  1. Please stop complaining about Ozzie, you're going to make him quit.
  2. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) We seen this guy 4 times already this year? How many times in the last few years? We still can't figure him out? The only hope tonight is the *cough* hot KC Royals keep it up, McCarthy pitches a no-hitter or we take enough pitches to knock Johan out of the game. against our line up Santana has a very good opportunity to throw the first no hitter of the season. He likes pitching at the cell and let's face it, more than half our lineup is in a real slump right now. I wish Duque were pitching - hate to waste BMac on this suicide mission.
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 11:47 AM) I still say this is the best approach, and Farmio and Rooney have echoed it a few times in games. Try and hit Santana's fastball to right field. If he gets the change on you, you will pull it, but most likely will still pull it fair. Currently we gear up for the fastball and pull the change if we do make contact foul. It'll never happen. Makes too much sense.
  4. Disturbing: "This was disappointing because I didn't feel the energy," A.J. Pierzynski said of Wednesday night's game. "We can't have that right now. That's what was disappointing." No energy. Hm. That's great to hear.
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) And Ozzie continues to bat Carl 3rd for some reason. Mind-boggling. The worst #3 hitter out of all the playoff contenders. Ozzie's afraid of pissing him off and screwing with CHEMISTRY. Carl's volatile. And for everyone who said I was full of s*** when I suggested that a 12 game lead in July prevented the Sox from pulling a trigger on a trade? :finger
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) McCarthy didn't help the Sox get to where they are now, so he won't be in the playoffs. Ozzie loves his veterans, and he definitely doesn't seem to be McCarthy's biggest fan. If McCarthy gives up 4 or more runs tonight, he won't start for the Sox again this season. He's got no choice. Duque is crap and Freddy should probably be shut down for a week. McCarthy will pitch again, hopefully in Cleveland. Here's a satisfying scenario: Sox trail the tribe by two games going into cleveland and sweep behind Count, McCarthy and Garland. Man I crack myself up!! :banghead
  7. Here's a thought on how to beat Santana: Pods bunts for a single. He steals second. Iguchi sacrifices him to third. Carl hits a sacrifice fly. Sox lead 1-0. Call me crazy, but if you want to beat Santana, you'd better start playing "ozzie" ball again.
  8. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 07:33 AM) They ALWAYS kill the Sox when it matters most. That's the part that sucks. So painful but so true. They have killed us the last couple of years. I'm not counting on anything. These last three games with Cleveland have drained me. I'm assuming that Cleveland is going to win every single game they play until the Sox come to town. Rooting for KC or Tampa to help is lke pulling for the generals to beat the globetrotters. If anybody's going to beat Cleveland it'll have to be the Sox.
  9. The only way this team is going to change their fortunes is if Pods, Iguchi and Carl pull out of it. I don't give a damn what anyone says, the pitching is not the problem. And you're right - Cleveland is playing out of their minds. But the Sox still have a LEAD!!!!!!!
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) Same story, just another night. You can sub out the players name for another starter, and we have the same situation every game. It would've been nice to hold the lead to 2-0 and see if the sox couldn't muster another rally. It's just sad that Garland pitched so damn good only to be strung out like that and made to pay the price by Travis "call me Bonds" Hafner. If the Sox do make the playoffs, at least they won't see the tribe in the first round!!
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) Don't forget that our so-called aces all allowed at least 4 runs, and our bullpen was very mediocre during the series. I hear you, but the Sox were in every game until the 8th tonight when our brain dead caribbean manager allowed JG to pitch to the hottest hitter in the lineup. Which says to me that the pitching bent but did not break. Face it Fathom, the tribe is red hot at the plate and you're not going to shut them down. You have to find a way to score some runs and stay up with them. I actually thought our pitching was fair to good, considering the opponent. How I wish the Count could've pitched one game...
  12. Arguably the biggest series of the season (so far) just ended. Men: PK 5/12, .416 AJ 4/11, .363 Crede 4/12, .333 Uribe 3/11, .272 Jags: Rowand 1/8 .125 Pods 2/13, .153 Carl 2/11, .181 JD 2/10, .200 Gooch 3/14 .214 One, two, even three guys having an off series is understandable. But five? Including the 1,2,3 hitters??? It amazes me that the Sox won even one game these last three nights.
  13. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) It's really down to 6 and root for the Yankees. Boston and NY play at the end of the season, so there are 3 [guaranteed] losses to be distributed between the two of them. NY can win 99 games if they win all of their remaing games, and Boston can win 98, but they can't do that at the Same time. Here are the most wins they can finish with. Series Most possible Wins Result Boston NYY NY Sweep 95 99 NY wins 96 98 Bos Wins 97 97 Bos Sweep 98 96 If the Sox win 6 games, they will have 97 and guarantee at least a 3-way playoff. They take care of business against Minnesota (who just shut down Radke) and Detroit (who just shut down Bonderman) and they will have a spot locked up before they go to Cleveland. Need to pick up a game on the tribe before we play them at the end. That's it. Even though it's hard to imagine, the pressure's still on them to keep winning. As for the Twins, maybe it's just me, but I sure hope the Sox have a bad case of amnesia about tonight's game and move on. They can't afford any carry over this weekend. The Twins are licking their chops and we OWE those f***ers in a big, big way for some recent Septembers.
  14. Sox picked a bad night to have one of those weird games.
  15. f***ing jiffy pop. Everyone's trying to tie it with one swing.
  16. Cleveland's announcer is implying that the Sox celebrated last night like they won the division. :finger
  17. cool -- my wife just called, her boss is on that flight!
