  1. QUOTE(infohawk @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 11:17 AM) I think that he could become a reliable fourth or fifth starter in time. Seems like an oxymoron. A fourth or fifth starter is not very reliable, hence why they are slotted in the back of the rotation.
  2. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 01:40 AM) If you do that then you'll end up like me during the 2005 season, that's what I did for the second half of the season and look what happened. I felt like an idiot afterwards and to this day I wish I would have been there watching them towards the end of the season in the race to get the playoffs. (I watched all of the playoffs but it definitely wasn't the same.) So try and watch because they have been exciting to watch in this series. Please don't tell me you are seriously comparing this team with the 2005 team.
  3. What's up with the photo of Floyd on the Sox website? Does he have eczema?
  4. How do you go from having one of the best offensive years in team history to hitting .230? I'm perplexed.
  5. QUOTE(Rooftop Shots @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 07:17 PM) If everyone else on the board cannot do the same, I can't but help question of how loyal of a Sox fan that you say you are. Give me a break. Unless You haven't missed a single game since you were 5 years old you shouldn't be judging other people's dedication to the team.
  6. Frankly I don't really watch much anymore. Read the box scores and shake my head.

I did catch "It's All Gone Pete Tong" during Soxtalk's hiatus. It was a highly entertaining film about a superstar DJ in Ibiza who winds up losing his hearing. It's shot in somewhat of a mockumentary style and has several funny moments. Overall a 7 out of 10.

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 03:31 PM) I heard Chuck and LArry was a great movie. Are you serious? I have not heard a single good thing about this movie. Even the trailer looks atrocious.

I highly recommend that you do not rent "Shortbus". This is the first movie in a long time that I turned off without finishing it. If you enjoy lousy acting, lame characters, and graphic 3-way sex involving men than go ahead and rent it. Otherwise I would pass on it.
  11. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 12:07 AM) Mitt Romney doesn't shoot dogs, he straps them to the roof of his car. Nicely done.
  12. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 20, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) Wasn't sure where to put this, not worth its own thread, but something worth noting... President Bush will hand power over to Dick Cheney for a few hours on Saturday while Bush undergoes a semi-routine medical procedure which requires anesthesia. During that period, Mr. Cheney will be the acting President of the United States. I was under the impression he handed over the job to Cheney back in January of 2001.
  13. QUOTE(ROC Sox Fan @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 11:55 PM) ... and we've been beating some better teams. To be honest, pretty much everyone we face is going to be a better team. We have one of the worst records in the league.
  14. QUOTE(AirScott @ Jul 20, 2007 -> 09:27 AM) The idea of an all-flamethrowers pen sounded like a good idea, and looked OK in April. Speak for yourself. I thought it was too 1 dimensional. But I'm typically wrong in my predictions.
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 20, 2007 -> 09:08 AM) As SS2K5 pointed out in another thread, one thing that may help this 'pen is the recent addition of two pitchers with styles entirely different than the fireballers - Haeger and Wassermann. Adding a knuckler and a submariner to the mix might help the other guys, kind of like a pitcher adding a good changeup to his repertoire (though to a less dramatic extent). I remember making a comment like this before the season started when everyone was so excited about having a pen full of flamethrowers. My comment was brushed off by most.
  16. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 19, 2007 -> 09:37 PM) Its like nobody thinks the website is up and running.....wierd./green No. The Sox are just hard to follow these days.
  17. I'm surprised no one has posted that this isn't a big deal. I am sure there is a segment of the population that doesn't see how this is a crime. Just ask Clinton Portis.

Saw Sicko over the weekend. Highly recommended.
  19. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 02:42 PM) interestingly enough, San Diego is 1st in ERA, lol.
  20. Which stat are you referring to? Batting average? Hits?
  21. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 01:06 PM) Well. meteorologists are scientists as well. But most weather-people are NOT meteorologists. Ah. Thanks for the clarification.
  22. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 10:29 AM) I was bored...and I like puns. LOL That really made me laugh. QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 11:01 AM) I find it hilarious that people are ok with Gore spouting about the end times because of global warming. How many billions have gone into the research of meteorology? How many meteorologists are working right now? They can't get a f*cking forecast correct 24 hours from now. And you want me to believe some government report about the end times in 10 years based on temperature levels from 1750? You consider meteorologists scientists? That's almost like calling a fortune teller a scientist.
  23. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 09:43 AM) The earth adapts to changes on a grand scale that humanity cannot control. Please provide me with proof of this with regards to CO2 emissions. What has the Earth done to adapt to the trillions of tons of CO2 emissions we dump into the atmosphere. You know I thought the GOP was the party of family values. I care about my daughter and the children she will have one day. I want them to have clean air and water. I want them to have good health. The GOP could care less about these issues.
  24. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 13, 2007 -> 09:43 AM) The earth adapts to changes on a grand scale that humanity cannot control. So how does the Earth adapt to all the HUMAN caused wastes dumped into rivers in lakes since the start of the Industrial Revolutions, things that ares still being done in countries like China and India? How does the Earth adapt to HUMAN caused catastrophes like oil spills? How does the Earth adapt to highly industrialized areas where acid rain falls?
