  1. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 04:09 PM) Thank god you're an asshole and you don't tell the truth. Chris Sale should be untouchable. Sale is warming, in case anyone was really worried.
  2. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 04:19 PM) Kenny did nothing...he had no prospects to trade for over-rated, over-paid veterans. Dayan Viciedo
  3. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 04:16 PM) This tweet from Brad Biggs, very nicely surmises the clusterf*** that now is the Bears offensive line. So, Olin Kreutz led a group that allowed the most sacks in the league and I'm supposed to be mad that he's gone?
  4. Well, I was out getting the iPhone restored, I see Mark! did his thing. I assume that means Kenny did not.
  5. I really don't see how you'd conclude from what I've seen that "Spencer at best was as good as Kreutz."
  6. The answer to the trivia question is "Frank Thomas and Jim Thome". Anyone else get to 500 after 2005?
  7. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 02:55 PM) I'll admit it's an overpay, but it's not like the extra $500K is going to financially influence how the Bears can improve their team this year or the future. And it's only a one-year deal. Things like this are never about money, they wind up being about how the guy feels disrespected somehow because the team doesn't give in immediately to honor his years of service. The team is probably focused on the fact that he really wasn't all that good last year and not wanting to pay just out of what he did 5 years ago.
  8. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) It's clear that everyone BUT the front office wants Olin back. I mean he is the team leader of the offense just as Urlacher is the leader of the defense. I think this will be a huge mistake, even if Olin is on the downturn of his career. Bears are so far under the cap, it makes no sense to be such penny pinchers on this one-year deal to Olin. Give him the extra $500K, and reward a guy who has been the leader of this franchise for the past decade. Someone pointed out over at Talkbears that $4 million for a C is a ton. Jeff Saturday makes half that.
  9. Morel hit that ball harder than Ellsbury thought he could
  10. Solid single for Tyler Flowers.
  11. QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 02:40 PM) its a Sunday afternoon, against the Red Sox and the Sox are 3 games out of first, and there looks to be plenty of empty seats in the outfield and upper deck. looks like the fans arent coming out now. Friday's attendance was 27k. On "Frank Thomas statue" day
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 02:39 PM) That is fine but trading CQ has to be looked at today this team is not even .500. I think it's clear it was looked at, just a price could not be met.
  13. Dunn couldn't catch up with 93-94.
  14. Threw the 1-1 fastball by him.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) Verlander, of course, has a no hitter through 5 against the Angels. Royals will tease us by leading the Indians early and collapse late. You'd have to say Verlander, Weaver and Sabathia are clearly the 3 best pitchers in the AL if not in all of baseball. Verlander is beating Weaver.
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 02:12 PM) Has Pedroia had an AB where Hawk didn't mention he is one of the best fastball hitters in baseball? According to Sony he can't hit the high outside fastball
  17. Nice catch Lilli.
  18. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) I think they are at least two bodies short. We really don't have one above-average offensive lineman. Carimi could be that, but he is a rookie playing on the left side. Webb is huge, but still super raw. Williams is awful. Garza is decent, but old. Lance Louis blows. We really could use three more starting-level offensive linemen. One center, one guard and one swing tackle. Jay Cutler can be an Pro Bowl quarterback, but he won't ever be more than average at the position with the way the Bears have built the team around him. Personally I think a Carimi, Williams, Center, Garza, Webb line is at least the makings of a decent line, but there's no "Center" right now.
  19. The statue is legitimately his size. Wish it was pre-swing still, but that's one guy who deserves a statue.
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 08:59 AM) Weaver vs Verlander today. That is quite stimulating. Ordonez tags Weaver to start the scoring.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 01:15 PM) Rios will be playing tmrw against Sabathia even if he shoots 76 kids at the Sox/Bulls Academy. No. Not funny. Too soon if nothing else.
  22. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 01:11 PM) I disagree, Bears got a little lucky last season but they also didn't even try against GB in week17 and had a couple losses against the Seahawks/Redskins that more likely would be wins if replayed. Yeah...that was an 11 fluke win team that could have been a 12 or 13 win team if they game-planned a little more effectively early in the season. That said...they could have been a 15 win team if they had a moderately good O-Line, and they're a body short on there now.
