  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) Ozzie had nothing to do with 2005. It's pretty easy to sit back and allow your starters, acquired by your GM, to just pitch you through the playoffs. Good riddance, Ozzie! Dude, if you think Ozzie's attitude and the team's style of play had nothing to do with taking that group and winning a World Series with it, you are clearly jaded too far anti-Ozzie. I dislike your post here, greatly. It was an ugly divorce, and it's been a long-time coming, but Ozzie had a ton to do with 2005 and with making the White Sox relevant in the national baseball landscape. I am extremely pleased that he had his tenure as White Sox manager. Sure, it was time to go, but Ozzie goes down as one of our best.
  2. It's sad he had to go so quickly and in such a strange way, but it was his choice. Ozzie, you were more fun than you weren't, and you won us a World Series Championship. No one with a mind will ever forget that. Best of luck, I love you, but you had to go!

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 09:02 AM) Stuff about HIMYM is hidden? That's speculation on something that hasn't aired yet.

BTW, I enjoyed "Person of Interest" enough to watch the next one. Jesus was pretty damn terrible in it, but obviously Emerson rocks. We'll see if it gets better. I need to watch Boardwalk Empire soon, but with Sons on tonight, it won't be then!

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 08:58 AM) by the way, when was it decided not to worry about BB spoilers the day after the episode airs? It's not a films thread. I just avoided this thread until this morning because I watched Breaking Bad last night. The thread is for discussing television, and normally people talk about episodes after they air. We can't be using a spoiler tag on every post.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Sep 27, 2011 -> 08:46 AM) It's funny how absolute nothing has changed in that show. Characters make the same jokes, Ted's in the same spot with women, Barney continues some ridiculous sexual quest, etc. That part is wrong, sadly. I hate HIMYM now, I only still watch it because the wife wants to stick with it to see who the mother is.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) Why the hell doesn't FX have any episodes of Sons of Anarchy on their website? I've actually been recording each episode to a DVD-RW (I don't have DVR) and when we finally had time to sit and watch the first episode the disc kept skipping. Now I have no chance at catching up at all this season. kat.ph enter that into your web browser, and enjoy

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) Hector or Gus? Because Hector has already gotten his. He's unable to communicate with anyone other than through a bell. And Gus has now taken everything else from him. His entire family is gone and every single business associate has been murdered by Gus. All he can do is sit there and stew in it for the rest of his miserable life. Gus has made it his mission to inform him of all of this, but to keep him alive to suffer even more for having killed Gus' friend years ago. I seriously doubt that Gus has any plans to kill Hector. I should just read all of your replies before retroactively going through these and replying one-by-one when the wife and I get to BB on the DVR. It seems you and I are the only folks here who truly understand most of the show.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 10:23 AM) Yeah, I definitely saw him cracking him with the chair in my head, but then I realized that's not his style and it's a public place. He will get his, eventually. He already got his... his legacy and everyone he knows is dead. He will spend his final days unable to do anything but think about that. Gus has won in the biggest way possible.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 07:52 AM) It was cool to see Jesse still go to bat for Walt, even though Walt has no idea. Walt figured that out when Ben "fired him" vs splattering the desert floor with his brains.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 12:20 AM) I just meant that Skylar might not believe them that they didn't do that do him, but he did it to himself. Just wondering why they (Saul and the muscle) were making such a big deal about. Also, how does Walt not have $500K? Isn't that what Saul said it would cost? So if Skylar took out $617K or whatever it was, that means they only had $1.1M saved up? Or they only had a small amount under the house for emergency funds, and the rest of it is somewhere that is not quickly accessible, like through the car wash's finances. They spent a cool mill on the car wash.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 12:04 AM) Boardwalk Empire premiere tonight. Decent, but not great. Seems like they spent most of the time setting stuff up; wasn't too much action on the whole. The stuff with Van Alden was pretty good, though. Such a strange character. Yeah, a lot of these dramas rock like that... even Breaking Bad. We all know Boardwalk Empire will get rocking soon enough!

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 11:04 PM) For a second, I was getting worried that they were going to rehash an old storyline, but they've gone and f***ed my whole world up again. I can't imagine there ever being a show that was better than this. There hasn't. Breaking Bad is churning out the best run of fantastic episodes I've encountered on television.
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 09:02 PM) EA Active 2 arrived at the apartment today. I let my roommate give it a shot first. She really liked it and I think we are both going to try the 9 week program. The only problem is, there are not multiple profiles on one game. How is that possible? Did they seriously make this game so only 1 person can work out? I ended up finding a workaround by creating another user on my PS3, and then logging in with that user, then starting the game up. This seems to work, but how dumb of them not to build in the ability to have multiple users and programs. Also, is there any way to just play the games, or do you have to do the workouts and hope you get some fun ones like basketball shooting and mountain climbing? I find people who try to use video games to get in shape pretty funny.
  15. McKeon is retiring after this year. We'll have to "suffer" through Ozzie until he can be dealt for something.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 10:49 AM) I'm glad to see that you think Sox fans have the collective IQ of a moldy grapefruit. If you take the collective IQ of any fan base it will probably resemble that of at least an overly ripe grapefruit, if not moldy.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 09:20 AM) the one where Hester ran directly into the CB? Slice it how you want, the play was pass interference.
  18. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 07:57 AM) The Bears would have looked much better if not for 3-4 dropped passes, two pass interferences that were not called, and a punt return that was called back on a "hold" that occurred when the Bears and Packers werent even touching each other. I will say, despite the fact that the Bears lost fair-and-square, that the no-call on the Hester pass interference was a crock of s*** and completely obvious.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 08:54 PM) the optimist in me says 1-2 isnt a death sentence, and it can be overcome. but this has to be the bottom, they have to take the next step. The pessimist in me sees this as what the bears are. I said 1-2 after the 1st three would be fine. Sadly, when the Bears win the 1st one, we get carried away. Obviously, just like last year, they are going to reign Martz in and run an offense more suited for the awful receiving corps. It drives me nuts that we get Martz instead of our best receiver, Greg Olsen.
  20. QUOTE (God Loves The Infantry @ Sep 25, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) Holy crap. How many close games can there be? I've got the NFL Sunday Ticket and trying to choose which final minute to watch is about to make my head explode. Yeah, that's why RedZone channel wins.
  21. I think Dick Allen is just an AUTObot that supports Greg Walker. He's not an actual human who puts thought to keyboard. It cannot be possible.

  24. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 24, 2011 -> 05:23 AM) That Brandon Saad kid is fun to watch. Might turn out to be one of the biggest steals in that entire 2011 draft. While prepping the house for our Bears party yesterday I had a random Penguins game on, and they did a nice little feature on Saad given he's from western PA. I doubt he makes the club initially, but it's always entertaining to see someone like him play so well so surprisingly while wastes like Kyle Beach never improve or show any flash.
