  1. wonder if SF would be interested in Flowers....? Or would they dare take back AJ?
  2. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 14, 2011 -> 10:51 AM) Just watched Baseball Tonight's preview of the AL in the 2nd half, and Doug Glanville said the White Sox are the team to watch, and that Adam Dunn will break out of this and turn his season around. Interesting. One good thing is that we'll know right away, won't we? No where to hide with this schedule in July.
  3. some candid responses from Gonzalez in the mailbag (for a change): mailbag
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) I don't get this rotation they're planning on using at all. If it were up to me I'd be going with Humber-Danks-Floyd-Buehrle-Jackson-Peavy I wouldn't waste Humber against Verlander. This is when I wish we still had Lucas Harrell. Give the starters another day off! (only half-joking)
  5. is it wrong to root for him to be out say, for a weekend? Then again, it's always guys like Boesch that kill the Sox
  6. sounds like Beltran could be on the move to DET
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) Here's the question. Do you put that on the bulletin board for motivation, or do you hide it from the team out of worry that theyll get more scared? good question. does anything fire up these guys?
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 04:22 PM) If you think about it, firing a coach is the biggest copout. Either fire the manager, fire the GM or change some players. Personally, I don't buy the Ozzie/KW relationship being patched up and I think its a weight on the organization. If I had my choice they both would go, but one, either one, I believe would do wonders for the organization. I'm leaning towards Ozzie because he can take Oney and Cowley for that matter with him, and there's no telling how big his head will get if he actually won the war vs. KW, but I will take KW going as well, and you better hire a GM who will be able to go toe to toe with Ozzie. hard to argue with this logic. I've always felt like these kinds of firings are generally red meat thrown to fans, but there have been instances when a coaching change, even a pitching or hitting coach, can have an impact. off topic, this from Cuddyer. Man I hate the Twins:
  9. QUOTE (SI1020 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) During the celebration after the Sox clinched the division title in 1983, owner Jerry Reinsdorf referred to Harry and Jimmy as "scum." There was obviously no love lost there. Despite this Harry Caray was never fired by the White Sox. Owner John Allyn had wanted to fire him, but Bill Veeck retained Caray after rebuying the team before the 1976 season. When the Reinsdorf group purchased the Sox they made Caray an offer, but he did not care for the concept of Sports Vision and jumped ship to the Cubs so he could take advantage of WGN's superstation. The Cubs promptly put a muzzle on him, and he went from being the controversial lightning rod of an announcer to a "Bud man and a Cubs fan." great post. I'm glad some remember what a douche Reinsdorf can be.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 10:20 AM) Where did you hear/see that? Oh man, I'll have to dig it up, but it was something I read last week suggesting that KW wanted to fire a coach but Reinsdorf was reluctant. Let me look... EDIT: Here it is, from Cowley of course:
  11. PK would be such a great fit for that young AZ team.
  12. If something was going to happen it would've happened by now, so I guess we're stuck waiting to the trade deadline. Sounds like Reinsdorf has so far vetoed any firings that KW wanted to make, so not sure how much to blame kw for no movement. While I'm hoping for a turnaround I seriously doubt that 4 days off is going to spin this team in a new direction.
  13. If Ozzie were to be canned, who do you guys think are the top 3 candidates to take his place?
  14. I'd like to see the metrics that back up my C
  15. Team game, I give the white sox a D+/C- They pulled themselves out of the tailspin and despite some gaping holes in the lineup, they clawed their way back to .500 before falling back again. Without a boost to the lineup and bullpen (Viciedo and Reed get my votes) and a semblance of normality from Dunn, I fear we're just going to watch them swim upstream for the rest of the year. I have very serious concerns about Humber's ability to repeat his performance in the 2nd half, and that alone could be devastating, given that Buehrle is the only other consistent starter. Enjoy the break.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 02:18 PM) Chor-tle –verb (used with object) 2. to express with a gleeful chuckle: to chortle one's joy. It was definitely funny. I was agreeing. But thanks for the patronizing response. (pa-tro-ni-zing: 1. Treat with an apparent kindness that betrays a feeling of superiority.)
  17. Brent Lillibridge - C+ ???? That's racist. What've you got against the shire?
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxrd5 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 02:15 PM) I just chortled wildly at this. I think he's just yanking chains - i thought it was funny
  19. Who are we kidding, with Castro gone for a month at least, any chance of winning the division is over.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 02:11 PM) Fitting ending. Hawk says you have to tip your cap. now THAT'S where he's just so full of s*** his hair is brown again.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 02:07 PM) Was the WP on Santos or AJ? I missed it. Santos. AJ had a chance on the rebound to get him out but tried to grab it bare handed and whiffed
