I wasn't alive for some of the big ones from the mid-80's and prior, but yeah... this is definitely the most hype I've ever seen for any Chicago sporting event.

The super bowl comes two weeks early in the midwest. What a game were in store for.

Jake Peavy just shows Williams' determination in getting a player he wants. Maybe the deal is good, maybe its bad... but not many GM's are capable of completely missing out on a guy then turning around and picking them up months later. It gets even harder with big name players, yet KW has pulled it off twice in the last two seasons with Dunn and Peavy.

There would be bye weeks. Obviously the NFL has chosen not pursue this direction in crowning a winner.

This game is this week's "title belt" matchup. This means that if after the 1st Super Bowl victory by the Packers they were awarded a hypothetical title belt they would have to defend it during each regular season and playoff game. The first team that beat them got the belt, and the first team that beat the new belt holder got the belt, so on and so on. Basically if football worked like boxing this would be a championship game. Just a fun anecdote.

I'm pretty sure KW isn't going to let the bullpen stay the way it is. Maybe a GM who is more shy, but not Kenny. Resigning Konerko is better news than signing Dunn to me.

Maybe, but at least there will be a debate. Until then Lovie is fighting for his job. Funny how that works.

Championships.

Theyre busy with issues that are pressing now (Konerko, trades, etc.). I'm guessing Alexei's extension has put on the backburner until these things have resolved themselves.

Dayan is cheap. We are gonna to try and shed salary in any trades. I doubt he goes anywhere except maybe as an extra piece.

Defense absolutely dominated the 2nd half.

I actually worked on a promotional tour of This Old Cub through a few midwestern minor league stadiums when I was in high school. Ron Santo was there and I did talk to him every once and a while. I told him I was a White Sox fan and after congratulating the team for winning the WS he kind of teased me for working on the tour for the movie. He was a really nice guy, positive to a fault but you couldn't help but admire him for it. Sad news this morning man.

Thats probably not what it will end up being though. Lot can change between 12/2 and 1/2.

Only on ST do people look at an 8-3 Bears team (especially with those expectations coming into the season) and think ridiculous things like "If we had Philip Rivers we'd be 10-1." What is even the point in that? Calm down. Enjoy winning. Stop b****ing.

Israel/parts of Europe =/ Berlin, Paris and London. I'm not saying that's even a substantial threat, but we should've told them that before we chose to not build those ABM sites.

Started out the season trying way too hard to save his job. Dumb 4th down calls, blown clock management, it wasn't pretty. He obviously still has that sense of urgency but now hes starting calm down a little bit... wish he could've coached like this every season.

Its pretty clear that Iran has the ability to hit Western Europe, which is what that shield was meant to stop. A lot of people thought it was to counter Russia which obviously now wasn't its main purpose. Instead now that same shield has been moved to Middle East to protect those countries who are a lot more worried about Iran than anybody thought. Not many people knew Iran had that kind of capability.

There's a lot in there that you wouldn't expect. Puts a whole new light on the missile bases not being built in Poland and the Czech Repbulic.

Probably, but we have the talent to force him into turnovers. He hasn't had to deal with that at all this season.

I'm ready to watch us against Vick. f*** the hype, this defense is playing as well as they did in 06.

Or he can line up as a wingback and do things like that. That works. I dont mind.
