  1. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 11:27 PM) Agreed. One of their biggest talking points is this supposed "culture of corruption" that the Republicans are responsible for in Washington. I dont buy it really. Both parties have bad apples and I think they have done a good job of purging them from their ranks. Hopefully we can give you a hand with a few more who clearly need purging come November (Dennis "made $2 million on a land deal related to one of his earmarks Hastert, Jerry Lewis, Conrad Burns, Bob "Representative #1" Ney, John "I stopped at a rest stop and won $2000 gambling Boehner, and a few others I'm forgetting)
  2. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 11:25 PM) Supposedly they base this off apprehensions. So, in other words, you're telling me that there's been a drop in apprehensions along the border since the Guard showed up? Without further data, I'd say it's pretty hard to draw conclusions based solely on that. Maybe the Guard is just getting in the way, and leading to fewer apprehensions? Or, perhaps the presence of the Guard has forced the Coyotes into more remote areas where the Guard isn't @, and where they're finding higher degrees of success? I understand where the idea comes from here, but I have trouble accepting your explanation as the only one without further data. It could very well be right, I'm just unconvinced.
  3. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 11:23 PM) There is some arguments to why they would vote No. I don't agree with it, but it still is a valid concern. This is an unprecdented action by the Dem caucus, and if you start the precedent now, what happens when its time for a political grudge to get settled within the party? You hope that this is actually a Democracy, and if people start overstepping their bounds based on political grudges, they'll wind up losing elections. Had the Dems not done this, it would have cost them dearly.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 09:46 AM) Ah, what the heck. Way too many people are getting along here, so lets go ahead and lob a grenade into the lovefest. Congratulations on a great success!
  5. Just out of curiosity, how exactly are they able to come up with that number? I can't imagine that there's a booth where they stop and fill out a border crossing exit poll
  6. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 08:01 PM) http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/06/15/jef...ucus/index.html Its funny as hell to see the Congressional Black Caucus scream like stuck pigs over this issue. They dont give 2 s***s that this guy is dirty and is almost certainly going to go to prison, no. All they care about is that he's black and he's getting booted off his committee. Sad really, but I expect no less from this bunch. The good news, at least from my side of the aisle, is that over the last few days, it seemed like a couple of CBC members had finally given up on Jefferson. The bad news, from my side? The final vote was 99-58, with names withheld. The problem? There are only 43 members of the CBC. So in other words, at least 15 other people in the Democratic Caucus joined in.
  7. The way Pablo's been hitting lately is way ahead of the way Pods is hitting lately. To be fair, Pablo has been mostly facing lefties, which has helped him. Normally, you could get away with saying "But Pablo's a butcher in left", but right now Podsednik is in Adam Dunn territory in terms of making errors in left field, which is just terrible. At least for the time being, this situation is crying out for a platoon.
  8. QUOTE(minors @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 06:30 PM) That's what is wrong with this country today. Where is the pride, our military is out giving there lives for our freedom's and the people at home don't even care if the flag on which this country was built around is being burnt. I come from a military family and I just don't understand where the pride went. Maybe some of us care a little bit for what that flag represents.
  9. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) Mark pitching like a motherf***in ace tonight. Mark's on pace to be something like 8-1 in his career against the Rangers.
  10. Mark, thank you for showing our other pitchers HOW TO PITCH WITH A &$*$&$(@^&$(&$&^*%(@^%( LEAD!
  11. All right, I spend 10 minutes b****ing at Windows (Screw you Bill Gates) and the Sox take a 5 run lead. Smooth.
  12. Uribe and Anderson are our best hitters suddenly
  13. Interesting point... so if a Police Officer enters your house without knocking and Identifying, do you have the right to shoot first?
  14. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) the supreme court will overrule it anyway. Freedom of expression should not be criminalized. What's next? I can't call bush and cheney cocksuckers? The Supreme Court can't overrule a Constitutional Amendment.
  15. QUOTE(3RDBASE @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 04:09 PM) LOSE TRACY OR LOSE VAQUEZ...UMMM I WILL GO WITH LOSING TRACY Would it get Brandon into the rotation?
  16. QUOTE(Contreras @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:56 PM) #10 in the White Sox organization (which is usually ranked in the middle fo the pack)= #250 or so in the country = Nothing When you rank below Jerry Owens in 2006, you have issues. Sometimes, the position a prospect projects to can impact where they rank in those. A left fielder might be ranked higher than a middle relief pitcher, for example, even though you need both.
  17. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) This trade might come back to bite KW in the ass. Only because Javier Vazquez keeps giving up hits like candy.
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) Well, you're in luck because I happen to enjoy those commercials. Great! I'm the guy who made them! No, I'm not an ad executive, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. (Last thing I hear = multiple gunshots)
  19. So let's see, you've run into Scott Ian and Jermaine Dye in the past week. Are you a stalker?
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:19 PM) isnt there better help out there than Javier Lopez? There has to be. You know, I'm not really sure there is, not that could be had for Riske anyway. Think about this first...how many teams would currently consider selling something that could be used at the ML Level? I can count like 5 or 6. Now, how many of those teams have good bullpens? Now, how many of those have good bullpens with good lefties? Now, how many of them have good lefties they'd be willing to part with? There just aren't enough Loogy's to go around for most teams right now, and the Sox had roughly 3 lefties.
  21. QUOTE(Cknolls @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:04 PM) Did he avoid the grand jury 5TIMES????????????????????????????????????? Actually, I misread the original statement. Definition 1 of Elude should fit well with what Gergen was saying, as far as I can tell. He Eluded, evaded, escaped prosecution. All seem to fit to me.
  22. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 12:13 PM) http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/06/15/D8I8LJBG0.html Amongst the documents found while chasing Zarqawi includes one that basically says the Al Qaeda in Iraq should try to get the US to fight a war with Iran to open up a new front and take the pressure off of them, also they were trying to destroy relations between the US and Iraqi Shiites Translated Text of the document Since this group is a Sunni group, I think all of that would be expected from them. So does this mean that if we don't negotiate with Iran, the terrorists win?
  23. From Today's Sun Times quick hits I just thought that fit in well here.
  24. QUOTE(Cknolls @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 11:54 AM) Did Rove leave the country????????? David Gregory asserted: "Mr. Bush dodged several questions about Karl Rove eluding prosecution in the CIA leak case." A smart snob like Gregory should know the definition of elude. Dictionary: Elude Well, as far as I can tell, that is an accepted usage of the word "Elude". Not the most common one, but it's at least included by several dictionaries (not all).
