  1. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 10:48 PM) Probably now would be the most ideal time to move him, since his value is at the highest it's really ever been (well earlier on in the season it was probably even higher). Still it's something KW probably wouldn't consider I would imagine. Honestly, I don't believe that's true. His value is still pretty low compared to the numbers he's put up, because he's a knuckleballer. If you had a guy who just turned 23 throwing 97 who had put up a 14-6 record, a 3.07 ERA in Charlotte, and was chewing up innings...you'd have one of the best prospects in baseball. But because he's a knuckleballer instead of a guy with a big fastball...teams don't always buy into his ability to get people out. You know what would really raise his trade value? Pitching in the big leagues and putting up non-terrible numbers...as he's doing right now to some extent. People can project how a 97 mph fastball translates to the big leagues. People can't project how a knuckleball translates to the big leagues until they've seen it.
  2. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 05:38 PM) Looking at the trend, he will pitch minus 8 pitches in the 5th. Please don't let yesterday's offensive explosion be an abberation. 8, 0, 12, 0 still comes out to an average of 5 runs a game!
  3. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 05:33 PM) It was 24 in the 1st inning. Yeah Yeah, i'm backwards
  4. 40 pitches through 2 for MB. 16 then 24. Cleveland working him hard.
  5. QUOTE(G&T @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 05:28 PM) Det up 3-0 That's the kinda play I like Mack making. Lazy fly. That's the kind of play I like Mack making. Fly to left field.
  6. QUOTE(G&T @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 05:19 PM) The top 3 of this lineup is awful.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) All of which should be in HD, along with a 'meh' college game on ESPN. Someday, I will care about such things as HDTV... Sigh...
  8. Marion Jones was cleared of doping allegations. Her "B" sample tested negative.
  9. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 03:27 PM) He had an .802 ops in charlotte of all places. Just watching him play ( and yes i have seen him in person in charlotte and online when games are available) he is not ready yet. A year or two from now is when he will likely have it all down. He needs to work on his power and better defensive reads/jumps. You have to rememeber there is not one area of his game that he extremely excels at ( average, gap power, obp, defense). He still has time before he will be a productive every day baseball player... even to the point of brian anderson. One key little element you're missing when you look at his season numbers...he's gotten better as the season went on. Which is exactly what you'd hope from a guy his age. OPS by Month, Ryan Sweeney: 0.741 0.773 0.766 0.857 0.852 HR by month: 1 1 3 3 5 2B by month: 3 0 5 7 10 (May he was on the DL for a couple weeks, so his at bats were a little low that month)
  10. Rightly, it should go to whichever player out of Dye and Morneau has the better September and leads his team to a playoff spot. Jeter's numbers are nice but they don't even deserve to be discussed with the other 2. If both teams make the playoffs somehow...whoever has the better September gets it.
  11. Tigers right now. Tigers sweep is my goal. We still have a chance to catch the Tigers, which would of course be nice, and this series will help...but key #1 is making the playoffs, and the best chance for us to make the playoffs with this few games remaining and as many games as there are between us and the Tigers in the standings is for us to pass the Twins by several games.
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 03:40 PM) Joe out with a bad back. Joe needed a day off anyway. Hopefully it won't be more than one.
  13. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 01:47 PM) Sox, sign him, stick his ass on the DL all season. I would buy a ticket to help pay for that.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 06:24 PM) His brother got released by the Tigers today. Ex-Sox players are having very strong years, as Frank, Valentin, Norton, and Durham have looked very strong this season. Don't forget all the bullpen guys...Howry, Grilli, Majewski, Rauch, El Duque, etc. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 06:26 PM) Wait, Dmitri Young got released? He was their #3 hitter last week. That's a little... strange. Well, his return did coincide with the start of their slide...clubhouse issues maybe? Maybe his court issues also?
  15. So...isnt' it about time to bring Anderson in and sit Dye down?
  16. QUOTE(SoxnGiants @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 06:13 PM) Might as well hit your 30th right here Joe. Save it. I'd rather use that in a close game.
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) 5 outs in 5 innings for the kid = More Mack and Pods I'll take more Mack, if it means less Pods.
  18. It would have been so nice to have just 2 of these runs over the last 2 games.
  19. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) I think he has a triple in him. In this ballpark, anything's possible.
  20. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 05:12 PM) I dunno, 1 run on Monday, 1 run yesterday...I'd say it's been here all along. All along = 3 games?
  21. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) I think I just saw a SB I have the feeling Dye will make more contact as soon as he hits number 40. I have a feeling Dye should have been allowed to sit today as well.
