2012 Minor League Catch All thread
I was looking at an old writeup regarding the 2010 Draft Class. Would we call this a success? Or is there more to come? To recap: 1) Chris Sale, LHP, Florida Gulf Coast University 2) Jacob Petricka, RHP, Indiana State University 3) Addison Reed, RHP,San Diego State 3S) Thomas Royse, RHP, University of Louisville (TJ surgery 2011 but is supposed to be back this year) 4) Matthew Grimes, RHP, Georgia HS (enrolled at Georgia Tech, good freshman year, but pitched only a handful of games this year) 5) Andy Wilkins, 1B, University of Arkansas 6) Rangel Ravelo, 3B, Florida HS 7) Tyler Saladino, SS, Oral Roberts 8) Josef Terry, 2B, Cerritos Junior College (went unsigned, back to school, now property of the Cincinnati Reds) 9) Kevin Moran, RHP, Boston College (Haven't heard much about him since '11) 10) Ross Wilson, 2B, University of Alabama For a draft class that some called so-so, not too shabby.

Starting to wonder if this year's Jordan Danks = Last year's Alejandro De Aza...as far as this board saying "PROMOTE HIM!!"
-
AAP: Brady Shoemaker
I really wish he was promoted to AA TODAY...

AAP: Kevan Smith
QUOTE (OilCan @ Sep 12, 2011 -> 02:20 PM) John Sickels has posted a "Who should be considered for the short season player of the year." http://www.minorleagueball.com/2011/9/12/2...ogin=1315854695 Here's what I said: Through two Rookie levels, the seventh round pick from 2011 was .355/.448/.626/1,073 in 56 games. Out of 72 hits, 34 were extra base hits, 9 of them were HR. 48 RBI. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...&pid=607345 Follow up from Sickels' writing on Short Season POTYs So that teaches me to take the HR rate with a grain of salt due to the age competition. Let's see what Smith does for the remainder of the year.

AAP: Jose Guillermo Quintana
#20 on Sickels' list MLB's 2012 Prospect Watch - #19 From Sox Bronze Titan - via Baseball Instinct.
-
AAP: Jose Guillermo Quintana
Current stats, both minor and major leagues And it wasn't as if Jose was awful in the Yankee's farm system, he did pretty good in 2011. Scouting Report - SSS Fangraphs - Pitch Type, looks like he has a slider too. Per Wiki, Quintana's past.

AAP: Kevan Smith
Pretty good May. .278/.352/.433/.785 YTD: 49 games/194 ABs 55 hits 16 2bs 2 HRs 26 runs/26 RBIs 11/39 walk/K ratio .284/.346/.397/.743
-
AAP: Nevin Griffith
Well, the month of May can't end fast enough for Nevin. In 14.2 IP, he has 17 WALKS, 8Ks. YTD totals: 15 games, 25 IP 14 hits allowed (good) 10 R/10 ER (OK) 22 WALKS. (NOT GOOD) 14 Ks. 3.60 ERA It's too bad. Injuries are taking a toll on him regarding location.

AAP: Mark Haddow
Guess who's leading the Sox's minor leagues in hits.....with 61.
-
AAP: Jeff Soptic
I missed this one. From Prospect Instinct
-
AAP: Dan Black
Black is getting hot in W-S. A few more weeks of same production and I would like to see him promoted to AA.

5/30 Games
It's like I said re Molina, he's adjusting and struggling a bit in AA, let's see how he handles it for the next several starts. He's only 22, so he has some time to develop.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 30, 2012 -> 05:33 PM) Some of you guys have such knee-jerk reactions when it comes to prospects. Nestor wasn't going to be a chance on this team until MAYBE sometime next season anyway. If we get to the start of 2014 season and he isn't ready to take a spot at the end of the rotation, then I'll be worried. IIRC, wasn't it KW who is on record saying Molina WOULD have been a callup sometime this year? Can't find the quote, but I thought that was the case. CORRECTION - it was from the Chicago Tribune. It's not the worse thing in the world for Molina to have a little adversity...let's see how he pitches out of it. Remember, in baseball experience, he's still a young one. BTW - Morel is batting second in the Knights game. BTW part 2 - T2 is channeling his inner Jared Mitchell with a brual May. Ick. .204/.279/.409/.687 36Ks/93 ABs. http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?p...&pid=572204

Quintana
As good as Q has been spot-filling, sending him down to AAA and getting him more experience would be the best thing. Or if he goes back to AA where he started this year.
-
5/30 Games
Nestor's May stats have been absolutely brutal. Keenyn Walker is 2nd in the SALLY in SBs, with 26. Delino Jr has 31. Game 2 of Kanny's game - Jeff Soptic's one inning, earns the Win.

Rays vs White Sox 12:10 CST
QUOTE (greg775 @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:55 PM) I guess you are not allowed to come in and b****slap the mighty Rays in their s***ty stadium with their 1,000 fans. *fixed*

Rays vs White Sox 12:10 CST
I'm about ready for a comebacker/up the middle by Dunn or Konerko at this point - right back at the pitcher. This is ridiculous.
-
Rays vs White Sox 12:10 CST
Mother heffer. That pick off attempt by Howell was NO WHERE NEAR CLOSE to second base. About 2-3 feet from the bag and a LOW throw. I'll call it. It was intentional. Might be a meathead comment, but that's OK.

Uh oh, knee hit.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) Be careful on your slide DeAza if you go for SB #11. Howell not the same pitcher he was in 2008 and 2009. Well, there you go.

Rays vs White Sox 12:10 CST
Nice AB by DeAza, coming back from 0-2 to walk.
