Senators propose granting president emergency Internet power
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 17, 2010 -> 05:16 PM) Is it even possible to "take over" the Internet like that? sure, but they would need some sort of control over internet providers, large internet companies, search engines, traffic on private systems, ect. they would need to be involved in a whole lot of stuff.

Arizona requires you to carry your papers
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) Sending them all back is impossible (not impractical) but voters aren't really that bright and generally don't understand anything that takes more than about 2 sentences to explain and can't be bothered with it (I'm serious). If you stop illegal employment and do not allow participation in entitlement programs, there is no incentive to to come in illegally. But the thing is, the GOP wants the super cheap labor, so they go the route of 'guest worker program'. No pathway to citizenship. The Democrats want these new immigrants to get on the entitlement programs and vote Democrat. So anything less than voting citizen is unacceptable.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 06:48 PM) There's a decent amount of info out there on the average health insurance policy costs for a family of four. It's something like $5000 annual average country-wide and as high as $13000 average in NJ. Health insurance is not cheap at all, and it's prohibitively expensive if you don't have your employer subsidizing it. the root cause of the high prices are the absurdly high health care costs in the United States... and these costs keep increasing. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100614/ap_on_...11_health_costs Employers to see costs up 9.5% this year. Projected to go up another 9% next year. This will get passed down to employees.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 06:13 PM) Without looking at polls I would assume most people are actually ok with this line of thinking. the majority of people in the country support the much maligned AZ law (according to this CBS News/New York Times poll). the poll also shows most people support 'make them leave' or 'only can stay as guest workers'. http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20004030-503544.html

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 09:14 PM) But now we have plenty of reason to keep 100,000 people dying there for the next decade. And paying $100 billion a year for the privilege. well, you know what you need to do. DESTROY THE MINERAL DEPOSITS.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) 60 feet is close range? 10 feet sure is. you have no idea how close he was when chucking the rocks. that cell phone video shows nothing. even 60 feet would mess you up. the guy was trying to detain someone during the whole thing. was in a vulnerable position.

You throw rocks, We shoot to kill . . .
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 13, 2010 -> 07:57 PM) well, i can't wait to implement the policy of shooting teenagers anytime they do something stupid in this country. throwing baseball sized rocks at a police officers head, close range, will probably get a US teenager shot. maybe you could try it and tell me what happens. see if my theory pans out.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 12, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) I'm not even sure where the gratuitous shot at unions there comes from. Enlighten? I believe it's a reference to Obama not putting a temporary moratorium on the Merchant Marine Act of 1920 (Jones Act), to allow foreign vessels to help with the cleanup.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 12:05 PM) The point is, an out of work financial planner who was earning $75,000 annually is not switching careers and working in a nursery for 20 years. Those are not equal jobs. Replacing $50,000 jobs with $20,000 isn't equal at all. there's a lot of people doing just that. millions actually. many people are taking whatever they can get.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 05:41 PM) I'm confused. US officer on US side. Dead Mexican kid on Mexican side. Empty shell casing on Mexican side. Mexican "Gun" (?) on US side. Why is there a casing on the Mexican side? What gun is it from? If the Mexican kid had a gun, why is it on the US side? hard to say what was found where. evidence could be corrupted. i guess the video the US has could shed some light on what happened. either way it will probably flare up again.

You throw rocks, We shoot to kill . . .
http://www.foxnews.com/world/2010/06/09/me...n-near-el-paso/ It appears that this kid may have had a gun. Now video shows the Mexican 'law enforcement' came across into the US territory to get the evidence all while threatening to shoot US border patrol. Frankly, they should be thanking the US for not shooting their clueless keystone cops for illegally entering the US with guns drawn.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 01:44 PM) The Dems will take both. The Republican primaries pushed both of those candidates so far to the right that it's going to be way too easy for Brown and Boxer to run the "Carly Fiorina said xxxx about immigration" ad. I also predict a Dem sweep. I think the Brown vs Whitman will be close.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 9, 2010 -> 12:28 PM) i'm just so shocked fiorino won. She's such a terrible candidate. She was a failure as an executive, failure as a McCain flac, and the only thing remarkable about her campaign has been incredibly modern and awesome viral commercials. Otherwise she says a bunch of stupid s***. Oh wait, she's republican. She'll probs be president. Fiorina should be pretty easy to beat. Terrible record as CEO for HP. There's so many things to run against her on.
