  1. Are you watching the game dude? If not, you shouldn't make comments like that because you are VERY wrong. Damon was standing at 2B for the entire play, and there was NO WAY he was going to get Nomar anyway. The ball was DEEP in the hole, and Jose did a GREAT job of getting to it and holding Damon at 2B. If that ball gets through, it would have been 1st and 3rd with 1 out.
  2. Uh, he was safe at home, so I don't know why you're trying to sarcastically rip him.
  3. I dunno. I remember a game back in 1996 (I think) at Fenway when Frank hit 3 HR off of Wakefield, and on his 4th AB he intentionally walked him and the Fenway crowd was booing. Other than that, I don't recall Frank having much success against knuckle-ballers. If you think about it, there have been pretty much just 2 since Frank's been in the majors. They are Steve Sparks and Tim Wakefield. I'm sure there have been others, but I can't think of any right now. FYI, take away those 3 consecutive HR's against Wakefield back in '96, and he's just 4 for 28 with 0 HR against Tim.
  4. Olivo doubled to left, and on the play at the plate, Jose appeared to beat the tag, but he was called out.
  5. It's still fun to see history.

    Hey clu!

    Hmmmm....cool.
  7. We sure look horrible at the plate. I sure hope Esteban can give us a gem, because it looks like we'll need it.
  8. There goes the no-no. A 1-out single in the 8th ends it. Funny thing is that the Yankees also only have 1 hit, so it's a 0-0 game.
  9. The game just started. It was delayed about 40 minutes due to rain. ChiSox go 1-2-3, and at the end of 1, there's no score.
  10. The Rocket has a no-hitter through 7 innings at the Stadium.
  11. Or does he have a STRIKING resemblance to Pee Wee Herman?
  12. Bingo. It's much easier to get rid of 1 coach (or even a whole coaching staff in some cases) than it is to get rid of a full 25-man roster. Coaches get too much praise when things are going well, and too much blame when they are going poorly. Coaches = the #1 scapegoat in sports. Where's the players' accountability?
  13. If we are facing a righty tomorrow (and I think we are, as I think it's going to be Wakefield), I think the lineup might actually be the same. Willie is actually not doing too bad, so I think he'll be back at the lead-off spot. The only other real question mark is at catcher, and I think Olivo will get the nod again.
  14. These forced, profanity-laden posts got old like a month ago. Try expressing your anger in a more mature way, please.
  15. What's that I hear? Oh yes, it's the sweet melodic sound of the voice of reason.
  16. I think that's a big part of it. It's hard for a group of players to get on a roll when they 1) don't know for sure if they're gonna be playing and 2) don't know where they'll be hitting in the lineup. They're grown men, but at the same time they need a sense of consistency in order to feel fully comfortable, and that consistency has been severely lacking.
  17. That sounds like a threat to me. Anyway, he's right about 1 thing -- KW is still GM. Is it "any moment" yet?
  18. I wouldn't say Gordon has stunk. His ERA is under 4.00. Not great, but he certainly doesn't belong in the same category as Konerko, White, or Glover IMO.
  19. Fundamentals seem to be taught solely in the minor leagues. Then, when the prospects get to the majors, it's pretty much up to the players to take charge and either improve upon them, or let them fall by the wayside. There are managers that preach the fundamentals, but they are few-and-far-between it would seem. Take, for example, the Sox today in the FIRST inning. We led off with 4 doubles. Great! But, with a runner at 2nd and 0 outs and Carlos Lee at the plate, why are we not bunting? I mean, I realize it's just the first inning and it's not normally the time to bunt, with the way our offense has been, we HAVE to take advantage of any and all scoring opportunities. But, Carlos swings away, and we go 6 innings without a hit after that, and it effectively lost the game for us. Same song and dance today. I hope it's a momentary lapse in judgement, and not the beginning of another long dry-spell.
  20. I'd say he's problem #1 for the Sox in '03. You could argue that MB has been, but if you look at it, our biggest problem has been scoring runs. Our team pitching has actually been somewhat decent overall.
  21. *Sigh* What started off so good... We need to come back tomorrow and win is all I know. If we split or lose this series, it will kill any kind of momentum we've gained in the past couple of weeks. Wins tomorrow and Thursday are vital IMO. Sox drop it 7-4, and the series is 1-1. MINN looks like they're going to lose, so we'll stay 6.5 out, but we'll lose a game to KC, as they are going to beat MINN.
