QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Mar 31, 2010 -> 08:10 AM) Well maybe that was my problem. I should have had a few beers before hand and then things would have seemed a lot funnier I am sure. And you know that scene where was hilarious.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 06:44 PM) Balta posted a link to it in the Money thread. Supposedly it is a thinner phone with a faster processor. This announcement was supposed to come the day the iPad was announced, but they probably didn't want to steal any of their own thunder away. It can only help Apple, that's for certain. So long DROID. I wouldn't say that. It's gotten a pretty good reception and you'd think it would be upgraded over time as well.

Hot Tub Time Machine = a solid B Not hilarious but it was fun and made me laugh a few times. And it was cool to hang out with some of the guys and have a few beers right beforehand.
  8. QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 04:55 PM) I thought the black looked amazing on tv. Plus white would mess with the fielders and picking up the ball I believe. Your just racist.
  9. I still think they should have made it a white out instead. White really "pops". The black is barely noticeable on tv.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 04:46 PM) Are you serious about a blackout? Don't try to recreate a great moment. Plus if it's 65, nobody is going to want to wear all black. Dumb move. Posted on Merkin's blog: http://scottmerkin.mlblogs.com/
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 04:33 PM) Was so excited I made THIS!!! Thanks for the seizure.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 08:45 AM) NY Times conservative columnist David Brooks spent a whole column today telling us why Sandra Bullock should have been staying at home popping out babies to keep her marriage solid rather than winning an Academy Award. I enjoyed Digby's entry on this topic.

  15. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) So once they turn 18 (21) you won't care anymore? I'm not sure I have a definitive answer to that. I dunno, maybe 25? It's a fact of life....there are a large number of people in the world that want to alter their minds and will no matter what laws are in place.
  16. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 03:09 PM) Completely disagree. Alcohol is not nearly as addictive as cocaine, not the same universe. The great majority of people can have an occasional drink and not be addicted - if the great majority of people did cocaine a few times, we'd have 10's of millions of addicts. And while alcohol does represent danger to society, mostly due to DUI problems, a person with a few drinks in them is not nearly as likely to be violent as someone on cocaine. Wow. Where do you get your info from? The 700 Club? (I kid because I care) But seriously....violence? I've known quite a few people in my life time that dabbled in cocaine and I'd categorize a whole 0% of them as violent, even when they were high. It only takes 2 stiff drinks to kill someone's family driving home from church.
  17. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 03:08 PM) Possibly not directly at all, but that doesn't mean I want it legally available and accessible to anyone who wants it. Wood you want your kids to be able to walk down to the local store whenever they pleased and be able to buy an 8-ball, for example? Kids don't have legal access to vodka either.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) It absolutely is. That's where cocaine is different than mary jane. A guy smokes a joint, he's pretty harmless to public safety, and isn't likely to get addicted either. A guy does cocaine, he'll tend to do a lot of stupid and dangerous things, and be much more likely to get addicted and do it a lot more often. There are increased risks to society there, dramatically increased, not to mention increased costs for health care and lots of other things. I see no difference in cocaine or alcohol in terms of impact to society or tendency to become an addiction. One was selected arbitrarily to be legal while the other is demonized. And no, I am not a user.
  19. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 02:56 PM) For something like marijuana, fine, but that's about it. How is your life impacted if you next door neighbor enjoys cocaine?
  20. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 02:46 PM) So that's the argument you're gonna use for why drugs should be legal? There are plenty of arguments to be made for legalization. The costly and inevitable failure of a "drug war" is merely one of them.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) I'd hate to start the arb clock, but you'd be crazy to not use Flowers. For real. I'd actually consider planting some flowers behind home plate to stop pitches from going to the backstop before I'd bring up Lucy.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) How has Rios hit and looked this spring? Give us a thorough assessment of his performance. Why do people keep bringing up Wise? He's gone. Some of us liked him. You just want to keep digging the knife in? I'll bite my tongue and not go into a long discussion of why I like Wise. Because he's garbage.
  23. Thank goodness drugs are still illegal. This war on drugs is going really well and should end any day now.
