The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 08:35 PM) You save lives by pouring water over his face or putting a cockroach in with him, I don't give a s***, and neither do most Americans given the choice. LINK

The Republican Thread
QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 18, 2009 -> 09:36 AM) Awww... that's cute! How many nuclear warheads were aimed at the U.S. when Ford shook hands with Brezhnev? 15,000? How many are aimed at us from Chavez? 0?

Texas Gov: We May Need to Secede
QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 18, 2009 -> 06:33 AM) Part One, I am, although it's been 15 years now. Part Two. Yep, Texans do. What does that tell you about the other states that cannot seem to muster that same state pride?? That type of pride is only rivaled by late 1930's Germany.

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 03:20 PM) I'll make one more point here. I think it's fascinating that this s*** three times in a row now has gotten released when our president goes on a foreign trip and has a speech coinciding about how sorry we are for all of the world's wrongs. What bulls***. The asshole can't go anywhere without telling everyone everywhere about how bad our country is. If it's that bad, just stay over in Europe or Mexico. Stay classy.

Sox sign Podsednik to MLC
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 11:23 AM) When he gets hurt this season (which will happen) I hope they bring up Allen to DH. I have a feeling they'll just have Paulie DH and play Betemit at 1st when Thome hurts his back.

Sox sign Podsednik to MLC
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 11:07 AM) Don't tease me like that He's hitting about as well as Frank would if he were on the team. Sorry Thome lovers but he's done. Yeah he'll have a few HRs this year but I'll be amazed if he hits .250.

Rays should be contracted...IMMEDIATELY
Baseball and Florida is something that will never really work IMO. It's not a baseball state.

Texas Gov: We May Need to Secede
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 10:38 AM) I think that speaks volumes about Texas that a quarter of their residents are at least not opposed to it though. How many other states would even top 10%? Well maybe Hawaii and Alaska, possibly Utah but thats it. It's also that state that has chainsaw wielding murderers.

Top picks for White Sox road trips
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 10:27 AM) What, no votes for the Ballpark in Arlington, the nearly world famous launching pad and sign stealing? It's a pretty nice park IMO. I wouldn't go after 04/30 though unless you're naked.

Top picks for White Sox road trips
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 10:18 AM) I can't imagine the city experience is very good at Comerica... I know it wasn't for us! It's great if you want to pretend you're living in a bombed out Beirut.

Rail Transit improvements thread
I'd say lets start small and build it over time. 3 tracks in the first 10 years: Boston/NY, Chicago/Cleveland, LA/SF

Rail Transit improvements thread
Then how do countries in Europe and Japan get it done. It's not like we're trying to do something that only Dubai is doing. We don't need to do an NY to LA high speed rail but a few regional systems would be a blessing.

Rail Transit improvements thread
Just reminds me of this piece of crap CTA train system in Chicago. "We're going to fix the current train system that was established in 1905 so that trains can now go to the maximum speed of 55 mph. And in 2 years when we have no funding to upkeep the tracks the trains will go back to 25mph and we'll be forced to increase fares 50%" Whoopie!

Rail Transit improvements thread
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 09:59 AM) Obama prefers improving existing rail lines to allow for the max speed the equipment can handle - 110 mph. Right now many of the rail segments only allow 70 or 80 or whatever. Going this way is cheaper and faster than building entirely new rail, acquiring right of ways, etc. I tend to agree with him. meh

Rail Transit improvements thread
Where are we getting the 110mph figure from? Is that all that these so called "high speed" rail options are going to offer? What a gip. How about getting a true high speed rail option.

QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 09:43 AM) Camden Yards, and Fenway Park are musts. Jacobs Field, or Progressive, whatever they call it is pretty nice also. Definitely go to Baltimore and Boston though. I hear Safeco is amazing too. Visiting Safeco during Memorial Day weekend. Can't wait.

The Tea Party
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) MY PROTEST WAS BIGGER THAN YOURZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The reason I initially brought up crowd figures was the disparity in MSM coverage. The war protests saw tens of thousands of people gathering in cities across the country (about 100K in one city alone) while protests of a few hundred yesterday received a ridiculous amount of attention and news coverage.

Anybody care to trade for Fukudome to play CF?
