  1. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 08:05 AM) That's not deflation. That's paying fair value for a service, two completely different things. And the bill they signed will do nothing to lower the costs of health care. It *may* slightly lower the costs of health insurance to *SOME* people in need, while raising it for others. But the bills the hospitals and doctors send to the insurance companies will remain the same and/or increase...this was a point of contention I've had about the bill since the start, it was ignored, especially around here. But give it time, you'll all see. I was being a bit sarcastic with the 'deflation' comment. I agree with you about the root causes of health care costs.
  2. Unemployment is going to start rising again. Expect more big losses in the market and in consumer spending.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) How exactly do you think that the cost of living in the U.S. is actually going to go down? Are you arguing that deflation would be a good thing? if unemployment is high, private sector salaries stagnant, and the end of some ridiculous bubble; some stuff is going to cost less (housing for example). so you are suggesting we go back to the boom prices? because anything other than unsustainable boom prices is unacceptable deflation i suppose. EDIT: I also support lower costs for health care. But I guess I shouldn't, because that would be deflation.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 02:53 PM) First of all...I'm impressed that you can include firing 200k teachers as "pointless government jobs". you guys are the ones who want to fire the teachers. i suggest firing the pointless government administrators. but of course, the Democrats threaten to fire all the police and teachers first. who would want that! oh we can print more. so who are you going to give it to? some should go to me. i am entitled. affordable housing is a good thing. the overpriced housing market correction was inevitable. there are some realities here; all those jobs are gone to modernization or outsourcing. the cost of living in the United States probably needs to be reduced. you aren't against globalization are you? if you are against globalization, how could you be such a cruel protectionist?
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 02:44 PM) And trying to live within your means when the fed can't lower rates any more won't work any better now than it did in 1929. That's the Paradox of Thrift in a nutshell. ah yes, the 'OMG GREAT DEPRESSION FOR SURE!" tactic. so, Balta, how much deficit spending do we need to avoid the Great Depression II. How many new pointless government jobs will save the economy? How much will all these jobs cost? $5 trillion? $50 trillion? $100 trillion? You know, we can print that much. And exactly, besides the new government jobs, where will the other jobs come from?
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 12:49 PM) 2008? Anyway, the world's doing exactly what you want and refocusing on cutting back on stimulus, firing people on government jobs can't pay for all those $100,000 a year government admin jobs when there is a much smaller tax base. got to live within your means.
  7. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 01:30 PM) Brenly isnt bad at all oh man, i can't stand that guy. good thing i don't watch the Cubs usually.
  8. the Cubs announcers are awful. i actually feel sorry for Cubs fans. turning it to Hawk and Stone
  9. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 11:19 AM) If the grass is all wet and players are falling all over themselves today then BP can sponsor each spill of the afternoon. haha
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 10:16 AM) I wonder if Pauly will throw out the first pitch in honor of his BP Cup MVP award? Zambrano will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch (sponsored by BP)
  11. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 09:18 AM) Hey Look! It is Rick Nash! even NBA celebrities like Rick Nash are watching the Sox
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 08:52 AM) Rumor is that Pauly was out until 6AM drinking with Freddy at Harry Carays. that rumor is probably true
  13. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 08:51 AM) This game worries me. Winning the BP cup is such a huge distraction they just need to put the BP Cup win behind them (if that's even possible)
  14. QUOTE (Cknolls @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) S&P low below 500. 437.88 to be exact within 18 months.. that's a big prediction; in both severity and accuracy
  15. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) Fox sucks. Got the Dodgers/Yanks game and Lasorda, Reggie Jackson and Billy Crystal have all been in the booth but no freakin' updates or highlights on other games. well, if it makes you feel better, Santo was in the booth for like 1 inning during the Sox game. it was total bulls***. at least you didn't have to deal with that
  16. no coverage of the celebration in the locker room yet. it's probably out of control. I hope the BP Cup is ok though. Pierre could drop it or something.
  17. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) Game not on TV in Colorado Springs. Farmer & DJ say Thornton looks uncomfortable. he does
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 08:39 PM) Anything from Fox is usually exaggerated. haha
  19. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 26, 2010 -> 08:38 PM) When is the parade? there will need to be multiple parades
