White Sox Sign Dunn
QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) Now we have Dunn and Jackson! Suck it, Bowden. He gets our first round draft pick.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) Viciedo plays in Charlotte next year or gets traded? If they sign both, I can't see any way he stays with the org.

White Sox Sign Dunn
If he stays healthy, that's approximately $330,000/HR.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:42 PM) Lazy? I'd settle for a single job offer. Maybe you should remember these words:

White Sox Sign Dunn
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:30 PM) I disagree, as this is a situation where they went head-to-head with other teams financially to land a player. Oh come on fathom...you've defined it to the point that it's just meaningless. Half the other teams in the AL could have had Rios and none of them wanted him at that cost (and no other teams were reported to put in a claim on him either). Peavy was known to be available for months before we traded for him, and no other teams met the price.

Bobby Jenks
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:13 PM) I think he'd be very good, and heck, a move to closer might help his arm out. The issue with this is...what do we do with Ozzie's usual desire for 2 lefty setup men in the bullpen.

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:10 PM) Pelosi forced a vote on extending middle class tax cuts, and decoupled tax cuts for people making over 250k. It passed, with only 3 GOP votes saying yes. Wait it passed? I thought they were going to have to run that as a suspension vote, so that they required 67%. I have no idea how she pulled that rabbit out of her hat.

QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) I'm glad that they cut ties with Jenks (thank you for 2005), but I hope that they don't go into this year with a closer by committee approach. If Sale isn't a starter, I would think he would be a good option. Who would the White Sox realistically bring in to close from another organization and who is a realistic (and not a pipe dream) free agent that the Sox would bring in? Outside of the org, and outside of trading options, Rafael Soriano, JJ Putz, Mariano Rivera, Octavio Dotel, Kevin Gregg, Jon Rauch, Brian Fuentes, Manny Corpas, Kerry Wood, Trevor Hoffman are some names that exist on the FA market. Very few of them are reasonable or very good.

White Sox Sign Dunn
QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) Definitely, so I guess we can live with Quentin's horrible glove in RF. Make sure you have a couple competent backups for when he hurts himself on a play.

White Sox Sign Dunn
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 03:59 PM) If Dunn is signed and the Sox go out and grab D.Lee, how many other holes are there? Closer? Another bullpen arm? At least 1 bullpen arm, possibly more, along with catcher.

White Sox Sign Dunn
QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) Then you have Quentin after that who's at least good for a .350 wOBA. Now if only he can not play RF... Only way that can happen is if you either put Dunn in RF, or drop one of Lee and Dunn.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) My guess is that the likely scenario is that Oney heard something, wanted to be first to report it, reported it, then I got yelled at, so then he said it was speculation. Wait, you're Oney?

Bobby Jenks
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) Bobby, thanks for your time with the Sox. I wish you the best except for when you face us again. Jeff Bagwell never stood a chance against you in game 1. I love you Greg Really fathom, you had to go here first?

White Sox Sign Dunn
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 03:40 PM) Things are picking up folks. she covers the A's for SanFran Chronicle At this point, it's probably just a self-sustaining rumor. Oney read one of the earlier tweets saying Dunn had the interest of the Sox, posted that it was nearly finished, then this person posts based on that...etc.

Scientists find arsenic-based life
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 03:01 PM) Is this good or bad. I thought it sounded pretty cool, but not if demon sheep are involved. I don't know. There is no sense in which this is bad. Unless you're on the committee that the lead author applies to for funding, because your life just got a lot busier.

White Sox Sign Dunn
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 02:47 PM) For some reason the whole time I thought he is much older than he really is (27), he is linked with the BoSox also mentioned in the non-tender category. He just has a very long history already of playing a lot and then having a few personal issues, so it seems like he's been there forever.

Everyone should celebrate. A few years ago, the Feds shut down a san francisco based spammer, and suddenly 3/4 of my Spam emails vanished.

Konerko thread
QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) I guess I'm not educated on this enough. What "family" does he want to be by so badly for six to seven months a season? Don't his wife and kids live in Chicago where he's lived a long time? Doesn't he have an offseason home somewhere else? His full-year home is Arizona.
