QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 26, 2010 -> 11:03 AM) Honestly I think you are right in a sense, but not the one you described. The Bush admin at least tried to respond, no matter how badly they did. This is WAY worse, because the Obama admin is actually refusing to respond to this. BP paid a lot of bribe money to Obama in the past. He's just coming through on his part of the deal.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 26, 2010 -> 11:51 AM) So NOW you have a problem with the government targeting political opponents with surveillance mechanisms? ^^^ illegal post (the tone was angry) anyways, i have always been against such surveillance. why do think i would suddenly be against this type of stuff?

Better be careful about what you post. It's probably illegal. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/25/b...h_n_588798.html Balta commits like 100 crimes a day with his harassing posts here at Soxtalk (i find them very offensive and mean)

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 25, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) Link the 2010 number (the only one that is real) is very close. Those 'predictions' seem like they are counting on a spectacular US economic recovery. Not so sure that is going to happen. At least not in the next few years. The deficit as a % of GDP could actually grow.

Interesting Unemployment Numbers
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 24, 2010 -> 01:31 PM) Is that true? I thought all the reports are saying that jobs that are outsourced are replaced with other jobs here. That was the theory. I didn't pan out that way. We are going to have 2 decades of negative job growth. There will need to be some wage normalization before jobs are created in the US again. As it stands, these jobs aren't coming back and it's not likely they are going to be replaced by different types of jobs in the near future. The fact is a lot of people that are out of work now will remain so for a long long time. Or they will take up low level positions. A bit of a re-do for a lot of people.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 23, 2010 -> 12:38 AM) But how do American textbooks not already talk about Jefferson Davis and Lincoln? I don't remember. But if the text books are being changed to revise history to make it out like Jefferson Davis was a righteous crusader for good, than that is completely outrageous.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 23, 2010 -> 12:28 AM) sure it does, one who was right and one who was incredibly wrong and believed in something terribly evil. see, contrast.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 22, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) Nice of you to volunteer that you're one of the extremists he's referring to. Go Jefferson Davis! well, let's be honest about this one, it's perfectly reasonable to compare and contrast Lincoln and Davis when covering the civil war in a text book. It all comes down to context.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 21, 2010 -> 12:16 PM) The amazing thing is, you guys think that the lives people on government benefits live are so sweet. does that include the government worker sitting around making 140,000 a year to do nothing? with gold platted benefits, full pension of course. sounds pretty sweet to me.

The Republican Thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ May 21, 2010 -> 09:24 AM) I'm considering quitting my job and applying for the various handouts the rest of the country gets. I'm a white male, so chances are low that i'll be eligible to begin with, but shoot, I'll give it a try. I just bought a house, so I'm just gonna stop paying for it because Obama will help me renegotiate my already good deal to be a better one. I don't have any health insurance now, but i'm glad in a few years I can continue not having insurance, but demand treatment if I get into a serious accident (letting you schmucks pick up the 100k+ tab). I'll get a huge discount on all my food purchases (some free, including the name brand stuff you suckers continue to buy full price). I'm also going to convince my fiance to start popping out kids so we can get two or three times these benefits. you would be the poster boy of success for the Democrat party.

It's simply amazing to hear all this crap now that we're getting free health care. dude it's free. how can something free be expensive? it can't. because it's free. free house, free food, free health care, free everything. win win.
