  1. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 08:24 AM) 1. one of the best offenses, at their stadium 2. The Yankees history of coming back in their own stadium. 3. A possible playoff matchup. For those 3 reasons alone Hawk is being a complete hypocrite for saying this series isn't that big. That was my whole point. We all know it's a big series.
  2. For a guy that has completely downplayed this series vs the Yankees Hawk sounded like we had just won game 7 of the ALCS. He could barely speak he was so full of emotion. I don't mind that type of emotion but it seems a bit hypocritical after he's been downplaying the series for the last few days. Would he have reacted the same way if we had preserved a 2-1 win against the Royals? I don't know but I do know, like most of us, that this is a pretty damn big series. Lets face it. The whole nation is now watching our boys. The spotlight is on us and it is nice to see our guys play well.
  3. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 07:57 AM) And who wants to read 20 pages of OMG THIS TEAM IS THE SUXORS!!11!! WE NEED OT TRADE 4 GRIF OR WWE ARE DONE. Well there should be a nice balance in order for the message board to be successful.
  4. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) You obviously don't know much about Chacon Yeah, he's similar to Cy Young. Top of everyone's wish list.
  5. This offense makes me want to puke. This is Shawn Chacon for the love of God.
  6. I guess the Geoff Blum experiment didn't last long.
  7. Hey GBlum27, you're magic # is wrong. Should be 39.
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 07:16 PM) He is afraid to pitch a strike now. We need to find him a Cuban shrink.
  9. here comes the big inning
  10. QUOTE(sti3 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 07:07 PM) I thought corpseball was when the offense didn't do anything. I thought corpseball is the 02-04 Sox. Relying on HRs only. Never manufacturing runs. Swinging for the fences.
  11. Corpse ball is back in swing! Yay!
  12. QUOTE(gettysburg32 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) Someone want to fill me in with what was so wrong about Rowand batting in the 3rd spot? I know he doesn't hit the usual number of HRs a 3rd place hitter does, but I thought in a "Robby Alomar in his prime" way, Rowand fit the bill pretty well, especially when Pods and Gooch are getting on base at a good clip. (and not that Rowand is R. Alomar in his prime, but anyway, it's the best we can do right now) Dye should hit #3. Aaron doesn't seem patient enough as a #3 hitter. Too many times this year I've seen him swing at a 1st pitch after 2 quick outs.
  13. Wasn't Willie a pair of fresh legs?
  14. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) Folk's, if the guy's negative, what's the matter with that? That is the way he feels and isn't this the place to voice your feelings? Now if he was trying to force you to be negative too, then you have a gripe. However, I have a hunch that, like the times I post negative, I am hoping someone will either provide some hope it will get better or that I was wrong. Sometimes we just have to play virtual bartender, you know? SFF Amen to that. Who wants to read page after page of "We are the best! Sox rule!". It's ok to be critical of the team.
  15. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 12:58 PM) Wow, another negative thread from "Greg Hibbard", why am I not surprised? 11 of your last 15 topics have been negative. You'd think we were 13.5 Games back instead of 13.5 games up. You're telling me you are very positive about the way our offense has looked?
  16. Rooney rox. He's the best guy in town. Radio or TV.
  17. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 11:42 AM) Wait, the fans punched Pods in the face? Looked like he hit him in the face. Kinda like this...
  18. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) *slow clap*
  19. Our offense is painful to watch.
  20. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) I think were flat because our team is playing small ball in a long ball park We've been playing small ball in a HR park all year. Seems like we've been struggling at home only recently. I just think it would have been a nice boost to get a big bat at the deadline.
  21. Back to the original post...anyone else think there was a bit of a letdown by the team when we didn't pick up a big name at the trade deadline? I mean look at what happened to the Cubs when they picked up Nomar or when Houston picked up Beltran. Those teams reacted very well while we are very flat.
