  1. our leadoff hitter batted a whopping .217 in August, finishing the month by going 1-13 with 6 strikeouts. Let's hope September is more kind.
  2. Looks like NY is about to get hit with some serious rain over the next few days.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) Are you sure you're not looking at Thursday's lineup on Riefert's page? my bad. trigger happy.
  4. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) Also, Anderson is 3-7 with a 2B and a HR against Hernandez. oh, now I get it. He does well. Better bench him. edit: oops, posted yesterday's lineup
  5. For my master plan of world dominance to be realized, I thought the sox needed to go 5-1 vs. TB and KC and the kitties go 3-3 vs. NY and LA this week. Don't fail me! go sox
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:01 AM) The Tigers took Nook Logan off of their 40 man roster. weird. that guy looked to be a rising star last season. what's the word on Polanco? I also read that Maroth is toast for the season, anyone else read that?
  7. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:48 AM) He's not on the 40 man, and he's likely not going to come up, if he does, until the AAA playoffs are over. It'd be neat to see waht he can do, but he's roadblocked by Boone. thanks. of all our minor leaguers he intrigues me the most.
  8. Here's my optimistic take: Bosox, Twins and Tigers have been hit with the injury bug and (knock on wood) the Sox haven't (I don't include Thome's boo-boos). Credit for this is due to the use of the bench and a frequently inconsistent lineup, something Ozzie gets ripped for a lot around here. He's kept the club healthy for the stretch. He deserves credit.
  9. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 1, 2006 -> 10:31 AM) I'm surprised it's Haegs and not Tracey immediately. Talking to a source, he said there's a few guys coming up but he can't say anything til the Sox do. Any chance Heath Phillips can make it up? I think he could be a difference maker.
  10. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 04:11 PM) Yeah, me too. Anderson has been great scince the ASG given the opportunity. But that is the problem, he doesn't get enough playing time. BA has his moments but he fails too often to get runners over or in with less than two outs. Some pitchers still make him look absolutely lost. I know it's an improvement over where he was in the first half and I'm glad to see it - but when I see how some other rookies around the league have contributed to their team I can't help but feel that he's been a disappointment. Even he has said as much. And his terrific defense can't gloss over it.
  11. Face it, this team is incapable of playing any better than what we've seen in the second half. We do not have a lead off hitter and our pitching - starting and relief - is terribly inconsistent. If they get into the playoffs it will be with help from the Twins and/or Tigers, not because they're going to go on some epic tear. I'm not saying we're going to back in to the playoffs, but get in by the hair of our chinny-chin-chins (if at all).
  12. Javy's given up two runs. So what. It's our offense that's stinking up the joint today.
  13. shocking decision to leave him in. Just shocking. never saw it coming.
  14. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 31, 2006 -> 11:30 AM) 4th of July game, wasn't it? I believe it was. 3 run dinger, game ova
  15. does anyone else always think of Billy Koch every time you see Carl Crawford?
  16. the sox have an uncanny ability to make bad pitchers look good
  17. thought for sure he was going to walk in the lead run
