 598
  14. QUOTE (chisoxt @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:39 PM) I would take Mike Rizzo over KW any day. In the limited he has been there, he has done a nice job with the Nats, though it was stupid of him not to have pedaled Dunn last year.Whether he 'screwed' Kenny last year at the trade deadline is anybody's guess, but in my view if he did renig on a deal that would have sent Jackson and another Sox prospect to Washington in return for three months of a slumping Adam Dunn, it probably saved Kenny from making one more of his stupid deadline deals. Rizzo's approach of scouting, drafting, and player development is the way to go in today's game, and until JR understands this, it will be a long time before this franchise contends on a consistent basis. Jayson Werth's $126 million and .222 average/.707 OPS fully agree that blowing that kind of money on Adam Dunn is crazy. Until the White Sox understand that you can't blow that kind of money on players and you have to draft and develop like the Nationals do, they'll never succeed.
  15. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:38 PM) Kenny has been good with reclamation projects guys like Humber and smaller moves have paid dividends So we're in a situation where the minor moves keep paying off bigtime and the major moves keep busting big time.
  16. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 10:21 AM) I am expecting spot starts here and there, just like Castro. With the dog days of summer coming up, you cant expect AJ to go out there every day for weeks on end. Yeah, yeah, so I was in a bumping thread move. Tyler Flowers has 9 plate appearances since being called up. Castro was good for at least 1, if not 2 starts a week while healthy. AJ has had 2 starts off since Castro got hurt (other than the AS break). He had July 19th and July 31st off. AJ also played as a sub in both of those games. AJ Pierzynski has played in every game since Castro got hurt for the Sox. AJ since the AS break is hitting .206, .657 OPS.
  17. That had to be 425+.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) I think Peavy is going to have a great year for the Sox next year. He's got good stuff, good command and should be a lot stronger a year from now. The question has to be whether he'll get the snap back on his slider. With that pitch he can be a very good pitcher, without that pitch he's not going to be able to put away RH hitters regularly.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) Or take back the Javy deal and stick Chris B. Young in CF. That would be a pretty potent line-up. Chris Young really hasn't been that dominant of a bat and he's got a contract that is moderately expensive for his performance as of this year.
  20. Twins announcers noting that Flowers has 8 at bats since being called up, gives me an urge to track down the thread where someone insisted to me that AJ would get his normal time off with a rookie as his backup.
  21. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) Blind squirrel finds acorn! For a blind squirrel, Hawk always seems to dominate that contest.
  22. QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) Hawk's Pick to Click...Rios. BHWHWAAHAHAAA! Hawk picked Rios last night and I think he won with him.
