  1. Valverde didn't even look at Lillibridge there.
  2. Perfect first pitch by Valverde, almost impossible to bunt.
  3. The Elf ought to wind up on 2nd really quick here. Just make sure he's going home.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 03:40 PM) If AJ gets on and the Sox do something this inning, Tyler Flowers is going to play. If Brent Lillibridge doesn't pinch run here...
  5. I so thought AJ was going to try to walk to first on ball 3 there.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) I agree, but I don't think we can expect this team to magically sweep Detroit in Detroit. We've blown way too many home games. If they can't do things like finish off a sweep after being spotted 3 runs, then they don't deserve the division.
  7. Hawk complimenting Hooters on their fish sandwich is somehow creepy.
  8. Newscorp appears to have broken into Jude Law's phone while he was on American soil, putting it in violation of U.S. law.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 03:26 PM) It's a tough loss but we can't expect to beat Detroit all 3 on the road. At this point...we don't have time for tough losses any more. We've given up too many games to fail to win these when we have a chance.
  10. Cedric Benson was arrested in Texas on assault charges.
  11. Brandon Allen provided Ian Kennedy's run support yesterday.
  12. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 03:16 PM) I think if he works on some of his other pitches he'll turn out to be a good starter I think the biggest thing in the way of him being a good starter is health. He needs to build up the innings and strength...working in the Pen of course doesn't necessarily help that.
  13. Man, the Tigers seem to get a much wider outside corner than we do.
  14. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) That was sick Sale seems like he always comes in, gives up that first hit, then murders everyone else
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) Just seems he loses it so fast...Leyland might have won this game by putting the runners in motion. Humber sorta lost his release point earlier in the game too, the 3rd inning I think, but he didn't get burned beyond that first run. Then he snapped back and killed again.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) Humber's mechanics were off in that inning. You could see he was falling off pretty hard to his left, and every pitch was sailing to his left. I was surprised Cooper didn't come out, esp. after the 4 pitch Ordonez walk.
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 03:04 PM) How was Humber today? I had to do something and missed the runs. It seemed like he had a lot of facial gestures in the early innings I watched. I didn't see CQ's blunder. He's been pretty good out there this year. Was it a rare big-time error? I had hopes for the offense. Not good to have a s***ty game against Penny. Bottom line is we need to get clutch hits or we aren't doing anything the second half. Humber had about 4 great innings and 2 iffy innings. He really struggled with his control here in the 6th. But...Alexei had a real bad play that turned into a double. Quentin didn't make a "big" error but he's bobbled 2 balls this same inning.
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 02:52 PM) I thought it'd look like an impoverished hellhole with mediocre architecture and crumbling buildings and infrastructure. It looked like a modern city, I guess I kind of figured it would look like the pictures of the Cuban countryside that we see here (Cuba is a place I'd someday love to visit if things ever changed to the point where I could). I don't know how they got all those things with their borderline non-existent economy. I guess the trade with China helps them out a lot. The picture I had in my head of Tehran looked like a typical sterile medium-sized Middle Eastern city with no personality. It's not like that at all. Then I forget that Iran/Persia is thousands of years old and it's only been what it is now for slightly longer than I've been alive and before that it had a lot of Western influence. They basically have everything we have over there. Have you noticed the small-ish set of hills-moderate topography in what I believe was the northern half of Tehran? At some point those hills are going to demolish the rest of the city. Google Earth is wonderful for Geology; you don't need to license satellite photos to use it.
  19. Defense this inning = terrible.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 02:36 PM) It's essential we get Humber out of this game in time today, instead of waiting a batter or two too late as has happened several times thus far this year. Otherwise, we're going to lose this one 4-3... Sadly, I just don't see how you can pull him after 80 pitches, even if this may be the worst possible situation with Cabrera up.
  21. Philip a little wild here.
  22. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 02:39 PM) I dont care he missed the ball, I more care that after he commits the error Rios has to run in from CF because Ramirez doesnt even attempt to go after it. Did he actually see where the ball went?
