Here's the new Republican champion, Scott Brown, reacting with a smile as a constituent yells "Shove a curling iron up her butt!". Ladies and Gentlement, your modern Republican party.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 12:23 PM) So boring. I actually thought Human Target was a lot more entertaining. 24 at this point is doing the balancing act of trying to keep things set up for all the people who have watched all the other 7 years. So sometimes there's a bit of character development/evolution that they didn't need to do in the first season or two. There was a lot of that last night. But Jack still slammed an axe into a guy. Human Target looked like it had some promise. But it also was kinda cheesy in how it did things; a lot of those classic hollywood near-superhero qualities (The invincible hacker who does everything instantly, the guy who always wins his fight, etc.). It could get stale pretty fast if there's not some decent writing.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 12:20 PM) Us naysayers realize that this is government money going into the Dow. So it's a forward looking indicator when it agrees with you and it's a crappy indicator when it disagrees with you. (Yes, I'm a naysayer as well. Just sayin')

I'm never going to find the old energy thread, but I'd wager serious money on G.S. being right here. The only thing that's going to make them wrong is oil prices spiking so much that it makes the world economy contract further and double-dip seriously.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 12:10 PM) Actually, no it isn't. I would wager the amount of pressure organized labor place would place on individual workers to sign cards of intent to be represented by a union pales in comparison to the intimidation that big business uses to prevent unions to organize in their place of business to begin with. But that's ok, because business is good and labor is evil.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 12:07 PM) Sure, those helped. But the whole card check idea is crap, and people know it. I think that the 0.1% of people who'd be hurt by it believe its crap, the 5% of this country who have tried to unionize and who have been screwed over by having all the laws against them would love it, probably about 5% of activists on each side either love it or hate it, and 84.9% of the country think it has something to do with new credit card laws if they've heard of it at all.
-
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 11:57 AM) Card check was exposed to the public for what it was, a blatent power grab and attempt to be able to use intimidation to increase union rolls, and it failed because many of the congresscritters couldn't stand the heat. Exposed? for what it was? And it wasn't simply that business has better lobbyists and is much, much, much better at buying off congress? Couldn't be that could it. We all know the Unions secretly run everything.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 12:15 AM) Carl's Jr kick butt The first time I ate at a Carls Jr. 6 years ago, I had a spectacular burger. Ever since then, every single burger I ate there has been simply disappointing. Either cold, not cooked well, not very tasty, etc. I sorta gave up on them after a few crap ones in a row.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) In a sense, I think a Coakley loss would be one of the best things for the Dems to experience as a party heading into November - because it would signify that even safe seats aren't safe if you don't work to keep them. Not in the least. You know as well as I do what the Dems reaction would be, it'd be to shun everyone who tries to stand for anything and go back to following the Republican line on everything. It's really kind of remarkable. The Republicans lose an election, and they lurch even more to the right (Palin, Limbaugh). The Dems look at losing an election, and suddenly they lurch even more to the right (why oh why did we try healthcare? aieee)

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 07:58 PM) I now want Jets-Saints SB. Immovable Object vs. Unstoppable Force. You think that Brees is more unstoppable than Manning?

QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 07:57 PM) Rose and Noah deserve considerable nomination. Rose I think is a must to get in, Noah on the otherhand has to much in front of him. When are the rosters finalized? Because for now, Rose still struggled for about 1/2 the season with injury. -
Colts Jets. Should be an interesting game.

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) Sorry if I mis-interpretted your words. Do you know by chance if the Charlotte pitching coach has good fundamentals or a track record of getting the most out of his pitchers. I would tend to not think so because they have had poor ERA over the past few years. Charlotte's always going to have a poor ERA because they play in an excellent hitter's park.
-
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 05:05 PM) The thing is Balta, Floyd did not have much MLB experience prior to that IIRC, but Cabrera has had 5 years to get it right. Time will tell and with only an MILB contract it is worth the gamble. Never said it wasn't. Just sayin'...he doesn't necessarily have to be on the big league squad to be working on the same sort of program that the big league pitchers might be on.

How has no one mentioned Redamak's yet? I have an urge to just close this thread out of anger.

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 03:37 PM) Wouldn´t he have better potential at long relief if he did well in Charlotte? Then I could see making a case for Coop working with but only if he is productive in AAA. Not sayin he is a bust already but pretty close. The things that are coached at the big league squad tend to move down throughout the system, whether deliberately or through ST and people moving up and down. Floyd, for example, worked most of his stuff out in AAA in 2007.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) Wow, did anyone notice the Cowboys on that last kickoff? It looks like all of their players besides the kick returner tried to take out the Vikings defensive players with cheap shots. Might explain why there were like 7 Vikings defenders by the returner and no other Cowboys players. Without seeing it, I'm not surprised. Nice to see Favre and the Vikings continuing to act like complete douches on that last drive/score. Gives me more reasons to cheer for the Saints next week. (Seriously, if the Colts were up 27-3 on a team with 1:53 on the clock, would they be going up top for a TD on 4th down?)

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) The Palehose guy? I thought he stopped? He's doing some of these comics through other places, I'd guess somehow he managed to sell some of them & that's why he moved to their page. They're still found @ Smellslikemascot on blogspot.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) Where are these comics made? In the wonderful mind of Carl Skanberg.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 17, 2010 -> 12:49 PM) Dont these players go through a ton of physicals? You'd think something like this would have been found by now. How often do they do complicated things like full-body MRI scans or EKG tests during a standard physical? If he'd never had any issues with losing consciousness or something like that, there's usually not a need to do that. There's also the possibility it could have been brought on recently through something he was taking.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Jan 16, 2010 -> 08:03 PM) this is why i read soxtalk.com learning It's actually quite remarkable how smoothly the slur changed from "Jewish Media" to "Liberal media".

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 16, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) Um hmm. Evil f***ers didn't know that they needed to be marxist, or nothing. Anti-slavery, women's suffrage, and not killing indians for fun = marxism. Thank God we have the Republican Party to protect us from those evils.

Now if the Colts take care of business, can we please stop hearing about how awful it was for these teams to slow down at the end?
