QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 10:35 AM) Obama says we should be focused on Afghanistan and Pakistan, including possibly putting troops inside Pakistan with or without permission. I tend to agree - we went way off the tracks going into Iraq. You want to really fight Al Qaeda, the military part of that mission needs to go to their base of operation. We left Afghanistan far too early. No kidding. If we are the policemen of the world trying to rid all evil dictators then perhaps we should invade North Korea and Iran, heck even China. If we want to actually fight the "war on terror" then we should be in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 10:06 AM) According to your camp, getting out now. Since the easy answer is to "get out", what would you suggest, other then that, seeing as how I never see ANY answers from people like you. No, you first. Then I'll answer. I didn't claim that I had the right answer. You said we had to "get it right" so I was wondering what that meant. I assumed you knew something we all didn't.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 1, 2007 -> 07:55 AM) Because they have tried making this a "political" thing... that's the real reason why things haven't gotten done over there like it needs to. And that's squarely on this administration. Stop the pansy ass waivering back and forth because of "poltical consequences", get it right, and THEN get out. But not until then. What does "get it right" entail?

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) Like Kalapse, I will go and guess the prospect. I say it will be A ball reliever John Madden, who has okay numbers but a strong arm. And a gig with EA Sports.

QUOTE(frankie5angels @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 01:51 PM) I just can't believe that Dye isn't linked to any other teams. His stock must be really low around baseball. He must beat his wife or something.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 01:04 PM) I lost you at ....he is fielding well. LOL....no kidding.

At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if no deal went down today and reading quotes from Kenny tomorrow about how he still thinks we have a shot this year and that he traded Iguchi because Richar gives us the best chance to win this year. Then he'll say something about never intending to trade Dye, Contreras or Garland....he was just listening to offers.
-
Why don't the Yankees trade for Dye just to keep him away from Boston? Seems like teams did stuff like that back in the day.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 11:12 AM) I was pondering this thought moments ago while dropping a deuce. Thanks for the visual.

Without going back and reading this whole thread, why not trade Thome and resign Dye for 2 years as our DH. I would assume Thome might actually get something back in return since no one really wants to offer anything for Dye.

Looking forward to picking up the new Common album after work.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 10:04 PM) Dye getting hot at the perfect time, just a shame it couldn't have been a few weeks sooner. For real. We could have scored a big trade with him hitting like this earlier. Nice win though.

Iguchi Traded to Phillies for RP/SP Michael Dubee

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:31 PM) Remember when Iguchi made that play last year where he like spun upside down. That was cool. That line sounds like something you'd hear on the Chris Farley Show. -

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:20 PM) What exactly did you expect in return Dick Hea......er Big Sqwert? He is in the last year of his contract, hitting .250 with 6 HRs and 30 RBI, and is poor defensively. What were you expecting. Please tell me. Instead of jsut saying how bad it was, offer up something inteligent to the conversation. First learn how to spell the word intelligent before telling someone how to behave intelligently. -

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:14 PM) Yeah, because Jermaine Dye and Iguchi are comparable players. Genius. I didn't realize Kenny Williams posted on this site. -

So we should expect a couple of churros and an autographed Pete Incaviglia card from Texas for Dye? -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) I'm not going to complain, too much. But Jesus, is this all we could receive for Iguchi considering Philadelphia was desperate for a second basemen to replace Utley? This pitcher is the equivalent of a "C" level prospect. 21 year old relief pitchers in Single A with those peripherals aren't very valuable. LOL at your avatar. I just noticed it. -
