  1. OK OK, well, like I said... let's just keep kicking ass, and doing what we have been... not looking back and just taking care of ours.
  2. Alright boys, I'm knocking on wood as I type this (wood of the desk, not in the pants) but our boys have pretty much wrapped up a playoff birth at least. They are currently 49-22. This puts them on a ridiculous pace for a ridiculous record of 112-50. Though I don't expect that to happen, looking at it the smart way, they have this wrapped up. They have 91 games left. If they lower their win-percentage a lot and only finish out the season with .500 ball (for this, we'll say 1 over, at 46-45, they would finish with a record of 95-67, which gets them in. However, this would be a highly dissapointing record (and I believe the record that our 2000 team finished with) So I say keep kicking ass, and let's hope for a World Series...
  3. I've got a four-spot for Saturday's game... good times.
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) you know this might sound utterly rediculous but i can never understand why the Cubs & Sox don't help each other over the hump especially when one is making a run and the other isn't...the cubs season is by no means over, but in the past couldn't these two teams just rent each others talent and then after the postseason just return to sender? i mean what is the mayor doing? as much as i would hate to see the cubs win...it would have been cool to see MB on the Cubs the year they gave away the WS to the Marlins, & how nice it would be to see prior for cubs fans this year pitching for the sox? there are guys out there that could break legs if the player wasn't returned...no? so so so stupid...
  5. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 02:11 AM) Willy Taveras is 23, Jason Lane 28, and Lance Berkman 29. Berkman is playing 1st now.

I've noticed that this board is fantastic. I've been on it nonstop in the 72 hours since I discovered it. Needless to say, I wasn't very productive at work today.

I've been an insane Sox fan for 15 years (since I was 7) and I never knew this website existed. I just want to thank whomever the person or persons are who put this together, and whoever keeps it going. It's nice to talk to intellectual baseball people (ie Sox fans) instead of all my idiot Cub friends. I'm drunk, so this is the sappiest I will get. Enjoy it, and welcome me to the board!
  11. last i checked Fields hasn't even gone yard yet this year.
  12. I'd rather Randa than Crede. They are comprable defensively, but Randa is what we need on offense out of our 3B.
  13. I left the Rocket off because he's not coming to Chicago.
  14. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 12:27 AM) Or because he has the tigers over 500 Come on, what is their salary? If anyone has those stats, let me know. They have a good team... just because they are the Tigers doesn't mean its a miracle they are over .500.
  15. I'm sure Trammell got it because the All-Star game is in Detroit
  16. i always forget how high the estrogen level is on this board.
  17. sorry... anyway... let's go white sox.
  18. The park looks amazing since the renovations. Blue is no longer a main color in it... as it is mostly black and white. The awning makes it seem more old-time, and the ammenity's are first rate. Get your ass there.
  19. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:55 PM) I thought Rocket returned to baseball merely with the stipulation he pitch in his hometown. He was done and ready to retire, but for that money and getting to pitch at home and be with his family, it was worth it to him to go on. Why do the national pundits think that's changed? Won't he just retire if he gets dealt? I think he'll wind up with the Texas Rangers...
  20. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:49 PM) Management hates him? You do know that Frank is the prize possession of Reinsdorf dont you? Frank will either be back after the team lets him exercise his own option, or will come back at a lower price after both options are declined mutually. JR has seen what happened with Fisk and the fiasco thereafter. Thomas won't be walking away from the Southside. Konerko, on the other hand... You call yourself captain obvious, yet you can't see this. Frank is gone after this year. If they could've, he'da been gone last year or the year before.
  21. QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) Im sure if we made a trade for Schmidt the Giants would pay some of his contract for next year I doubt it. They know some team will take the whole thing on.
  22. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) So, we'd rather let our team icon and future HOFer walk, so that we can bring in a so-so Jason Schmidt at $10 million next year? SIGN ME UP!! I'm passing on Jason Schmidt. Also getting tired of reading the "MLB_player_01 is on his last yar of contract/needs to be traded/on the block, lets go get him! (even if we don't really need him)." Can't we as Sox fans for ONCE just sit back, see what this team is accomplishing WITH THE PLAYERS WE HAVE, and just say "Wow." Hey, I love Frank as much as the next guy, but he wont be here next year regardless if we get Schmidt or not. Management hates him. I'd rather have an ace than nothing at all. All the good free agent pitchers will be paid 8 mill plus (see Eric Milton last year). I'd rather have Schmidt at 10 then Milt at 8.
  23. If Reinsdorf and co. are willing to take on Schmidt, this would be a ridiculous move not to make. Assuming we let the Big Hurt walk, we get a nice chunk of that 10 million he is owed next year, and our staff looks like this. Buehrle Schmidt Garcia Garland Contreras I would assume McCarthy would be gone in the Schmidt deal, along with either Brian Anderson or Ryan Sweeney. You can't make an omellette without breaking a few eggs, right? Schmidt is an amazing starting pitcher, who has slumped a bit this season, but that is the only reason the Giants consider him tradeable. Just look at the stats; he hasn't had an ERA above 3.45 since 2001. The guy is a workhorse, and any team that has aspirations of winning its first World Series in nine decades would piss their pants to get him. However, I don't expect to see Jason Schmidt in a White Sox uniform. He would possibly put this team over the top, but at his worst would still be better than El Duque/ B-Mac.
  24. ha, didn't even notice. there's room for more than one podsednik fan, anyway.
