  1. QUOTE (kane0730 @ Sep 8, 2009 -> 10:26 AM) AJ/Tomko match-up should be fun. indeed
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 01:30 PM) The Sox haven't shown a run like 17-7 (or close to it) against AL competition this entire season, and there is no way in hell we will sweep Detroit in Detroit. Even if we play well against them, 4-2 is more likely, and that won't do a whole hell of a lot of good. don't underestimate hell
  3. great outing by Mark - lets see Thor and Jenks, call it a day.
  4. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Sep 7, 2009 -> 12:40 PM) Of course.....If we don't play really well over this stretch, there's no chance of postseason. i'm on your side
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) <!--quoteo(post=1999773:date=Aug 30, 2009 -> 01:21 PM:name=whitesoxfan101)-->QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 30, 2009 -> 01:21 PM) <!--quotec-->That's not a very good statement about the 3rd basemen we've had in your time as a fan (and I know you have been a Sox fan for quite a while). It's definitely an indictment on the team's inability to fill the 3B position with a competent everyday player. Playing for the Sox from 1965 to 2009, played 70% of games at 3B, requiring at least 100 G, sorted by greatest OPS+: (100 = league average) OPS+ GAMES 1. 117 1254 Robin Ventura 2. 115 976 Bill Melton 3. 114 329 Eric Solderholm 4. 101 201 Herbert Perry 5. 93 798 Joe Crede 6. 90 410 Vance Law 7. 85 196 Josh Fields hence the book, "Who's On Third?" a history of the White Sox by looking at who played third (first Sox book I ever read) link
  6. since the thread is titled random pointless thought, i'll add one: on this date in 2005 the sox climbed to 9.5 games up on CLE, only to watch it dwindle to 1.5... anything can happen - play it out until the math says it doesn't matter.
  7. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) If Quentin is hurt he should not be playing and Flowers or AJ should be the DH. If he is anything over 90%, the Sox need to really be concerned about him. I also think the Sox need to extend AJ as to avoid any clubhouse BS that seems to follow this team and really have an impact on it. Guys almost seem to like it here so much they get pissed when they leave. The Sox rotation could be awesome next year. if kenny fixes the pen, the Sox will be fine next year
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 01:15 PM) So it goes. not much you can do
  9. tigers doing it again. Can't help but tip your cap. I'm stunned that they let Mags vest.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) I think we sacrificed all of our "Backup catcher" luck in 2005. Widger came here and got better. Ever since, everyone who has come to Chicago to backup AJ has gotten worse. is he really any better than Corky?
  11. the sooner the ramon castro era comes to a close, the better
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) Quentin really looks awful at the plate. Next year is so huge for him. he needs a mental high colonic
