  1. maybe - he is very unhappy right now Hmmm...can't say that I blame him, but I don't think that play should be the cause of his upset. The ball was hit by Bill Mueller -- not the fastest guy in the world, but the ball got by Carlos and went all the way to the wall. The only thing I can think of is that maybe the guys were in position for a relay to the plate in case the runner (Trot Nixon) tried to score from 1st. But like I said, once the ball got to the wall, there was no way they had a chance at getting Mueller at 2B.
  2. Is Ed going senile? The ball went to the wall in LF, and there was NO chance of getting him at 2nd. I don't know what he's talking about. Well, 2 runs for Boston, and we're pretty much buried. 7-4, going to the bottom of the 9th.
  3. Oh boy. Damaso's got a battle ahead of him. First 2 guys on. Runners on 2nd and 3rd, 0 outs. Holding them to 0 is essential IMO.
  4. There is no point in arguing with you. You won't change your opinion even if there is proof in front of your face that you are wrong, so I will not waste my time. Bottom line -- the Sox have had 2 or 3 hitting coaches since 2000, and our offense is still scuffling. Guess we just don't know how to hire coaches eh?
  5. God dammit, when Carlos hit that I thought it had a chance. Wasn't even close though. End 8, we've cut it to 1 run.
  6. Does this in any way resemble the "solution-problem" dichotomy?
  7. Nice. Way to make your point change the subject... Frank went back to the dugout, got his glove, and then HAD to say something to the umpire. Being as that he has been the best hitter on this team over the last 3 weeks, plus having been in the league for how long, he should know by now that you can't show up and ump the then argue with him after the fact. What does that have to do with Konerko? I think Frank did it the best way he possibly could. He did his best to not show up the umpire at the time. Umpires know that every game is on TV, and they have egos -- they don't want to look like they're being pushed around in front of the world, so they are less tolerant than they are between innings. Obviously there's no way of knowing what Frank said, but it IS possible that the ump just has a bug up his ass when it comes to the Sox, so maybe he wasn't going to take ANY jaw-jacking. It didn't appear that Frank was trying to show him up, but who knows. YEAH, Daubach goes yard! 5-4 game.
  8. How many hitting coaches will we have to go through before you realize that the hitting coach ISN'T the cause of our hitting woes? Have you looked at Lee-Ordonez-Konerko-Daubach-Rios-Crede career numbers? Notice anything that isn't like the other in terms of OPS production? What does that have to do with how they are performing now? Are you suggesting that because they have a new hitting coach, that they are CHANGING whatever it was that was making them have greater success in the past? If you are saying that, you are retarded.
  9. WOW, close play on a chopper hit by Willie Harris, but the ump was correct in calling him out. Doesn't get much closer than that, though.
  10. How many hitting coaches will we have to go through before you realize that the hitting coach ISN'T the cause of our hitting woes?
  11. Since when does 1 poor season make a person "suck"? Does that mean Frank sucks? Afterall, his 1998, 1999, and 2002 seasons weren't exactly HOF years. Having a horrible season and "sucking" are NOT the same thing, but if you don't see that, there's nothing I can say to make you.
  12. He was called out on strikes in the 6th. Between innings, he was walking from the dugout to 1B, and he started talking to the umpire. The ump warned him, Frank continued, and he got ejected.
  13. 4-3 groundout, "threat" over. End 7, Sox trail it 5-3.
  14. A walk to Crede, and Burkett is gone. Mike Timlin coming in, bottom 7, Boston up 5-3, runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs for the Good Guys. I believe Rios is coming up to pinch-hit for Olivo, but we'll have to wait and see for sure.
  15. OPEN YOUR f***ING EYES AND READ WHAT I ACTUALLY SAY, NOT WHAT YOU WANT ME TO SAY. I said "Having a horrible year". NO mention of ANYBODY "sucking". Are you trying to be this annoying, or is you this stupid naturally?
  16. LOL, if there was, Frank would win the award for stupidest athlete ever. Not for corking the bat, but for INTENTIONALLY breaking the bat, thus exposing the wine bottle top.
  17. did Frank get tossed after you posted that, a delayed throw out? Why is Daubach in now? Frank was on his way out to 1B after the 6th inning, and he started jawing with the ump. The ump pointed in his direction and presumably warned him, but that didn't stop Frank, .
  18. Hey Cluj, what's going with our offense? They started hot and right now is on a deep cold. A combo of us hitting poorly and Burkett pitching pretty well. He's throwing some kind of cutter or something that's got Sox hitters off balance, and he's making it look REALLY easy. Hopefully we can get him out of there and like someone mentioned, get to their bullpen like we did last night.
  19. I don't recall the location of the first one, but that last pitch looked inside. When the catcher caught it, it looked good, but since it was a cutter, I doubt it crossed a strike. Well, Frank got ejected on his way out to 1st base, LOL.
  20. Frank's lucky he wasn't ejected there. For those without TV access, he struck out on a questionable called 3rd strike, and as he was turning to go to the dugout he smashed his bat on the ground and shattered it. End 6, Boston up 5-3. Burkett is making us look like children.
  21. Did it EVER occur to you that maybe you should give credit to the other team? Bonds is great, and Colon just seemed to run out of gas and by the time we got him out of there, the bases were loaded and 1 pitch by Marte and that was it. Did you even see the game? Colon was CRUISING. Why take him out? He was on a roll, his pitch count was low, and Colon is notorious for getting stronger as the game goes on. That game, it just didn't work out. Blame Manuel all you want, but I think you are dead wrong.
  22. He's saved our bullpen a few times this season. You need to look at the big picture dude. Just because we lose a CG that Bartolo has, that doesn't mean it's a lost cause. If he can save the bullpen a couple of innings every now and then (which he undoubtedly has), that will keep our 'pen stronger for the later weeks of the season. I do, however, agree with you on Jose. I like the guy and think he's a fine guy to have, but I KNOW the Sox can do better than him.
  23. If you have an ERA over 5.00, you are having a horrible year regardless of where you play your home games.
