QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 09:05 PM) Aren't we the pessimist. SG/SF I can definitely see, but even if they let Tyrus go Noah looks like a reasonably safe bet and they just took Johnson (who minimally has nice upside) and Gibson, plus PF would likely be their top target in free agency if they went that route. I'm not saying I'd turn down a Derrick Favors, Ed Davis, Greg Monroe or John Henson, but they'll likely have to suck fairly hard/get lucky to get one of them. This team looks like it's had a disaster of a training camp. With Rose and the guys they do have, they'll be good enough to win 30+ games, but if Rose misses the first week and takes a while to get back to game shape, then we can pretty much write off the first month+ of the season since there's the circus trip. On top of that, right now Luol Deng looks terrible, and Salmons and Hinrich have been missing practices/games. Noah's had some really solid games in the preseason but has also been inconsistent. Maybe i overstated things a bit, but this training camp has really troubled me. -
Kinda looking forward to a day when I can get some sleep again.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 08:51 PM) Well, for one thing, he was benched for Dewayne Wise. I would have been a little pissed too, if I were him. Even still, the amount of s*** the guy gets goes waaaayy beyond his performance on the field last year. People generally hate this guy. Frankly, at the time, Wise was playing better than him.

Well, at least Rose is standing. That's something. -
Gotta give the halos credit, I figured they'd fold when the Yankees took the lead. Good fight.

Now that 2nd walk, that I disagree with.
-
I can't disagree with that walk.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 07:51 PM) I have a feeling this game is going to get tied up again somehow... Damon, Tex, and b**** t*** against Fuentes in the 9th.
-
Weaver out of the pen? Hope that means its his throwing day and he can still go in game 7.
-
Sorry Phillies...you get Captain Cheeseburger 3 times.
-
Who wants to wager that the Angels Bullpen doesn't hold up?
-
The $180 million man makes a game of it.
-
Rose is out for a couple weeks and isnt' 100% until the end of december. Bulls miss the playoffs after an awful start.

Artest signing is a disaster.

White Sox show interest in Aroldis Chapman...

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 05:48 PM) Something says giving this guy all that money, having him pitch in New York or Boston with all that pressure, isn't going to work out well. Then if he doesn't blow out his arm, pick him up for a has been and have them eat money. Jose Contreras Jr. Basically no matter who he signs with, he's going to be a rookie when he comes up and he's never going to have faced batters of the quality of MLB hitters. Even really good pitchers usually struggle their first year or two while they're developing; a guy coming from Cuba, that's going to be magnified, and even then, he'd have to pitch to the quality of a huge contract. Hell, look at the kind of performance the Red Sox got for their $20 million a year for Matsuzaka. -
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 05:29 PM) I think the Angels need to keep scoring runs but it looks good for them to get the series back to NY. Especially with a seemingly big strike zone being called tonight. Weaver's on tap for game 6 right?

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 05:36 PM) It's looking that way. If they're going to give him that kind of money...then in a couple years, we can trade for him after he busts because they're expecting the impossible from a rookie and turn his career around/turn him into a W.S. winning pitcher. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) The man wants 10+ mil a year. There's no way he's in the bullpen. If the man wants $10 million a year, then the Red Sox/Yankees will have an expensive rookie. -
Hell, I'm writing a thesis, i've barely listened to music the last few years.

Forget this, I'm lost

With Lackey on the mound, good chance that this series goes back to NY and Pettitte

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 12:26 PM) It's a very good draft, but it's heavy on PG's/combo guards and athletic big men. We definitely don't need the former and while a team could always use the latter we still have Tyrus, Noah, Gibson and a combo forward in Johnson up front. I'd be extremely happy if we got Evan Turner in the late lottery, though it'd be nice if he developed the 3-ball a bit to improve his fit with Rose. Devin Ebanks and Al-Farouq Aminu are other options, though both are more athlete than basketball player right now. Xavier Henry is probably a better fit for us than either of them, but he relies on his jumper a bit more than I like. I guess in summary there are a few guys, but it's a better draft for really s***ty teams that need high-upside big men. I sincerely doubt the Bulls will have Tyrus after this season. Cutting him lose is the only way to extend a max offer to Bosh or Wade. Problem with thinking about the draft now is...we're not going to know if we'll have a shot at either of those guys or at any of the lesser folks on the market (Amare, Dirk, etc.) Aside from PG, it's possible the Bulls could go in to the draft next year with major difficulties at 4 different positions, if Deng does poorly and the PF's or C's stagnate a bit. -
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 03:23 PM) Bears should have dealt Urlacher a couple years ago when they actually could have gotten something for him.... That would have been a great reaction to a run to the Super Bowl.

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 03:03 PM) mlb tr isn't that reliable... There's every reason to think the Sox would show some interest in the kid just because of the Cuban connection. But there's no way they bid more than Viciedo dollars. There just isn't.
