6/17 Game Thread: PIT @ CWS, 7:11pm CT
QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 07:41 PM) I see we've been acquainted with an old friend this evening, Habe Bawskez -- the Middle Eastern Gas Station attendant. Good at accounting and inventory, bad at pitching.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 07:38 PM) Quentin has a very unlevel swing now. It's why he's hitting so many pop ups when he puts the ball in play. Greg Walker fixed him.

I don't want to hear any more talk about Vazquez being our best pitcher.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 07:26 PM) PK is 3-24 with RISP and 2 outs. So pretty much just as bad.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 07:22 PM) 2 for 30 with RISP and 2 outs....'nuff said Where all these clutch Konerko hits, though? At least Thome has hit at some point during a game.

I like giving Wise some ABs. Probably in the minority on that one since I know people love Anderson, but I think we can maybe catch some lightning in a bottle with Wise.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 07:19 PM) I think it's funny when people put him in a group with Thome and Konerko among players that are hurting the Sox. While Thome is disappointing, I don't think he should be in the same tier with Paulie either. They've both been bad, but Konerko has been horrendous. At least Thome has hit a few bombs.

Please be clutch Crede. That grounder to the right side you hit last time wouldn't be a bad thing here.

That is one run more than I thought we'd score the rest of the way so color me pleasantly surprised.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 07:07 PM) Thome is 2-30 with RISP and 2 outs this season. That probably puts him middle of the pack on our team.

I like how someone mentioned earlier that their bottom 5 was pretty terrible. And then they go 4-4 with 3 RBI that inning. Sigh.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 06:51 PM) At least we're still in this game. We are? 5+ runs is an awful lot to ask of this team.

Who would you add to the 25 man roster
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 04:33 PM) Trade for Brian Roberts, and move Ramirez to CF. What happens when Konerko comes back? I think Lofton makes more sense seeing as he's going to be much cheaper.

Konerko injures rib cage, may hit DL
QUOTE (29andPoplar @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 08:01 AM) Here is what I'm struggling with. Sox fans are frustrated with the all-or-nothing type offense, understandably so. All these strikeouts, big swings, and lack of contact hitting. So the proposed solution? Bring up guys like Brad Eldred and Josh Fields, both of whom are striking out a ton in Triple A. That's not a solution, that's a let's throw something at the wall and see if it sticks. Fields is down to .251 now and Eldred isn't much higher. Striking out once every three times in AAA doesn't scream solution to me. They need to bring someone in from the outside. Someone like Konerko doesn't really have an all-or-nothing approach, though. He has a nothing approach. He's hitting for a low average with little power. If he were hitting around .280 with his usual power numbers his all-or-nothing approach wouldn't be so terrible. Fields certainly isn't an ideal hitter for this lineup but he could at least provide us some respectable production. I'd take that over the other in-house options like Owens, BA, and the injured and/or washed up Konerko.

Konerko injures rib cage, may hit DL
QUOTE (quickman @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 06:52 AM) Yesterday you wanted to call up fields to play first base. No? Yes, I would still like that. But if you're talking about bringing in another outfielder then I'd rather have Lofton over Owens or Brian Anderson.

Really would be a good time to sign Kenny Lofton.

6/14/08 Rox v. Sox
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) Not to excuse our s***y offense but Colorado has just been unlucky this year, and when they get the bad breaks to swing back to normal they will be in the NL playoff picture. Pass that my way...

QUOTE (Capn12 @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) Am I wrong to really NOT want Thome up in this situation? =( There's only like one or two Sox hitters you could want up in this situation.
