  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2010 -> 02:51 PM) I don't know how you can state that it is just standard operating procedure. They have tons of drilling stations and I'm sure they have corporate policies regarding safety and standard that they have to comply with and in this instance my guess is they just ignored some of the issues or just never thought it was near as big of a deal. Its sad that it happened, but unfortunately no amount of controls will always prevent everything from happening. Based on their discussions in that episode, and, if I'm ever allowed to allude to stuff I've heard privately, it sounds like "not thinking things were a big deal" is a pretty darn common problem for a lot of oil companies, BP in particular. Every hole they drill costs so much money that every day they have to wait to make sure things are safe costs them tens of millions of dollars. Which is why active drilling safety regulations might be nice. Because, especially when you limit their liability to $75 million in the event of an accident, there are huge rewards for cutting corners.
  2. There you go, Nix for you guys.
  3. QUOTE (docsox24 @ May 18, 2010 -> 03:10 PM) nice work kid!! who goes the 8th, putz or pena? I think you have to try Putz there.
  4. Loading the bases before Cabrera...
  5. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 18, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) Freddy and Porcello seemed to pitch around it...gotta get some outs here. Porcello had a boatload of help.
  6. Does Santos normally pitch out of the stretch to start an inning?
  7. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 18, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) Jenks will pitch the 9th, so I'd use Putz in the 8th, Pena in the 7th and have Santos ready to go if needed in the 9th for Jenks. The good news is for us, the only lefties the Tigers have in their lineup right now are Boesch and Damon, and the 2 lefties on their bench are hitting around .200.
  8. QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 18, 2010 -> 02:49 PM) Did they go to the instant replay for the HR? Yes they did, and the ruling on the field was overturned by the Replayl.
  9. Anyone get a clear view on a replay?
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 18, 2010 -> 02:37 PM) Clearly BP didn't perform the necessary actions based upon the tests and data they have. That is just ignorance and no amount of controls, etc will prevent something like that, unfortunately. But you know what? It certainly sounded like standard operating procedure for them.
  11. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 18, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) We need to play add-on here. Don't just stop scoring guys. They decided to do the exact opposite
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 18, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) if there's a downside to Austin Jackson, I don't know what it is. His BABIP is incredibly high.
  13. 2 run double for Juan Pierre!
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2010 -> 01:59 PM) Cause I think he's going to slow down on what was a ridiculous home run pace? I think a lot of people were believing that he's completely healthy (which he isn't) this season and having a strong FA season. No, because you expect him to slow down from that ridiculous early season home run pace, but you don't expect any other GM's around baseball to expect that.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 18, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) You learn a new term every day on Soxtalk. You've never heard of the country Bolivia?
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 18, 2010 -> 01:53 PM) PK and Jones both have one homer each in the last 10 games or so. Not going to win many games with them fading off from their hot start. I really feel like now is the time to trade Konerko if you want to maximize his value. The league is going to catch up to him power wise by the early June likely. You guys really don't respect GM's around baseball do you?
  17. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 18, 2010 -> 01:48 PM) He's on this team to be a prime-time bat in the two hole...and to DH when needed. But not as a defensive replacement late in games.
  18. QUOTE (docsox24 @ May 18, 2010 -> 01:39 PM) he was their 25th ranked prospect to start the year. needless to say BA was wrong on that one! Chris Shelton says hi.
  19. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 18, 2010 -> 01:38 PM) With our offesne that might be enough I'd like to think we're getting to Porcello early, but after being bailed out by those 2 double plays, hes' got a good chance to get himself in a groove.
