  1. No I didn’t expect them to, I would have expected them to lie, because they’re scum who think their fans are pathetic and owe them allegiance. If they were confident they were making the right decision, then having LaRummy address it up front is exactly what they should have done. But they lied, left that part out, because they wanted to make their ? look better during the press conference and were hoping either it wouldn’t come out or there would be less attention when it did, which is probably true. Frankly this is probably why they’ve been hiding him from the media for the last 2 weeks, because they were worried someone would have this. The last thing they wanted was for LaRummy to be asked why it’s ok for him to be belligerent with a cop while Tim Anderson could be shot for that, and LaRummy sincerely considers that to be something that shouldn’t be protested. They were, by definition, lying.
  2. Oh come on, the guy literally had charges filed against him the day before the press conference and they all said nothing of it. What is one to conclude other than they didn’t want to have to comment on it at the time, so they kept their mouths shut about it? That’s a lie of omission, they didn’t want to deal with it at their press conference so they hid it. They have a legal right to do so, but it tells you their motivation; they covered it up so that their press conference would look better. That’s a lie of omission, not releasing info you have to avoid hard questions about that info. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lie#Types_and_associated_terms
  3. They knew before hiring him per reports they haven’t refuted and said nothing, despite knowing it would come out and that there would be people asking about it. A lie of omission is a type of lie.
  4. How do his 2007 statements that it would “never happen again” look now? Does He have a purported problem with insincere statements?
  5. If LaRussa does it during the season and something bad happens?
  6. And LaRussa was at Glenn Beck's anti-Obama rally in front of the Lincoln Memorial on the 47th anniversary of Dr. King's I Have a Dream speech.
  7. Here's some official version: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30288007/chicago-white-sox-manager-tony-la-russa-charged-dui-stemming-february-arrest-court-docs-show So yeah, there's a decent chance there's video of LaRussa being a jerk to a Phoenix cop.
  8. Interestingly, just before LaRussa took over the Diamondbacks, they had a few DUI issues. Mark Grace was fired from being their TV color man for 2 DUIs. The DBacks also fired a mascot in 2009 for a DUI. http://www.sportsrubbish.com/2009/01/20/baseball/mlb/arizona-diamondbacks-fire-mascot-d-baxter-the-bobcat-after-dui-arrest/#.X6oTSWhKhPY https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/diamondbacks/2013/01/14/mark-grace-comments-on-diamondbacks-firing-following-dui/1835079/ overthemonster.com/2014/3/19/5524840/mlb-dui-arrests-jon-denney
  9. I joked in the other thread that JR just wanted his drinking buddies in the org with him and now I feel bad about it probably being true.
  10. Just was thinking, I was actually in Phoenix a year ago, going between the airport, hotel, and conference center, several times not sober. From personal experience, there's a ton of public transportation in that area. It's not that hard to find, even late. I also found a Lou Malnati's on the train route.
  11. "Undermined by Jerry in order to hire a douchebag with a drinking problem". It's like the icing on the cake. With a chance of seriously injuring someone midseason.
  12. Oh, ok, so you weren't near the person who tested positive. That probably means there's a good chance they weren't contagious, that's good news. That said, you should be under a 7 day quarantine if we were handling this well. No offense.
  13. Literally days apart too. Both the most recent interview and the DUI were in February.
  14. Can I ask where you saw that? I haven't read every article and now am curious which one to read.
  15. Other point: He's been caught twice. How many times has he been out without having hit a curb or fallen asleep?
  16. Tony LaRussa can go work a minimum wage job to rebuild his resume for a few years.
  17. THEN F***ING RESIGN. THEY SHOULD HAVE ALREADY. THIS ISN'T A HARD DECISION ANY MORE. HE COULD LITERALLY HAVE KILLED SOMEONE.
  18. Rick Hahn had a guy who just had charges filed in his second DUI the day before hired over his objections and it wasn't enough for him to stand up and resign. Someone should smack him if he's smiling today.
  19. Why on Earth are other people in the front office ok with this? Do they want literal blood on their hands if he does it again midseason?
  20. How the F*** have Hahn and Williams not resigned? Staying on and being ok with this, because the money is more important to you? Is that all you care about? Does he need to kill someone in the season?
