  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) Let's put it this way...if the 2nd part of those wasn't true...if Ozzie hadn't won that ring last year...games like last night are the kind of games that would have cost him his job, just as stupid decisions by Jerry Manuel cost him his job. Agreed. Also keep in mind that Ozzie has made this same mistake A LOT this year. If it weren't for the stellar offensive output we received earlier this year in June we would be in real deep s*** now....
  2. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 8, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) something ive been curious about... who originally started soxtalk? i think it would be really cool to have a link on the frontpage with the "History of Soxtalk" with some screen captures. statistics of the board over the years, as well as a narrative about how it started and where it has gone since then... Jason started it if I'm not mistaken. (ChiSoxfn)
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:57 PM) Tomorrow will be a tough game for the Sox. Wang has his sinker going now, and it's going to be difficult for us to hit a lot of homers. We're not going to win if we have to get 3 hits in an inning to score a single run. No we will win tomorrow. I will be at the game, if we don't s*** is gonna fly.
  4. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) Game 1 of crucial homestand is a loss. If anyone has superfan thoughts lingering of the Whtie Sox entering a streak while Detroit simultaneously slumps needs to wake up. This divisional race is complete. Concern yourselves with the wild-card. Even that may soon be over is this rotation can't string together quality starts. You're right, and I'm tired of people labeling this mentality as pessimistic. We just have to tip our hats to Detroit, they've played great ball all year long. We need to focus on winning games and getting that wildcard spot. I still think even with our pitching problems that we're a better team than Boston and Minnesota. This team overcame adversity last year when everyone automatically declared us out of the playoffs when we were only 2.5 games up.... I'm done stressing over this s***, it's not worth it and I'm just going to enjoy watching the race the next two months.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:53 PM) Good...I honestly want this team to have this challenged. If they can't start beating good teams, then they might as well start planning their golf trips this offseason. They should be looking for revenge. The Yankees embarassed us in New York. It's payback tomorrow.
  6. QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:36 PM) until he learns that, we will never see a World Series in chicago. Last year he had 5 starters that could go deep into games, 4 studs. This year they just don't have it. It's his job to get them out before they implode. He just hasn't done a good job of that. We are 0-1 on this 11 game homestand. We have to show up the next two series, or it could be season over...
  7. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) The Sox were outmanaged tonight. Ozzie has to give his team the best chance to win the game. Its time to quit screwing around, and watch what is going on. The starters are getting lit up, bring in the bullpen. He's done that the whole year. I throw a hissy fit in the later innings everytime he goes out to the mound and doesnt take out our starter. We've seen it way too often this year.
  8. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:47 PM) GET A BASEHIT DAMMIT! or strike out...down to our last out.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) Nothing was worse than Pudge's reaction over the weekend. He seriously celebrated more than Kirk Gibson did. As Kenny Mayne used to say on Sportscenter. "Tell him what he's won!!....A single baseball game out of 162." Haha I always laughed at that.
  10. QUOTE(Felix @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:40 PM) That is an incredibly difficult catch to make, no chance in hell Pods' could catch it. I'm referring to his "prancing" after the ball hit off the wall.
  11. We have scored runs off K-Rod before....but we're going to have to get some "Kitty luck" in order to come back and win this one.
  12. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) Was that Pods that dropped it in the first row? No, probably just looks like him. I bet he can hit better than Pods though. Here comes Shields.....not good.
  13. jesus christ.....why didnt someone tell me eric cooper was behind homeplate? This guy is one of the worst umpires in the league...
  14. I'm feeling a slam by the Rally Crede this inning..... everyone hits starting with Thome.
  15. QUOTE(Wedge @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:13 PM) ROCK AND ROLLER COLA WARS i CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE! WE DIDNT START THE FIRE!
  16. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) Ozzie left him in way, way too long. Possibly the most obvious instance in which Ozzie should have pulled a starter before he blew up, and didn't. Typical. What did I expect. Oh well, hopefully we can find some way to pull this out of our ass.
  17. QUOTE(Harry&JimmyRocked @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 08:15 PM) Buehrle sucks this year. stop making excuses for him. and if he's hurt his ass should be on the DL and bmac starting. like i said a couple weeks ago. this team is done. accept it. it's like watching a car wreck. So even if we lose tonight, we're tied for the wild card lead, with say about 50+ games to go.....so how did we all of a sudden get eliminated?
  18. I just got off work.....how long did Buehrle go? Someone please tell me that Ozzie pulled him before he imploded....then again I wouldn't be surprised if he kept him in too long....
  19. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) Well, they did a pretty piss-poor job of playing spoiler against Detroit this weekend. That said, they'll probably take 5 of 7 from the Sox. And we'll make Fausto Carmona look like Eric Gagne back a couple years ago..... These last two months are going to be real interesting.....
