  1. Let's hope Minny loses and we can pick up a game.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) Jenks in for a 4 run game. Has it been that long since he's been used? At least 4 days.
  3. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 09:29 PM) The same friends Bynres,Hafner, and Victor lost... hopefully Swisher was never friends with their friends
  4. Please tell me Ramirez will be better than Pedro Feliz with speed. He's got me too excited right now...
  5. You guys realize Crede is hitting .103 against lefties this season? That's a crazy stat.
  6. I wonder what KW will say if Thome and Konerko still aren't hitting by the end of this month.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) I'm happy with the homer, but I'm even happier with how far Swisher's homer went. Oh Alexei, you stud! Yes! That wasn't a cheapie at all.
  8. I know he had that monster HR in Tampa, but it just seems like Konerko doesn't hit the ball with any authority. I don't know if that's a timing issue or if it's a hand issue.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 07:58 PM) I feel like I'm hearing this more any time this season than I did any of the past few years with the noteable exception of games Mack was in CF. Sad part is you go from position to position, it's probably as good as we've been in a long time. Swisher in CF is the exception but I can only point to one or two instances where he hasn't made a play.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 07:53 PM) It took a bad hop on the lip of the grass. Gavin's doing his best to let KC back into this game. His fastball is in the mid 80s so far. He's given up one solid hit. What are you talking about?
  11. Well, people said Gavin was due for some bad luck. And he's certainly been hurt by some garbage hits last 2 games.
  12. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 07:40 PM) With the .200 mark being reach, what will Swisher's next goal be? .190 batting average here we come. The guy is an automatic out. It's ok. He's hitting fly balls to the warning track.
  13. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 09:39 PM) Because when players preform at their absolute lowest level, thats the time to deal them. Aside from Quentin, all things considered, Swisher might be the last player on the team I would want to deal right now. Beyond idiotic. Well, what you think of Swisher probably depends on what you think of his previous "training regimen." There's a chance he might not be the same player again in which case his value is only going down. It's sad to have these sort of doubts about players but those are the consequences of steroid era baseball and a player showing very little power through 2 months of the season.
  14. I don't really understand the following: Perhaps I am wrong, but it seems pretty simple to me. The fly balls that were once homers are now warning track fly out. While he has "not lost his power entirely" it looks as if his HR power has diminished to warning track power. But as I've said, it's possible I'm looking at this wrong.
  15. Grudz made and All-Star team; maybe even a couple.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 06:41 PM) At one time one of our best prospects, now he goes to s***. Joy! I don't know if Richar will ever be anything as a major leaguer, but I am pretty certain he will rake in AAA if you give him enough time.
  17. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) No, instead, Ozzie put Williams in a corner, basically telling him to go make a major trade on June 1st. What Ozzie said may or may not have been true, but it put his boss in a position he shouldn't have to be in. Well, as I've said, Williams could have quickly stepped out of that corner by saying "we're working on it" or talking about how hard it is to complete deals in early June 1st. Instead, he chose to play testosterone fueled GM (like he usually does).
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 01:52 PM) I really don't think Ozzie meant to throw Kenny under the bus. I think Kenny and Ozzie have had multiple conversations regarding whether Ozzie thinks Kenny needs to go out and get something else for the offense, and Ozzie has consistently said "no, we have the right guys." This was Ozzie's way of saying, "maybe I was wrong, maybe I do need Kenny to go out and get something for me." He was trying to motivate his players, not piss Kenny off. Unfortunately, he didn't think before he said it. And we all know Kenny is a fiery guy himself. Yeah, Ozzie was critical of his players, not Kenny. I don't know how it got spun around like that.
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 01:51 PM) I'm sure he would love to improve it if it were possible and practical, however, that isn't always the case. I understand that. Still doesn't excuse his stupid comments. How about "we're working on it" or "yeah, these guys have to step it up." Instead, he's preaching patience and saying everything is fine. It's like we're running club med for the pull-happy retards. His manager went out of his way to criticise their pathetic effort. So if you're the players what's there to worry about? Why even bother to hear what Ozzie has to say? There's no consequences. It's totally undercutting your manager.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) I don't think any changes will occur, except perhaps line-up changes by Ozzie. KW making a trade or firing a coach will make him look like Ozzie's lackey. Not doing anything will make him look like Ozzie's boss, something he made perfectly clear he was in his comments about Ozzie's comments. And isn't that what really counts? I mean why bother improving your sucky lineup when it's clearly more important to your fans that you show your manager who's boss. Not that I'd expect Kenny to do something now, but Kenny's comments were beyond ridiculous. How about having your manager's back?
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 12:32 AM) Serious question: what was our record against winning teams in the regular season of 05? Honestly, with this club, lets just some how get into the playoffs and I really think we'd make some noise. I hear what you're saying and I wasn't really trying to make any point, just throwing out a stat. 06 Cardinals showed it really doesn't matter what the records are, it's how you do in the postseason.
  22. We're 10-17 against teams with winning records.
  23. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 04:19 PM) Which "duds" are those? I'd much rather have Cabrera than Uribe at SS. And I'll bet that A's fans would love to send DLS back. I would think that obtaining Quentin for a prospect would help make up for Swisher's early struggles at the plate, but perhaps I'm giving Soxtalk too much credit. Kenny had an overwhelmingly good offseason this past Winter/Spring. Agreed that their roster is getting old, but some of those geriatric players are having pretty decent seasons (AJ, Dye, Crede) and nobody could've predicted an injury to PK. Outside of Thome's decline, it's pretty silly to pin that on the GM. Kenny wasted his best bargaining chips (Garland and our 3 top prospects) on two players who have sucked. He got Quentin and fixed the bullpen (by paying a steep price) which were great moves. I don't think that constitutes an overall great offseason. Just because our prospects have sucked for Oakland doesn't make the Swisher acquisition any better. If you pay someone a $100 for a s***ty product (although one which you thought was good at the time of purchase), does knowing that the person later lost that $100 make you more at ease about blowing the money in the first place? I don't think it would.
