  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:51 PM) Swisher needs a vacation. It has been a month since he's had an off day. I'd like to say I can't believe how much ozzie is overusing some of these guys, but I had a feeling this was going to happen with a few key guys, that he just wouldn't get them the days off that they should be getting.
  2. At least Linebrink got some work in.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:41 PM) Everything is up in the zone. That's what happens when you go 10 days between outings from the bullpen.
  4. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:31 PM) Thome this year: vs right: .190/.347/.342/.689 in 79 AB vs. left: .265/.324/.618/.942 in 34 AB Who knew? The problem with those numbers is still sample size. Specifically...he's had 34 AB's against lefties...which means that the 2 bombs he hit on opening day off of captain cheeseburger are dominating the lefty numbers.
  5. My goodness, in Reyes's Gameday photo, it looks like his cheeks ate his eyes.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:26 PM) PH Anderson Honestly, I don't think you use up BA pinch hitting for your DH. Not with his defense. I'd consider sending up OC.
  7. Something tells me that we're going to see Alexei leading off a lot more now. Dah well, maybe if it puts OC on the bench a few more games...
  8. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:24 PM) Linebrink hasn't pitched in 4 days and only once since April 28th. To bring him in for Mauer and Morneau at all, let alone while rusty, would likely result in a loss today. I hope my feeling on what is going to happen is wrong. Mauer has thrown out over 50% of base stealers against him the last 2 years. Sure, Podsednik probably helped those numbers, but yea....
  9. QUOTE (Brian @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:23 PM) Ozzie giving the "subtle" steal sign. He's standing behind Alexei firing a gun into the air on each pitch isn't he?
  10. Ok, death is not an option. Your leadoff hitter...Timo Perez or Alexei Ramirez?
  11. QUOTE (Brian @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:19 PM) It seems like Juan has been hot lately or at least decent, but he is still batting .190. He's actually hitting .298 in May.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:19 PM) Rincon is only hitting 91-92 on his fastball according to MLB gamecast... looks like someone is missing the juice... Well, you do expect it to wear off eventually right?
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:15 PM) Great job by Dotel. Getting a run in the bottom of the 7th would go a far way to negate the 6th. Toby is Due.
  14. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) well, luckily he's proving me wrong by K'ing the leadoff guy, hopefully he continues I don't care if he's proving us wrong. It's not the performance I'm worried about, it's all the surgeries he keeps having. We invested $9 million in this guy over 2 years, he's just coming off a boatload of injuries, he ought to be treated as a 1 inning and no more reliever.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:09 PM) Dotel for a 2nd inning.... That is the definition of stupid.
  16. OK Nick...they're walking JD to load the bases for you. This ought to tell you something. Wake the f*** up!
  17. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ May 8, 2008 -> 01:01 PM) First stolen base since 2002 for Thome. Bloody hell...
  18. If that holds up, it's Jim Thome's first stolen base since 2002.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 8, 2008 -> 12:55 PM) No doubt. There is plenty of history to show that the Sox are doing this the right way. Its different for everyone else in the rotation, because they have all logged at least 180 innings in a season. Danks is no where close to that, and they don't want him having a second half breakdown, or worse yet, Mark Prior syndrome. Actually I don't think Floyd has ever gotten to 180. I think his top is about 170-175.
  20. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ May 8, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) A lead-off walk? This team seems to be showing signs of a pulse. This is supposed to be why you pay Thome and Konerko. Leadoff runner on, facing middle relief, division game, 1 run game, chance to really put another team away.
  21. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 8, 2008 -> 11:44 AM) Ozzie handles Danks, like Manuel handled Garland. Honestly though...you really do have to be careful with Danks. He's still just a barely 23 year old who's arm has never thrown more than 130 innings in a year. Rule of thumb says you shouldn't push him to more than 160 innings this year unless you want him to really risk injury next year, you typically don't want to add more innings than that to an arm in a year. He's got a shot at the win, we spent a lot of money on the bullpen, we're carrying 7 pitchers, and we're leading the league in innings out of our starters thanks to the other guys. Be careful with him at least for another year. Keep those innings down. Maybe even skip him a start or two as the season goes on.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 8, 2008 -> 12:25 PM) You know, we are due for a solo home run. This is called "Calling your shot" I believe.
