QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 8, 2008 -> 09:04 AM) When McCain pointed to Obama and said "that one over there", I was shocked. We already know you don't respect the guy, but that was just plain stupid. That had to offend a lot of people watching the debate. The funny thing is, he was just trying to be sarcastic and "cutesie", but it came off as condescending... McCain, at least at age 72, is not made for debates. I also made a comment to my wife after McCain told that young black dude that he probably didn't know what Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac were before the economic crisis. Why is that McCain? You assume he's stupid? He's the one that asked a question about the economy. That was a dumb comment to make IMO.

If McCain knows how to capture Bin Laden like he stated tonight, what is he waiting for? He been keeping it a secret for the past 7 years?

That's all you have? It's ok to lie about sex ed and kindergarten children in your book but you're outraged that Obama's general counsel suggested that a station refuse to to continue to air an advertisement.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 02:55 PM) he has, by far. it's not even really a close call. I particularly disliked the ad where he claimed McCain wants to teach sex ed to kindergarten students.....oh wait.

I've been checking out what the McCain campaign is doing lately, they have run by far the dirtiest, most dishonest, presidential campaign in modern US election history.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) apparently many of the polls are starting to work cell phones into their polls. Not that it's as exact as land line, they are being used. From everything I've been reading cell phone only users are still severely underrepresented in the polls.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 02:33 PM) Just remember, whatever the polls say, add as much as 2 or 4% to McCain. The fear factor is still there for people to run from Obama, although its mitigated somewhat by the Palin effect. Do you counter balance the fear factor effect to the unpolled cell phone only users who tend to favor Obama?

Obama/McCain Round 2
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 02:22 PM) Bad wording, but good point. Just because factcheck.org (or Snopes, or wikipedia, etc.) says something is or is not true does not necessarily mean it is or is not true. What's going on here? We talking about the bible again?

So what is the GOP trying to insinuate with all of this? That if Obama wins he and Ayers will blow up our country?

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 12:37 PM) It wasn't until after they blew themselves up, that they decided human casualties were unacceptable. Dynamite was being wrapped in tape with nails embedded to act as shrapnel. I guess it could be because they wanted nails to stick in the walls of an empty room, but I'm guessing it was the same reason all terrorists embedd shrapnel and that's to inflict as much harm on as many people as they can. Anyway....glad we agree he's a POS If this guy is so dangerous why is he not in prison?

Free agents?
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 01:30 PM) 1) Furcal, SS 2) Ramirez, 2B 3) CQ, RF 4) Konerko, 1B 5) Dye, DH 6) AJ, C 7) Fields or Free Agent, 3B 8) Swish, LF 9) Anderson/Wise, CF I like the top, hate the bottom.. I'd love a shot at Chipper Jones and Furcal. Jones, Dye, and PK can rotate at DH. I like most of your suggestions. Would love JD to DH and get rid of Thome. Would kill for a better CF solution though. We're in the best division for Cfs and all we can come up with is BA/Wise? *puke*

Obama/McCain Round 2
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 12:43 PM) Tonight will be nasty. McCain: The Gloves Come Off Tonight Good. I hope he comes off as angry and bitter. That may play well for his base but will most likely be a turnoff for independents.

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 11:16 AM) Maybe, but I was talking direct quotes from the candidates themselves, not merely messages spun by underlings or in ads. McCain was quoted as saying that he approved of that message.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 11:07 AM) I'm not just jumping on the terrorist thing. I'm sure the educated masses on soxtalk, in this thread anyway, have known about the Ayers connection for quite some time now. Just because the NYT decided to write an article recently doesn't mean we all just became aware of it. Also, if you want to act like your BFF's with Obama and you know how close he was with his "acquaintances" 20 years ago, then you should spew that stuff in the other thread cause it's nothing but your opinion and that of the Obama campaign. You can close your eyes and pretend Obama didn't know who Ayers was or what he stood for, but I tend to see things a bit more clearly. Ayers is a piece of s***........If his plans had worked thousands of innocent people would be dead from his bombs. Yes Wright was just stupid....let's sweep it under the rug...I'll bet Obama hardly knows the guy McCain voted against legislation to prevent terrorist attacks against abortion clinics. Why doesn't that bother you? And what is McCain proposing to get out of the 8 years of hell that Bush gave us? All he talks about is Obama's character these days.

2008 General Election Discussion Thread
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 7, 2008 -> 10:10 AM) Imo, the most desperate, unstatesmanlike comment ever uttered by a presidential or vice-presidential candidate was Bush I's swipe that "My dog Millie knows more about foreign policy than those two bozos," which he slung at Clinton and Gore in the last days of the 1992 campaign. I have a sad, sinking feeling that this bar will be lowered before this one is over. You don't think the McCain ad that claims Obama wants to teach sex ed to kindergarten students was worse?
