Dunn's Future
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 21, 2014 -> 09:14 AM) Haha alright. I still have a soft spot for the man because he was one of my favorite players prior to joining the White Sox. He was an absolute monster for like 8 seasons and people conveniently forget that. What the f*** did I just read? No one completely forgets that. He's been with the Sox for years and mostly terrible.

Wow. There's a thread about keeping Dunn beyond this year. Adam f***ing Dunn. It's nice to see him not be entirely worthless for a moment, but come on, yo.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 20, 2014 -> 04:48 PM) We drafted Scottie. The weirdness that is the NBA draft makes every trade of picks on draft day into a trade of players Unless he was selected with a Bulls pick (he wasn't) then he was traded for - we traded for Scottie Pippen.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 19, 2014 -> 11:08 PM) Bulls haven't signed top tier FAs in anyone's lifetime because they always draft them. MJ and Scottie? No top tier FAs to sign when they're on your team. Rose and Noah? Again, they're on your team. There was a small window where we could have done it and we turned it into a nice little core for several years through the draft instead. The Bulls traded for Scottie Pippen. The Bulls would be trading for Carmelo Anthony or Kevin Love. #lifefacts

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 19, 2014 -> 12:14 PM) Again, they didn't use replay to review interference. The 4 of them huddled, came up with a ruling - Milbury talked about this during the intermission, how that was protocol starting last year. Asked Toronto if the initial shot was in, as that would make the contact irrelevant. Completely outside of this, though, I've thought that goaltender interference should be a reviewable play for years now. Even if you don't want Toronto to do it, you can have a replay system right there in the box. Let them have a better look than just one time, live speed. Especially on a scoring play, I'd rather have all of them looked at if there's any doubt. I don't know that that's true. If they had already decided to disallow the goal due to goaltender interference, then they wouldn't have bothered with Toronto. They used, in some way, the video review to support the possibility of interference.

2013-2014 NHL thread
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 18, 2014 -> 05:48 PM) Nothing is fishy about anything. OMG CONSPIRACY AGAINST THE HAWKS. Ruled goal on the ice. Refs huddle to review, as they can (and do frequently, not only goals, but penalties too), and should, determine the contact with Quick was there. No goal. LOL at "they can't see it clearly enough." In live speed, I thought it would be disallowed because I saw the Toews contact with Quick, it was pretty obvious. Back ref can easily see that with a better perspective, as the lead is looking for the puck. The review was to see if it went in on the first shot, making the interference irrelevant, but that wasn't the case. No goal stands. There's no way in f*** that goal should count, it didn't, and everyone's b****ing. They got together to discuss and made the right call, which is what you want. Give it a rest already. What's absolutely hilarious is if the exact same thing happened on Crawford, everyone would be going crazy. No one here would be saying "well it was a goal on the ice initially, so it's totally cool that it stands." It'd be "WHAT THE f*** HE KNOCKED INTO CRAWFORD'S HEAD HOW THE f*** CAN THAT COUNT" Eh, I can't back you on this one here. There's rules for a reason. Sure, it was a s***ty goal because there was interference. However, the rules say you can't review interference. Thankfully, Hawks win, so who gives a s***.

2014 Catch-all Anything thread
I would like to tell a story that just made my day. Today is the day of the Lombard Lilac Parade, so of course, town is crazy. We never go to it, because we don't have kids and we do have brains. Every year it's the same issue, some cop is "closing" our side street two doors down from where we live. Every year, this is no problem. This year was different. I slow roll up to the officer (to say "hey, that's my house, friend") and this dude BLARES HIS SIREN at me. I say "hey, I live right there." "I DON'T CARE STREET'S CLOSED FIND ANOTHER WAY HOME". Of course, I'm pissed, but he's the fuzz. I back up and head to turn around and the next two cars approach to do the same thing. As I'm working my way back (to find a possible alternate route) a mini van pulls up to say something like "um, I live in this area" and the cop blares his lights to do his power-trip move again, and hops out of his car to yell at the elderly man driving... But he forgot to put it in park! Cop rolls right into minivan, I laugh my ass off (and double-tap my horn from the other side of the collision having found my alternate way home. They're out there acting fools right now with like three cops. I walked down there and asked the officer who yelled at me if he needed a witness. Made my day. That is all.

The Western Conference Final is upon us. As a Blackhawks fan who grew to love the team in the 90s and never left their side, these events are just huge. Bring me puck drop. Hawks got this in 6, but it isn't going to be easy. That said, at least slappy, trappy hockey is gone.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 15, 2014 -> 06:01 PM) Lucic is a talented meathead that got what was coming to him. He was classless, that isn't the place to settle scores. You don't have to play nice, but you can play "not be a dick in the handshake line." Sore loser much? All of Boston can take the loss with class (or can they?) and go away already. But if Boston loses that means the terrorists win. #bostonstrong

Actually, I do believe that Spoelstra has become one of the best coaches in the NBA.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ May 14, 2014 -> 12:48 PM) Absolutely. I think Thibodeau is probably the 2nd best coach in the NBA after Pop. He has flaws though. The minute loads are a big deal though. It is possible that his teams will never be healthy enough in the playoffs to win anything because of his "win all 82" mentality. Homer much? He doesn't have even one NBA Finals appearance.
