  1. QUOTE (jackie hayes @ May 6, 2008 -> 08:53 AM) Right, I saw that just after I posted this. Supposedly that report came from a Phoenix radio station. And the Bulls have said that a contract has not been offered yet. So a lot of uncertainty, but I still think it's interesting that the Bulls would be looking at D'Antoni. IMO, I'd bet the issue's going to wind up not being the Bulls paying D'Antoni the money, but it's going to be getting him out of his contract with Phoenix and what that team wants in exchange for letting him out.
  2. QUOTE (heirdog @ May 6, 2008 -> 09:45 AM) My predictions: 1) Crede traded...the "migraine" was a way to fly under the radar and Josh Fields called up to play 3B 2) Uribe released...Alexei Ramirez now full time 2B 3) Owens called up to play CF and bat lead off..Swisher moved down in the order and filling in for RF/LF/1B/CF as needed to play every day. New line-up: CF Owens SS Cabrera DH Thome 1B Konerko/ Swisher (Dye bats 4th and Swisher 5th when subbing for PK) RF Dye/Swisher LF Quentin/Swisher C AJP 3B Fields 2B Ramirez 4) And if Ozuna continues to struggle, then Bourgeios will be up in no time. The problem is...I think every one of those things you suggest is a possibility...and every single one of them winds up giving the a spot of someone on the current team to someone who is performing worse than the current person. Owens isn't lighting the world on fire down at AAA yet he knocks Anderson out of the rotation. Swisher isn't performing, yet he takes time away from Konerko/Dye/Thome, with BA the odd man out again. Fields isn't lighting the world on fire at AAA, but he replaces Crede. Ramirez has looked terrible yet he replaces Uribe. Ozuna has looked bad, but Bourgeois is hitting around .220 at AAA.
  3. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 5, 2008 -> 07:50 PM) Ramirez and Russell So, here's what I expect. Owens comes up, that's the last we see of Anderson except sitting on the bench, and people are suddenly surprised at the fact that Owens is taking at bats from Quentin and Swisher.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2008 -> 07:47 PM) It would only be fitting if Uribe was canned after getting 2 hits. Yup. Something tells me that Anderson and Uribe are finally going to get punished for performing this season and today. As they should be.

    RISP

But here's the other side of the token...that type of number will eventually always regress towards the mean. This year's team is hitting .282 overall with RISP. The league average is about .285. They simply will not hit sub.200 in that category for the rest of the year, no matter how much people seem to think they will. Last year, the Sox were the worst in baseball hitting with RISP and still hit .243.
  6. QUOTE (frankie5angels @ May 5, 2008 -> 07:43 PM) Ranger said he got a text from Toronto. It said changes are coming. Only thing he mentioned was Uribe Was it him speculating on the word Uribe, or is Uribe being punished for being the only guy in the lineup who got 2 hits today?
  7. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 5, 2008 -> 07:31 PM) Yep. For a couple games, to give them some breaks or for more favorable matchups (i.e. Thome sitting against Lefties more often) I'd agree. But you're never going to convince me that replacing Konerko and Thome with Anderson, Owens, and Fields in some combination is going to give us a more effective offense this year.
  8. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ May 5, 2008 -> 07:27 PM) Either one of these lineups is better than the one they've been trotting out for the past two years. So basically, replacing Thome and Konerko with Owens and Fields/Anderson is a big positive change and puts out a "Much better lineup than the one they've been trotting out"? (Getz/Uribe is more understandable).
  9. Typically it's very, very rare for a pitching coach to be promoted up to manager. The skill sets just seem to be different. Bud Black is the last guy to make that jump (Angels/Padres) and something tells me he won't be too long for that job, given that the White Sox are drastically outslugging the Padres right now.
  10. Another thing...I'd also like to see more rest given to a lot of people. Swisher and Cabrera and Thome come to mind immediately. Thome's had 1 day off this season, Cabrera's had zero. Dye's only really had off days when he's been hurt, Konerko's at least gotten an extra mental day or two.
  11. Whether or not it's his fault I care not...at this point, the only reasonable move, given that you can't just change 6 slots in the lineup, is a new coach.
  12. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ May 5, 2008 -> 05:47 PM) Why not PH Uribe there? We also missed the guy who can not travel. Ozuna needs to be released immediately. That was a straight fastball belt high down the middle. There has to be better players than him. His once neat ability is gone. You can't pinch hit a guy who's already in the game. The only PH option was Crede, and he was sitting the game for a Migrane.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2008 -> 05:46 PM) No, that was when we got a terrible performing player for one of the top pitchers available. Somehow I think if we'd traded for Furcal, he'd be hitting .150 and Cabrera'd be hitting .400.
  14. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 5, 2008 -> 05:43 PM) Who's even left on the bench? Hall and Anderson have both played this game. Crede, but he's got a migrane.
  15. QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ May 5, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) PH FOR PABLO PLEAESE!!!!!!!!!!!!! With who?
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2008 -> 05:19 PM) No kidding, 95 mph gas? Gameday is reading 97.
  17. QUOTE (Fotop @ May 5, 2008 -> 05:03 PM) I got in from work in the third inning. I have no idea what tonight's batting order is (like I have no sense of it at all)...is this some sort of getaway day crazy lineup? Aside from AJ taking a day off and Crede having a headache, they finally dropped Swisher out of the leadoff spot, that's the other noteworthy change.
  18. You can tell Ozzie's getting desperate when he actually pinch hits for his catcher.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2008 -> 05:42 PM) Dusty is leaving Cueto in way too long. He's at 100 pitches, and his velocity has dropped from 96 mph to 90 mph. No one ever could have predicted...
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2008 -> 05:17 PM) They've talked all season about resting Crede once every week. Between that and having no righty pop on the bench, the sooner roster moves are made, the better. They've talked about resting several guys, that doesn't mean they've done it. OC hasn't had a break all year.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ May 5, 2008 -> 05:16 PM) There's our first Cy McGowan mention. It really baffles me how Greg Walker can keep his job. Honestly, at this point...what harm could it do?
