  1. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 12:22 PM) posting on Soxtalk causes global warming, bigsqwert. just something to keep in mind. What's there to keep in mind? Unless I kill myself there's no way to make zero impact on the environment but I do my best.
  2. I think lostfan's sig sums it up best. Good day sir.
  3. QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 08:52 AM) Fine, if you want it that way. But the Geneva Convention doesn't apply to Al Qaeda. I'll just continue to side with the other 43 presidents on this one. You can keep using your asterisk based rationalizations for immorality.
  4. QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 08:49 AM) Oh yeah, I'm sure they'd reveal all their plans over a nice cup of tea. Reagan was anti-torture. Was he a bad president?
  5. Why did Ronald Reagan want to drink a cup of coffee with people who wanted to kill Americans? Link
  6. I think we should all start our own thread with our user name as the thread title. We can post anything in our own thread but nothing anywhere else in the filibuster. You're allowed to lurk in other people's thread for no more than 10 minutes per day. Setting this up and monitoring will take a lot of time and effort so everyone should just write me a check for $40 if they want their very own thread started up.
  7. Gallup poll shows that 62% want to see either a criminal investigation or fact-finding independent panel for possible torture used in terror investigations. LINK
  8. QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 10:33 AM) As part of an adventure it looks like I will be traveling on the Texas Eagle from Chicago to Austin or San Antonio with my daughter. We will get a sleeperette for the trip. Takes 30 hours to Austin, 33 hours to San Antonio. No earthly idea why Austin to San Antonio should take 3 hours. That's a one hour or so drive. Maybe the train runs on I-35 for that part of the trip. Crappiest traffic in Texas!
  9. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 10:48 AM) Read your own papers that you want to prosecute people over... they tried many things and only did waterboarding as a last resort, and only to 3 people. And it did get results, but just not in your precious documents that were blacked about on that part. My "friends" illustration is just as ludicrous as your "waterboarding is war crimes" is, it's the opposite extreme. Waterboarding + sleep deprevation + walling = torture in any book
  10. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 10:44 AM) Let's just sit down and have a cup of coffee, make them comfortable, and hope they talk... that's pretty much being their friend. Because there's only 2 options, waterboarding or having a cup of coffee with them.
  11. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 10:42 AM) What's next? Allowing someone who has already been a part of the murder of 3,000 people and was plotting for thousands more to be our friend? Right. We're asking them to be our friends. *face palm*
  12. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 10:22 AM) Do you want to take the chance on thousands of lives? Coming from the same crowd that is ok with warrantless phone tapping. Whatever it takes to protect us! What's next? Opening our mail? Installing video cameras in our homes? We need more Benjamin Franklin's...
  13. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 10:27 AM) wow. I am REALLY getting tired of advertising. Next up "that ball was brought to you by..." "That last strike is brought to you by..." "The first baseman's nut scratch is sponsored by" brought to you by Carl's Jr
  14. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 10:16 AM) No one said it was "safe". But it is effective in certain circumstances. But you all want it to be something so bad you can't see through the rest. You all have such a hard on to get even with Bush officials that you simply cannot fathom that we might have gotten information that saved lives. You don't want that to be true, because then your arguments don't mean as much. I would want Obama and any other president under the microscope if they were advocating torture. It's not a Bush thing for me. It's about right vs wrong.
  15. Why did we execute Japanese who were waterboarding our soldiers? And which one is it? If waterboarding is so safe why is it used? Sounds ineffective the way you put it.
  16. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 10:06 AM) It is not torture. Like Sullivan said...go volunteer to be sleep deprived for several weeks, thrown into a wall repeatedly and water boarded over 100 times and tell me you weren't tortured.
  17. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 10:03 AM) They are not war crimes. Torture is not a war crime? You learn something new everyday.
  18. Here's a boatload of recipes.
  19. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 09:10 AM) Who is the sane conservative? Sullivan? Surely you jest? Just because someone doesn't spew hatred and talking points ala Rush and Hannity does not disqualify them from believing in conservative principles. from wiki:
  20. Maybe it wasn't such a terrible idea to shake his hand afterall?
  21. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 12:57 AM) Results from a poll in a men's magazine reveal that 26% of women are thinking about this during sex. What is it? Take a guess. BigSqwert pun intended
  22. Nice to read a sane conservative's point of view on this whole torture issue.
  23. QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 07:02 AM) It don't matter anymore. Because we won't be getting info from the terrorists anymore, soldiers will just shoot to kill and not take any prisoners since the only thing that can happen if they take someone in, is that they will be released. What I find funny is that at the same time, Barack Obama has authorized air strikes where terrorists are known to be. Now, I have nothing wrong with that... but everyone's making a big deal about waterboarding, when the terrorists and their families are gonna get blown to hell. It's okay to kill them and their family, but when you waterboard a terrorist to get vital info that may save thousands of American lives (which it has been proven to do), you've crossed the line! This is insanity. If there's another terrorist attack on US Soil in the next 4 years, Obama better be impeached, because it will be on his head.
  24. I have a tattoo of Herm Schneider's head on my chest, drawn to scale.
