  1. I'm surprised no one has really commented on the brewing Catholic priest scandal. *awaits Balta to post several links to his posts on the topic*
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 10:54 AM) So the Office used to be my fave on the Thursday Night thing on NBC, but it keeps going downhill, and I'm now a much bigger fan of Community, and to a lesser extent 30 Rock. Parks and Rec is even getting close to The Office now. They either need some new characters on The Office, or need to wind down that program. You ever see this?

  5. DVR question (DirecTv): Once something is recorded can you transfer the video to a jump drive?
  6. Not regretting that I missed The Office last night.
  7. For anyone graduating in business Orbitz.com has a finance intern position posted on their website. Awesome company to work for.
  8. “I said I had very serious concerns that Barack Obama had anti-American views. And now I look like Nostradamus," - Michele Bachmann
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 09:00 AM) Which is why the majority of most start ups fail within two years. Companies that last, plan. Think of it as corporate Darwinism. Every company I've worked for relied primarily on "short-termism". And I've worked for several Fortune 500 companies. And I'm not just making educated guesses. I work in Internal Audit and look at corporate plans and strategies and often attend board meetings.
  10. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 08:57 AM) Like I said, that's not blanket to all capitalism. Some may do it, but its not smart, and it's not viable for long term growth or health of a company. There are a lot of companies born and raised in this capitalist society that have been and remain viable after decades and decades of slow growth. You're referring to outliers and not the norm.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 08:57 AM) That's the same reason I hate our federal government. They are the kings of the short term. I can't disagree.
  12. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 08:53 AM) That's not blanket to all capitalism. A lot of stupid CEO's and CFO's were probably interviewed there, because others do have future vision to keeping their company viable for a long time, rather than just the next quarter. LINK And that's just one example. I've been going to business seminars for 10 years now and have been provided with many similar results from studies. But what do I know.
  13. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 08:48 AM) Just because you say or think something doesn't make it reality. What you said right there is simply not true. Study after study of CFOs and CEOs have shown that the next quarterly report trumps any potential investment that pays off in huge dividends in the mid to long term. TO ADD: LINK
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 08:44 AM) WITHIN the next 10? Yes, I never said otherwise. The next 10, it will begin to drop. That's more what I am saying here. This gets back to what I've said a bazillion times - the opportunity for the US to get in front of these technologies can pay enormous dividends later. And that is the only model that will work well for the US in the current global economy. We cannot compete at the stage of broad, mainline manufacturing. Our money has to be made in front of technologies, not behind them. And that's another reason why I hate capitalism. It's all about the short term.

  16. Why is the religious right against stem cells? Isn't Eve a stem cell from Adam?
  17. QUOTE (Tex @ Mar 26, 2010 -> 06:06 AM) Happy Birthday! Your birthday and my Church's annual pig roast and fajita cookoff on the same day!? Coincidence? I don't think God works that way. It's the yin and yang of the universe.
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 07:14 PM) Sorta off-topic but BS, did you see on my Facebook status a few days ago where my friend Courtney commented a couple spots after you and said something to the effect "that guy above me could get it" lol Oh yes I did.
  19. I know quite a few Socialists and Obama ain't no Socialist.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 25, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) A few hours after Mr. Cantor denounced Democrats for ratcheting up the rhetoric for political gain, he appeared as the featured guest on a conference call organized by the “S.T.O.P. Obama Tyranny National Coalition.” That can't be possible. He was probably still shaken up that a bullet barely broke through a window of an old office window he once used and gently fell a few inches from said window after not being able to penetrate the blinds.
  21. Saw that the other day. Disgusting.
  22. Single payer takes care of all those issues.
