  1. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) this isn't an issue the Republicans would want to use as a "wedge". far too many moderates and republican voters support stem cell research. I sort of meant it was a wedge issue for our side for once. The Republicans have plenty of them...the hating of the gays, all the other religious stuff, etc.
  2. THANK YOU JON!!! Finally someone acted like a pitcher. JG just gave us the key game to this series. We can't get swept, and we still have 1 of our "aces" coming up to pitch on Thursday. We get a good game out of Jittery Javy tomorrow, and then Detroit starts seeing Jose's forkball. And maybe just as importantly, the guys from Detroit have to hear another night of "Why can't you beat these guys, even when they're losing".
  3. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 04:54 PM) Only? Its quite a bit more than a lot of people. But it's fewer than the 14 that was said before.
  4. Come on Taz, time to improve on that .179 in June.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) Talking about Inge. He only has 12 errors.
  6. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) I guess, but he still does have a lot of errors. Are Y'all Talking about Crede? Cause ESPN says he has only 8 errors. The only 3b in baseball with 14 errors is Aaron Boone.
  7. 37 pitches, 5 groundouts for Garland through 3 innings.
  8. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 04:39 PM) He is crushing the ball lately. I really hope Kenny is not trying to find us a new center fielder. Kenny is hopefully not that stupid. By the way, aren't we overdue for someone else starting up a "trade for Rowand!" thread? It's been like 3 days without a new one.
  9. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 02:56 PM) I'm getting to "That man!" levels with Bush. Would an unrequested back massage help placate you?
  10. I would like to see exactly that lineup for all 3 games this series (barring injury).
  11. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) It is PROBABLY not enough. Thing is, some people will vote against a bill but still vote to override the veto, if their party bets big on it. Its happened before. They'd need 3 more. But more than likely, that wouldn't happen for 3+ senators, so Bush will likely use his first veto on this one, where it is highly likely to succeed (and is a pet issue for him personally). Wedge issue indeed. The House vote was 238 to 194. If I did the math right, something like 290 votes are needed to override the veto in that house. So it's almost certainly not going to be overridden with this Congress.
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) It's not blech, but these aren't exactly the '27 yankees. If medical science allows any of them to have 21-22 year careers...they could be!
  13. The Senate Passed the bill, 63-37. Not enough to override a veto. Finally! A Wedge issue! Whoopee!
  14. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) 3 runs over 6 innings against the yankees on the road is blech? If that's the best you can do after giving up 3 on bombs in the first inning while you warm up, then yes.
  15. QUOTE(Contreras @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) Yeah, that's relevent...OR NOT. How the hell does it matter? He has no control over it. That's like saying Javy is the best pitcher on our staff because the offense scores the most runs when he pitches. It worked for Black Jack in the early 90's.
  16. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 01:51 PM) Freddy pitched fine after the first inning. He says his arm feels great and it was the ball leaving his hand felt best it has all year. That's encouraging. Feeling fine and pitching fine = 3 more runs in 5 innings? Blech.
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 08:09 AM) http://americablog.blogspot.com/2006/07/bu...chancellor.html Here's your question...how would the media react if that were Bill Clinton instead of George W. Bush? Of course, one could also wonder how they'd react if Clinton had personally stepped in and ordered a stop to some random investigation of his actions, but of course, we can't forget 9/11.
  18. I don't know why the Tribe didn't try to deal Aaron Boone early in the season. Heck, they could probably still get something from San Diego for him.
  19. And yet, the 3 runs he gave up in the first still turned into 6.
  20. Toronto is closer to overtaking the Red Sox than the White Sox are to overtaking the Tigers.
  21. Clearly, the most glaring need on the south side is a new right fielder. Who do we have out there anyway? That scrub. Maybe he could play LF too. I'm sure we also want a leadoff hitter who's batting .267 and an OBP 30 points worse than Pods. Heck, just put him in CF, that Anderson guy's never going to come around. 7 home runs in 7 days, and 11 total on the season for Mench. That says it all to me right there.
  22. One thing I do miss is being in a city with an actual decent skyline.
